Nice hostel on the second floor of a building. Rooms are not very big, but the hostel is very clean. Ladies running the hostel are very polite. You can go anywhere by foot because it is very near to Sol and the other points of interest.

A tad expensive but everything necessary is there. Contrary to some reviewers I didn't appreciate the mistress' interest and forced amiability. Twin is ok size, and the rooms are cleaned daily. I'd rather they'd be cleaned less often and more thoroughly, but as i said, everything worked, and bathroom was clean and nice enough size. The wifi was temperamental, sometimes...

Located on a quite (when it's not a weekend:)) narrow street of central Madrid. Nearby you can find a lot of good restaurants and bars. A room was small, poorly furnished and claustrophobic - it's window looking to a narrow void - but clean and cosy, private bathroom, tv and so on. Exellent location and friendly staff (well, you should...

Excellent choise for someone if he want to visit all the city sightseeings by foot. Also the room is very clean ( not big enough) and it has got its own toilet. Good value for money. The station of metro Sevillia is two steps.

It's located at level 2 or 3 with other hostel in same building. Near to main attractions, many bars, restaurants just around the...

Clean hotel, free wifi, just in the center of the city close to Sol area. The staff is nice, despite that they do not speak any english we managed to get along with them just fine. The room was clean and well maintained for this type of budget location.

In comparison with other hostals, this one can be seen as a good option for people with a low budget. The service was good and the room although small was very clean. The only one problem was that the street was very noisy during the nights.

I spent three nights at Hostal Lido in Madrid from 18th to 21st November 2006 and I am still trying to get back from them 40 euros they overcharged on my credit card. Hostal Lido is excellently located in a small street very close to the Prado area and Puerta del Sol: everything is at walking distance, at least for...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
