The "Hostal Jerez" is a hotel on the 6th floor, but can be reached with an elevator. They do not serve breakfast, but that is not a problem, as there are many places to eat very nearby. ( Mc Donalds is open 24 hrs and is around the corner , so good coffee and strong Wifi are nearby ). The...

Located in the very city centre - on the corner of Montera and Grana Vía, right at Grana Vía metro station. Though it's called hostel, one can get a standard double room. The room was decently clean and comfortable but the bathroom could be equipped better - there was no place to put towels, etc. There was no minibar which...

It is very well located, clean, and comfortable. They did not have the remote controls for TV and AC, though, we had to go ask for them. Even after that, the AC was controlled with a switch at the front desk, and the man did not turn it on until my husband made another trip to ask why it was...

Hotel was renovating at that time. Windows was forced closed. The whole building was wrapped. Now views, understandable. Small room, had to ask for TV remove control, air-cond remote, hair dryer. The reception was helpful.

So first the good - cheap price, central location, good free WiFi, water available at a good price at the front desk, comfy bed and pillow. But the bad - The odd way the electricity kept turning off in the room twice while I was in the shower. The fact that after I requested the remote for the air conditioning...

Wasn't sure what to expect when I got there but receptionist was very pleasant and booked us in very quickly. It was exactly what I asked for just a room with double bed tv and bathroom no extra frills included. But this was OK as it is above Macdonalds and was a 2 minute walk so drinks we purchased there...

The hostel is very central easily reached by any means of transport, clean room, and warm in the evening. It is definitely worth the price. Situated in gran via, madrid's center main shopping area. Surrounded by tapas eateries. Recommended.

Stayed for a night in winter. The room was warm and clean. A little dated but for the price in the location - wasn't bad. Had to open the window on arrival to air out the room. Central location in the middle of a loooot of stuff- including ample ladies of the night if that's your thing That was a...

Stayed at the Hostal Jerez for three nights. The room was comfortable and quiet, clean and serviced well. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent - the doorway is about 20 metres to the 'Gran Via' metro stop and Gran Via, and a short walk to Puerta del Sol. A comfortable stay, and I would stay here...

You pay what you get. The Room was clean, but quite small. However, it was great location, near the metro and shopping area. Down stair had MC Donald's open 24 hrs incase someone wanted to get some food in the middle of the night. Staff was ok. Wifi wasn't good

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
