This hotel is located in the city center (near the main streets and subway station) which is very convenient if you don't want to lose time in transport. However, it also means it is quite loud because of the bars and restaurants nearby (the hotel / windows are not specially well soundproofed). We were 2 friends, and asked for twins...

If you are in Madrid to party hard, this place is the perfect crash pad! We on the other hand....we were there to be close to museums and good food and the flavor of it all. It was a clean room with a nice closet to hang up clothes. Efficient shower. TV. But the couple in front of us at...

The hostal is situated in the very center of Madrid, just steps away from Sol or the major museums and sights. The rooms are small, but nice and comfortable. The only minus points are the noise from the street, if your room is located on the street side, the breakfast and the very very tiny pillows.

Good hotel for the most part, and you can't beat the location, particularly of you're a young person looking to enjoy the Madrid nightlife. Is located about 200 yards from puerta de sol, which is a rather busy and exciting part of the city. Pros: -Great location -Clean everywhere -Strong wifi -Big bathroom by European standards Cons: -The bed leaves...

Tidy, clean, good bed, wifi, perfect location, BAD breakfast (coffee, orange juice, kruvasan, water), bad view of room (dark); looking to hole of building. It is ok if you are looking for average hotel in the center of Madrid

We were booked to stay at Hotel Victoria 4 around the corner, but they were having plumbing issues and were out of rooms, so they sent us to stay one night at the El Pasaje instead. It was definitely a down-grade from what we had booked, paid for, and were expecting. The room was very noisy and the bed was...

Very good place. Near all attractions places, bars, restorans. We did not need a public transport. Small room. But very clean. We had continental breakfast included: a cup of coffee, juice and krosana. Not too much, but it was good.

We've stayed here three times in the last few years. Don't expect anything fancy but everything they do is good, the place is clean and for the centre is surprisingly quiet. We paid 70 Euro a night and you have to be realistic about what you are getting. The rooms are not large and if you want a room to...

This hotel is quity tidy, clean and well-organized. The furniture in the room is comparably new and in good shape. Bathroom is very clean and everything was in order. The matress was not ok for me because it was very soft - this is the ONLY point for a complaint. Sometimes it can get quite loud but you'll have some...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
