We have been bringing groups of bridge players to this hotel for two weeks in January for over twenty years. Many of the staff have been there for all or most of that time, which is testimony to the friendliness and sense of family there is within the staff. Given what you pay, the food is of good quality and there is plenty of choice. The price of drinks (€7 for a BOTTLE of wine) could hardly be lower and the bedrooms are comfortable with British channels on TV. The Poseidon Resort is made up of two hotels, the Poseidon & the Poseidon Palace, connected via the swimming pool areas, and you can use the facilities of both - at night both hotels offer different entertainment in their bars. If you accept that hotel is a good 3-star establishment you will not be disappointed. We shall definitely be returning next year.

Firstly let's be clear that this is a 3 star hotel, pretending to be a 3 star hotel, charging 3 star hotel prices and it achieves this pretty well. Bar prices are very good. The hotel is extremely clean, rooms are very acceptable and the hotel is very well located for a stroll to the Old Town and the beaches. Despite being in a central location, my room on the 13th floor overlooking the pools was wonderfully quiet.

Unfortunately the food has deteriorated in the four years since I last visited. Covid has a lot to answer for! It was a struggle to find food from the buffet that was acceptable (and hot!) and - bewilderingly - there was hardly ever any cheese! I can cope with some nice bread, cheese and salad any day.

However, reception and bar staff were great. A shout out to Sergio! Restuarant staff were mainly a bit grumpy - perhaps because they knew their customers were underwhelmed?

I stayed in the smaller building, not the one in the picture as the resort is made up of 2 buildings, the taller one is known as the Poseidon Palace. The room was of a decent size, I had a double for single use. The bed was comfy and was a double size bed. Good size furnished balcony, and a suitable bathroom with a walk in shower which had good pressure and hot water available any time of the day. I stayed from 06 May until 15 May, whilst I was there there was an heatwave when the day time temp averaged about 27/28 C. Although they state on their website that all rooms have A/C, but what they do not say is that it is not turned on until June ! No matter what the outside temp is ! I inquired twice at reception about the A/C and requested a fan as my room which faced the afternoon and evening sun got very warm. I was told there were no fans available and that they had no plans to turn on the A/C ! So I emailed their head office and the following day a fan was delivered to my room ! Apart from my A/C gripes, it is not a bad hotel , the food is ok for a 3 star, I can not comment too much on the hotel entertainment other than whenever I walked past the music being played was really old and it was mostly packed with elderly spanish dancing very slow !

I booked this hotel mainly for the pools. I do a lot of research and use Google maps and they have some of the best pools in the area, even when compared to Lee expensive hotels

The service was not so bad but I there are a few reasons why I have this hotel one star. First of all I booked the Poseidon resort and not Poseidon Palace. Two different hotels in two separate buildings so this is very misleading to customers because the facilities and photos when you book are not the same. Suffice to say the pools are shared so that’s definitely a good thing but I did complain to the reception desk about this. Spain does this a lot and just a few miles down the road you have Victoria hotel and they have three separate buildings so just be aware of this

Here is a summary of pros and cons
The good points
Nightly entertainment daily
Good food selection in my opinion which caters for both meat eaters and vegetarians
about 900 meters from the beach and city Center
Walking distance to bus stop to and from the airport
Friendly staff
Rooms seems to be quite clean. You get a fridge and a walk in shower
You get a safe in the room for valuables but it comes at a cost if you want the key and you then need to carry that around. I prefer hotels that have a safe combination and no extra change as no key needed
Some English channels on TV. Good of them to do that for us
You get a decent sized balcony to sit outside if you wish
The pool staff are quite friendly and they have some nice things to do like some sports for fun and also have a foam gun for a bit of fun so you get covered in foam if yo7 like that sort of thing

The bad points
My rooks stunk of cigarette smoke. Initially I thought the cleaner was a heavy smoker but I worked it out. The people below me are heavy smokers and when I put the air con on the smoke would filter into my room. It’s a stupid system but that’s how it works and the smoke alarm is not sensitive enough to go off
The rooms are quite small compared to other places I’ve stayed
Please do not believe the reviews that all rooms have sea side views. This is nonsense. My room had a view of the street but then again, different buildings so be aware
No Sanitisers anywhere in the restaurant. I brought my own. Staff also lack backs hygiene as I noticed the cutlery had fingerprints. I always look out for this. The Management need to train their staff
This is not a negative remark but the staff at the restaurant do not understand English. It was difficult to even provide a door number or get bottled water. This is fine as I realise not everyone can be expected to speak English. If we visit a country we should at least be able to communicate in their language

The negative points mainly for me was the cigarette smell. Hopefully the reception will do something so I can at least turn the air con on. Right now it is off. The other important point is misleading people. I booked the resort and they put me in the palace which was not what I expected. For these reasons in particular I can not rate this hotel highly

Really enjoyed our stay here rooms clean and comfy tv has about 8 English channels, food I would rate 9/10 I’m quite fussy eater breakfast was fairly good decent sausages, only one microwave though for the whole of the dinning room they should get at least another two. Lots of continental choice as you would expect. 90% Spanish this is Spain so I preferred it. Entertainment every night which thoroughly enjoyed. I would come again

Terrible Hotel. Rooms Clean and Tidy and fully heated. That's all I can say that's good about this dump. Breakfast starts at 0800am {on the dot} already stone-cold, so-called Egg Chef turns up, every day, at 0830am so no fried eggs available to then, Hard-Boiled eggs available at 0800, Cold and covered in Chicken Droppings. The so called Head waiter was appalling, Grumpy and Stroppy and just about can give you a grunt. So the restaurant staff are the same. Luckly I only booked B/B, thank the Lord.

