The hotel was wonderful experience for our group! It is located on a side street right off the Gran Via. Within walking distance of many restaurants and Plaza shopping, beautiful doors that open up to balconies overlooking the City. I would stay there again!

Despite the warm welcome we discovered the sofa ( extra bed ) was full of unadentified stains. The same sofa that next morning had a couple of the wooden mattress holders on the floor. The microwave had to be changed as it was working whenever felt like. Worse was the mauld on the hallway walls and we had to request...

I saw some complaints in earlier reviews, and reserved judgement, and was glad I did. No, it is not a being-catered-to five-star hotel experience. It is a livable, tidy, and very conveniently located short-term rental apartment. It has a/c and and a clothes washer and a full kitchen with utensils. There's a tiny grocery up the street and a bakery...

What a shame that this place did not have more reviews. In itself, the place is not exactly "excellent." If you factor in the location, the cost, and the amenities, however, this is an A+ choice for families. We arrived at these apartments after staying in hotels for about two weeks. That's when we really figured out how much we...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
