I stayed here in May 2013 for five nights. I had room 601 which had a spectacular view of the Neptune fountain. Being that high up I did not have any trouble with street noise. My room was a bit on the small side, but not enough to be problematic. Bed was firm and very comfortable. The bathroom was generously...

I stayed here on two occasions in May, 2013. On the first occasion I was given a room on the first floor overlooking the plaza. While the view was wonderful, the street sounds made the room unbearable and I hardly slept a wink. On my return I was given a smaller room (standard) on an upper floor facing away from...

Great little old fashioned hotel right across from the Prado and El Retiro Park, and within walking distance to most other major sights in Madrid. Close to the train station. Small room, but clean, and a fantastic bathroom with super shower. Helpful staff that spoke English. We had an inside room with no view but this was not important to...

Our 6th floor room at the NH Paseo del Prado lacked the view we had requested, but had the advantage of being quite light, compared with another we inspected on the 4th floor. In fact the view we did have (upper floors on the corner of the Palace Hotel next door, with a sliver of the main road below, some...

If you're in Madrid on a cultural tour, the location is unbeatable. So central. Easy walk to the Prado and other art collections, as well as the botanical gardens and a range of good restaurants. Air conditioning works well, important in summer. The rooms are a tad small, but nice and furnished at a very high level with heavy drapery,...

Not great start here. My ‘standard’ room was very dark with a tiny internal facing window – not on for a so-called 4-star hotel at Euro 110+ p/night. I was moved to a so-called standard+ room for an extra 10 Euros p/night which at least had an external window but again it fairly dark, small and nothing to shout home...

We spent 4 nights in March at the NH Paseo del Prado and could not fault it. We chose it initially for it's central location which fit the bill perfectly. Everything was within walking distance, museums, spoilt for choice, city tour bus, tapas bars. Our room, 618, overlooked the fabulous fountain and was well worth any traffic noise. Some very...

spent 2 nights there from 31/01/2013. Ideal location right opposite the Prado Museum, within walking distance of Botanic Gardens and park, lovely area of Madrid. Easy access to public transport, 10 minute plesant walk to Atochia train station. Very near good tapas bars, in fact hotel tapas bar is exceptional! would highly recommend food there. We stayed in room 115...

On a recent trip to Madrid, my wife and I wanted to find a hotel centrally located with easy access to the major museums. The NH Paseo del Prado more than fit the bill. Our room was comfortable, reasonably priced and nicely appointed. The green marble in the bath added a luxurious touch. Service was friendly and helpful, and free...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