Response from At_ClientesHPOSEIDON, Manager at Poseidon Resort
Responded 22 Jan 2020
Dear Customer, We appreciate your comment on the rooms and the cleanliness, and feel we have not lived up to your expectations about buffet. The breakfast service as you indicate starts at 8:00 a.m. o'clock, in that we are very punctual. The cook who makes the eggs on the grill prepares them at the moment for all the customers and they come out hot. On the other hand, the eggshell has thousands of pores, should never be washed, if the eggs are washed, bacteria can penetrate and contaminate inside causing gastrointestinal infections. I can assure you, that our buffet food is one of the best valued services for all customers, and so they let us know in response to our hotel surveys. Kind regards, Ezequiel de Paz - Director

After a tea time arrival I went to the dining room after booking the drinks included with meal package. A surly older waitress asked how many & simply said you can sit there or there. I ordered a beer from the waitress & returned to find a bottle without a glass on the table in the middle of the space next to me. After finishing my main course, I asked the waiter Tomas, who was clearing my empty plate away, if I could have a glass of red wine. I explained that I had booked the drinks with meals. He replied in a harsh aggressive torn “I’m aware of that”. After a pause he then said to me: “have you been drinking wine all day.” I replied “no I haven’t.
I spoke to the manager to complain & Tomas later claimed all he had said was I was only entitled to either a beer or a glass of wine. I later asked the manager why he had not mentioned to me on the morning when we had first discussed the matter that that there that there was a limit of one drink on the drinks package. The manager then said that there was no policy that there was a one drink limit on the drinks package. I then asked the manager how, if we assumed for the purpose of argument that the waiter had said it was either a beer or a wine (which he certainly did not say), why the waiter would have said something he knew was not the policy. I told the manager it did not “ring true.” The Manager was unable to give a satisfactory answer as to why the waiter would mention a policy that did not exist. The manager said the matter was not important & there was nothing that could be done as Tomas had been there longer than him.
The Poseidon hotels has a clientele that is predominantly Spanish. The hotel was very busy & it was difficult to obtain a sunbed when I returned after lunch & the indoor pool was always busy with children & parents.

We stayed at the Poseidon Palace and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and cleaned every day with fresh towels. There were nice little touches like sachets of shampoo and soap. The shower was powerful and great temperatures. The balcony was just as clean and we had a great view of both pools, jacuzzi, mountains and a slight sea view too. The other hotel guests were mainly older Spanish couples which suited us as it made for a nice quiet stay. We were just booked for breakfast and it had everything you could want. Hot food, patisseries, meats and cheese, fruit, cereal yogurts and a selection of breads to toast. Tables were cleaned as soon as they had been used. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. It was a five minute walk to the old town and a five minute walk to the beach. A two minute walk away was the start of Calle Gerona which had an abundance of restaurants and a couple of bars. I will definitely be returning to this superb hotel.

With all the restrictions in place this year and in order to avoid a bleak Christmas I decided to take myself and my girlfriend for a Christmas break.
We booked all inclusive at Poseidon hotel from 23rd to 27th December. Upon arrival we were given directions to our room in one of the two hotel buildings. We had a very comfortable room with a nice view of the pool and grounds. All of the food and drink was included, very varied with choice of both Spanish and English food. Without exception all of the staff from reception, chefs, waiters, cleaners and entertainment were helpful, friendly and went over and above anything I could have hoped for. A special mention for the gala Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals. I certainly hope to visit again in the future, thank you

This hotel does not cater for disabilities or mobility issues.
We booked a family holiday here because the facilities looked amazing for my mother’s 84th birthday. On the day of arrival my mum got stuck in the outside disability lift for 10 mins and they had to get the maintenance guy. They put us on the 14th floor with no consideration of my mums needs, and seemed happy to argue about it. There is a rooftop area that has 2 jacuzzi pools which we only used once as it wasn’t accessible. We entered the area through the restaurant and were stopped because the staff said the doors were alarmed. The only other way to access it was to go to the ground floor pool area and climb 19 steep steps, which we had to do to get down. They made an exception just the once after I complained to reception to let us out of the restaurant door. They wouldn’t let us back in so we had to help my elderly mother down the steep steps. After that we were unable to use the jacuzzi at all.

The indoor pool was closed throughout the duration of our trip. The 4 or 5 lifts leading to the rooms were awfully slow. The bar staff were exceptionally rude.
We paid an awfully lot of money to stay there, we definitely wouldn’t go back.
The food was the same everyday, but plenty of choice. Sunbeds were an issue unless you woke up the crack of dawn to put your towel down you had no chance of lying by the pool. Hotel was dated in places, could do with an update.

Good points - nice swimming pool, good entertainment during the day and some evenings.

Good question. The answer is probably yes. I think that the indoor pool closes early in June. It is a good size. It is between 4 and 5 feet deep at both ends. It is properly heated.
