We chose this hotel because of the reviews, proximity to the train station and museums, and were not disappointed. We were impressed with the helpfulness of the staff - they went above and beyond to make sure you were having a pleasant stay. The hotel offers free coffee, juice, and fruit all day. We were happy to find a welcome...

The reviews got it right with this hotel. It is modern hotel, built in about 2011 in an old historic shell, and beautifully furnished with the latest modern fixtures, wall coverings, and floor coverings. It is a small hotel with, I believe, 17 rooms, with the back rooms on each floor being suites which was perfect for our family of...

Great location. Great modern hotel. If you are a family of 4 consider the Triple room. Great on the house 24x7 coffee, juices, fruit and even soup for a few hours.close to all attractions, the metro and restaurants. Marcella and Sara are the best and most helpful. Mi-fi (available at the front desk)invaluable even in Toledo. Public parking very close.

Heading to Madrid with a family of four it was a struggle to find a hotel that could accommodate all us in one room. We picked Airtrip because of the larger room options, high ratings from past guests, and location (walking distance to Prado museum) and it did not disappoint. We wrote beforehand asking for help finding a restaurant for...

We enjoyed our recent three night stay at Artrip. The rooms are modern and very clean. The staff is outstanding - very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a vibrant, urban neighborhood. While the neighborhood is not touristy, it is only a short walk to both the train station and the Museo Reina Sofía. Highly recommend!

Attic room 1 is a little quirky in design, comfortable and quiet. The room had everything I needed - shower, tea/coffee, a safe, and a fridge. Beautifully clean (and I am fussy!). There is lift access to all rooms. I was made to feel very comfortable by the lovely staff on reception, who told me to treat the place as...

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
