Service friendly and helpful. They gave us good recommendations for food and drink as well as the sights to see, and when to go. Location excellent - within easy walking distance of all the major sights in central Madrid. We didn't use the metro once. Breakfast plentiful and good quality. Rooms clean and comfortable.

The best asset of this hotel is its staff. We stayed there for 7 nights and the staff were always available and helpful. Marcela greeted us on our arrival, gave us a map and explained where to go if we wished and how to get there. She recommended a few local restaurants for the evening and we were glad we...

Had a great stay at the Artrip. Very well situated for the major museums. We had a quiet room at the back, well furnished, clean with a good bathroom. Very friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Happy to recommend.

Second time we've stayed here, and we've really no reason to try any other hotel such is the friendliness of the staff, quality of the rooms and good location. Realising we've stayed before, they even left us a bottle of bubbly in the fridge. Don't come here expecting the Ritz, it's a small family run hotel, which makes inventive use...

My husband and I loved our visit and time at the Artrip Hotel (3 nights in November). From the moment you walk in the door, and each time thereafter, the team greets you with the smile of an old friend. They had wonderful recommendations, ideas and directions to get around the city. We chose the option with breakfast every morning...

Excellent location, very clean Hotel, friendly staff, and yes the BEST coffee in town!! Walking distance to everything we wanted to see in beautiful Madrid, this Hotel we would recommend fully! We only spent a couple nights here however we had the best sleeps of our Spain trip! The Hotel is just off the main streets and is pleasantly quiet.

This is a small boutique hotel in Lavapies. I personally loved the area - very eclectic mix of people, not too touristy and conveniently close to most attractions. We were able to walk everywhere. The hotel is excellent, and great value. Our room was spacious, clean, beautifully appointed and had every convenience that we needed. The staff are super friendly...

Pay more elsewhere and still get less. Yes it's not IN the Prado, but only a 10/15minute stroll away. Yes, it's tucked away down a street you might not visit otherwise, but it's work all the harder for it. Turn Left from the hotel to station and Atocha. For a more colourful stroll, turn right. Real life Bohemia Madrid. And...

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
