This is a review of the Bar Tropical that is situated within the Ambassador Hotel. We have stayed here before and enjoyed evenings in this bar, so although we were not staying here this holiday we wanted to enjoy an evening's entertainment here. Happy Hour starts at 8pm, which is when we arrived, and they have a bogof offer on spirit mixes. We prefer ours neat but the waiter said only mixes allowed, so we went for G&Ts. There followed a bit of well rehearsed repartee from the waiter about whether we wanted one of two each or just one. We ended up with 4 drinks, which is fine. The bill came to €9;40, which was a surprise as they advertise mixes for €3.50 each on their menu, but we paid up. We drank our first G&T slowly so the ice had melted in the second by the time we came to drink it. Guess what? No gin in the second drinks!! We discussed taking the drinks back but the waiter, who I could name but won't, had an unpleasant manner with us earlier and we don't like agro, so we left it. We then tried to recall -- did the waiter carefully put the first drink right where we would drink it first? Or was it an accident? Either way it's not a good way to keep customers coming back, so we won't. It was horrendously smoky in there anyway from the sliding doors that repeatedly open into the smokers passageway. Such a shame. Never mind, there are plenty of venues with the same entertainers doing the rounds.

Just returned couldn’t fault a thing about this hotel

Quick check in and polite staff arrived at 1 am due to delayed flight of 6 hours but the thoughtful staff had a bag of goodies waiting for us on arrival .

Dining room spotless and all staff amazing and so friendly and helpful , including the restaurant Manager think his name is Frank fab with customers always laughing and entertaining guests not afraid to help his colleagues either .

The food was top class always hot and plenty of choice

The hotel itself is spotless rooms cleaned daily

Covered pool area a bonus in February even though weather was 24/25 degrees

Cannot wait to return in April Than’s to all the staff

Perfectly located in all the hustle and bustle of Benidorm new town, we loved our stay at the Ambassador II in mid-March. The reception staff were fantastic and were so incredibly helpful. The room was a little tired and had some issues with obvious wear and tear that could do with repairing.

But honestly the location, staff, and fantastic view of the strip from our side pool facing room (without excessive noise issues) made it worthwhile. We stayed full board with Jet 2 and wouldn’t take the food package again as we felt it left a lot to be desired. Would also say we didn’t like the old-fashioned dining hall setup sitting with strangers whilst having dinner. Particularly didn’t like it when you were herded to a particular table with random people, rather than being able to find a less crowded (or private) table yourself when it was relatively quiet.

Would gladly return in its current state minus dining! Hope all of the team is doing well during the pandemic and life goes back to normal soon!!

The hotel has had a several million pound refurb. The bedroom, bathroom and balcony were all new, memory foam mattresses, decent size TV, large walk-in shower and the large balcony had a table and 2 chairs. We had a room overlooking the pool but at night we could hear very little noise. The soundproofing is excellent. Evening entertainment was top class, a pianist, Javi, started the evening at 8pm, then from about 9 o'clock there were 2 or 3 Tribute acts, e.g. BeeGees, Neil Diamond, Take That, Barbra Streisand etc. The restaurant has been modernised and there's a great choice of food. The waiters all wore masks and were friendly and helpful. Drink prices were favourable. The pools are lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds, although not as many parasols as there should have been. Other niggles are that you only get tea/coffee in the room on your first day. Although there was plenty of tea, coffee and sugar, the milk was not replaced and when we asked for more, we were told the facility is only available on your first day, otherwise there's a charge of 5 Euros a week. We did speak to the rep and management about this. The soap was not replaced either but we got some from reception. The Explorers Bar has separate entertainment and an outside drinking area at the back of the hotel. All in all this hotel is excellent value for money, in a very good location with great facilities.

Upon arriving we were given 2 key cards but throughout our stay only 1 would ever work , when we would visit reception they’d re do card but it would cancel original out . Severely lacks parasols (12 ) for both hotels that use the very small pool area . Struggle to grab a bed after 9 am and you’ll only get a parasol if you queue at 8 am for doors to open at 8.30 . Priority seems to be given to playa 2 unfortunately when the doors open . Only half of restaurant open so both hotels using playa 1 side so long queues in the morning or peak meal times , saying that too many casserole / stew meals so I just had salad and show cooking items . Food is good quality though . Bar staff in the pool area are good but check your change as was over charged a few times . 1 big issue I wasn’t keen on was the bed sheets were never changed the whole week even though they had a few marks on , it was hot and at home sweating I’d at least change them once in a week . Adequate rooms but no where for your cases and storage isn’t that great ! They allowed smokers to smoke around the pool area but some would smoke on their sunloungers which put me off a little and there were no lifeguards present so anyone with kiddies need to keep an eye on them in the pool as no child friendly shallow pools there . Evening entertainment was good , but plenty out and about anyway , unfortunately evening outdoor entertainment is by the pool area and not safe to have small children running around due to sun loungers piled up obstructing sight of the pool at night . Don’t be fooled by the air con it does work but doesn’t kick in for 5/10 minutes and only If patio door is shut and latch is closed . Id suggest taking your own mug and tea / coffee sugar if you can for the room but cheap supermarket only 5 minutes walk away if needed and an insulated cup for drinks you can chill in your fridge rather than paying for cool drinks in the day . We take an insulated lunch bag and buy ice and store in our fridge , lasts 2/3 days and doesn’t leak . I’d definitely stop here again , you won’t be disappointed in the slightest

