My husband and I have now stayed at Los Jeronimos twice (for a week two years ago and for two weeks, last year); we're about to return for another two weeks. It's not a hotel (you can only check in on week days during certain hours and sometimes have to wait to be let in); very few people who work...

This place isn't for everybody but it has some pluses depending on what you are looking for in a place to stay. First, it is not a hotel. It is an apartment/condo building with some units in a rental pool. As such, only limited staff and services are available. Second, the rental units are modestly but adequately furnished. However, if...

We booked Apartmentos Jeronimos in Madrid for 2 nights stay on June 6 & 7, 2013. The booking was made a few months in advance online & we were promised “hotel amenities” as stated on their website. On our arrival, we were greeted by an empty reception desk. After enquiring at the adjoining Jeronimos Cafe & other places, we had...

If you are only in Madrid for several nights and need a great location for a fair price, this is it!! Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, 2 blocks to the Prado. Great neighborhood but no nightlife and few places nearby to eat. But easy walking distance to everything. Would recommend apartment to anyone.

This is probably the nicest location in all of Madrid, bar none. Half a block behind the Prado Museum and half a block to Retiro Park in the other direction, yet QUIET. Who knew that such a peaceful oasis could exist in the hustle bustle of Madrid? We have stayed here several times over the years, since discovering it in...

We enjoyed our 5 nights stay at the Los Jeronimos very much. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are spacy and clean. Our room had a large terrace with good views. But, the rooms are a bit dated, they urgently need some renovation work. Los Jeronimos is located next to the Prado within walking distance to lots...

This was our second Los Jeronimos visit (last one 10 yrs ago). It's a fantastic value for large apartments, all with balconies, and one block from the Prado on a lovely leafy street. Decor was a bit dated then and more so now but very clean and the little cafe downstairs and great for breakfast (and rubbing shoulders with all-locals)....

My husband and I stayed in one of the apartments at Espahotel in May. We had read reviews on a New York Times posting. I think it may have changed ownership recently, as it was called Los Jeronimos when we booked it. For 108E per night, we had a large one-bedroom apartment complete with a terrace, They gave us an...

Los Jeronimos provides spacious, clean, nicely decorated apartments at a very reasonable price. It is located in a residential, quiet neighborhood, just a block or two behind the Prado Museum. An excellent Italian restaurant is only a block away. If you want to be in the midst of the noisy action, this is not the place for you. However, that...

Our spacious apartment at Los Jeronimos was a great base for our family to explore Madrid. The apartment was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The location is outstanding - steps to the Prado and Parque Retiro, with a cafeteria attached and a sweet little bakery and coffee shop just down the street. Our quad. apartment was very comfortable for two adults...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
