it saved the day!! it's located in city center which is a winner in the big city like Madrid, no need to use the metro if you are not going outside of city...owners were super friendly and nice... room was very small, outdated and had no commodity at all. You couldn't even sit on the toilet and close the door......

After reading earlier reviews, we were a little concerned of what to expect here. Yes it is basic, but the beds were comfortable, the towels were changed every day and we also had air conditioning. If you are paying little money you can not expect the place to be like the Ritz.

We had to spend a night in Madrid before getting the flight back. I needed only a clean bed and a shower. But this was the dirtiest place in the whole Madrid. I say it because I visited Madrid more than a dozen of times and I have been accommodated at all kinds of hotels, from cheap to expensive. We...

Right in the centre of Madrid on pedestrian area near Gran Via. Basic room, but spotless, beds made, towels changed and cleaned every day. Owner very friendly and helpful. Downside, parents who look after it, don't speak English, but we managed.

This hostal is located right in the heart of Madrid near the Gran Via and at the price per night it is excellent value. The rooms are small and basic but are very clean. Our room had an ensuite, air conditioner and we were provided with fresh towels each day.

Convenient location and friendly staff. The ideal price-quality ratio. Sufficiently large room with a comfortable bathroom. Free Wi-fi is available, but there were very unstable. Breakfast here is not offered, but the surroundings are very many places where you can have breakfast.

Very cheap, right in the centre of Madrid (metro stop Gran Via). That's about as good as it got. The staff don't speak any English (luckily I knew enough Spanish to get by), the key for the main hostel door didn't work well, there was a stained window in our room which connected to the cleaners cupboard and the lights...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