Just back from a gorgeous week in the sun. The hotel ambassador playa 1 is a stunning hotel in the centre of benidorm. The bedrooms are very modern and plenty of space to keep belongings. The bathroom was amazing from the mirrors and the two different showers.Rooms were cleaned everyday. The staff in the hotel were brilliant, they are very helpful. The sunbeds opened at half 8 in the morning no queue, sunbeds filled up swiftly after breakfast had ended. The pool attendant went around from 10am- 1pm and removed any towels on beds that were not being used. The beach house bar by the pool had a variety of food that you could eat if you wanted snacks/ lunch, their food and drinks were not overpriced. I would highly recommend the restaurant as it was very well run by Frank the manager and his staff. It was my sons 13th birthday and we couldn't thank the staff enough of how special they made his day. We were so overwhelmed as they all made a fuss over him to make his day memorable, from beginning to end. The food was delicious and had a wide variety and selection available each day and night.
Overall our stay was fantastic from when we landed till we left. I will definitely be back. Thanks for the lovely stay. From Paula Mullan and family.

This hotel is really superb. 4* clean, comfortable and really friendly staff.

We visited in February, it was quieter so can imagine in peak season with 2 main lifts it can get very busy moving floors.

The rooms are a generous size. Ours overlooked the pool are and was facing the main road towards the popular bars (Western, Morgan Tavern, Black Chicken, Red Lion) but the balcony doors have excellent sound proofing so you don't hear the street noise. Again, off peak. No entertainment on a night so can't comment on that for a noise level.

The food is mainly fish and meat with salad but excellent selection and staff change the serving spoons regularly as well as cutlery. You do have to pay for drinks with dinner but they have a well stocked bar.

Our room had a mini fridge which was handy for storing bottled water or drinks. They provide complimentary tea and coffee on arrival, after then if you want it for the room you need to pay a daily fee. I collected coffee / sugar sachets from breakfast buffet and bought a bottle of milk.

The pool area is kept clean and tidy. Overall, clean hotel, excellent location for main areas, good food selection. I'd definitely book here again.

We have just returned from s wonderful holiday at this hotel and we can't praise the hotel enough. We have stayed at other hotels in Benidorm but this beats them all. The refurbishments have been done to a very high standard throughout but especially the bedrooms and bathrooms. Top quality fittings and lighting in the bathrooms were exceptional. The bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily. It is spotlessly clean throughout the hotel including the pool area. The restaurant food is first class , lots of choice all cooked and presented superbly. We must make special mention of the Restaurant Manager Frank who treats every guest as a VIP. Nothing escapes him any slight problem and he is on it. It was also reassuring to notice the Hotel Manager's presence in and around the hotel and in the dining room in the evening chatting to staff and guests. We will be certainly bebooking again in October.

Wondered what this hotel was going to be like after some of the reviews! No worries!
Hotel is spotless, room basic but clean. Good shower and towels fluffy and white (maybe we were lucky 😊) Not much in the way of toiletries, couple of tiny bars of soap and two sachets of shower gel (it’s a 3* after all). Sheets were changed in the middle of our weeks stay. Entertainment good.
We were absolutely delighted by the meals! We have not long come back from Egypt, stayed in a 5* posh hotel. The meals at this 3* were far superior! Always plenty of selection, well cooked and delicious! Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed them all!
Even the deserts were fab and I never eat deserts abroad! I gained a 1lb in two weeks in Egypt, but 3lb in a week at the Ambassador! That should tell you how good the food was!
It’s near to the lovely beach and walking distance to the old town (45mins). A walk to the cross is well worth it too. All in all we enjoyed our week at the Ambassador in Benidorm and would recommend it. Another bonus...WIF is FREE even in your room. And the air con works! We paid £223 each at this hotel and what an absolute bargain it was!!

Just booked in Yesterday, very impressed with hotel on arrival having stayed in Benidorm before knew the location and it is about as central as you can get. Slightly disappointed with the room (413) on the fourth floor as it really could do with updating Howevr is extremely clean, shame it's not facing the pool as it gets no sun at all! Would definitely ask for a pool facing room next time. Impressed with everything else though,..the food is absolutely excellent, loads of choice and plenty of it. The covered outdoor pool is a big bonus at this time of year and the Spa centre is one of the best I've visited, The normal price of using the Spa centre is 15 euros a visit but you can pay for 5 visits in advance for 50 euros or 10 for 100 euros.
So far so good and the staff all seem to be happy and really polite, well worth visiting 😎.
