What a gem of a hotel

Spent 2 weeks at the montemar in May 2022

First impressions reception small but efficient, check in took less than 5 minutes
Allocated room 106 smallish room but enough room for 2spotlessly clean and daily servicing kept it that way. balcony perfect for us with outstanding view of poinente beach and park and very peaceful.8
Fridge hire €15 safe £18 plus €10 deposit
Breakfast adequate if a tad repetitive.
Hotel staff we encountered were always friendly and polite. 6th floor cocktail terrace beutiful area with nice drinks and spectacular views.

Location perfect if like us you prefer a more traditional spanish area with great cocktail bars and some excellent restraunts.
Would reccomend the Montemar and will return someday soon

Our first trip to Benidorm, we decided to go for the old town to have a more relaxing stay. The Montemar is in the perfect location for accessing the Old Town just a short stroll away, the promenade and for walking along the beach to go into the new town if you wanted.
Overlooking the beach, the hotel was spotlessly clean, welcoming and had everything we needed including a fab rooftop bar overlooking the beach and seafront.
We had a standard room, overlooking the street at the back. The room was spacious, again spotlessly clean and had a good sized bathroom with grear shower. The balcony is small, no room to sit outside or place a chair etc and there is some noise from the neighbours occasionally as it's opposite a residential block but nothing to bad. Next time we would definitely book a sea view room, bigger balconies with seating areas and fantastic views.
We stayed bed and breakfast and really enjoyed it, food plentiful and always fresh with a good mix of hot and cold items and always different specials each day too.
The only downside for us was that the walls were very thin. We could hear the man snoring in the room next door, and people using the bathroom or talking above / next to us. We didn't ask to move rooms as we were only there for 5 nights and guessed that it would be similar whichever room we were in and the hotel did seem full. I'm sure if we'd asked the hotel would have helped though, it didnt spoil the holiday but I would book a sea view next time in the hope it's a bit quieter.

Room was small but adequate. No kettle, no fridge. Hired a fridge but told they do not hire kettles? The walls were very thin so could hear the neighbours talking/arguing. Staff on the whole friendly. Our room was on the 1st floor with the bar below us. We had smoke drifting up from the bar below, rooms constantly smelt of smoke and old ashtrays and corridors did as well. Stuck it out for a couple of days then paid extra to upgrade to a VIP room to escape the smell of the smoke and the noise from the bar (avoid 1st floor). The food was at best average. At breakfast there is is only one coffee machine and a result there are massive queues. The best thing about this hotel is the sea views thats why we gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

Thank you Tina for your review and for choosing Hotel Montemar for your holidays. Although I am glad to see that you enjoyed the sea views from your room, I am sorry to hear that some things did not quite live up to your expectations. For reasons of health precaution related to COVID-19, we are recommended to limit some elements such as kettles, coffee machines and amenities. We are sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused you. Hopefully next time we will be able to offer you all the things you missed this time. Concerning about the fridge in the room, our VIP rooms (5th, 6th and 7th floors) have the service included. In the rest of the rooms it's an optional service available on demand. Fortunately, as you upgraded to a VIP room you enjoyed these additional services for the rest of your stay. We really appreciate your comments, they help us to improve day by day. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Best regards, Manuel Moreno - manager.

Myself and mum regularly take a wee short break in Benidorm and this stay has to be one of the most disappointing because of the hotel.

The hotel looks beautiful and was very clean and we loved the location of it (specifically chosen for our favourite restaurant ReFuel Bar & Restaurant)

We booked with easyJet and thought we were getting an ocean view but turns out our room was at the back of the building. We asked how much to upgrade and the hotel requested €145 for 4 nights. We thought that was way too steep and much more than on booking (checked later)

The room at the rear of the hotel are woeful
Drab Abby look out onto an apartment building which is feels within touching distance. The road between them is a single service road so you get the picture. Not very fat at all.

We were blessed with a couple of days sunshine and the room was stifling hot and we could not work the air con. I asked at reception and was told all of the air con was off as it was not hot enough yet and the manager would not switch it on.

So in order to sleep at night we had to have the balcony door open, again a problem as it’s a service road so you hear cars all night and even the bin men come at midnight every night and they are certainly not quiet!

The hotel food was diabolical, we did not go down for the continental brekkie as cheese and meats are not our thing but we knew that when booking. We were half board and could choose between lunch or evening meal. We opted for our evening meal and this is undoubtedly the worst food I have ever been offered in a hotel.

There was a meat or a fish to choose from and a selection of veggies which were all over cooked and sloppy. A choice of chips or fried potatoes and some very strange cuts of meat. Turkey with a massive bone through it so can only presume that was a leg, we were even served a hamburger as our meat choice one night. No salad bun or sauce just a hamburger and chips.

Do yourself a favour and don’t book the meal options in this hotel, much better options at the copious amounts of restaurants and cafes with much better quality.

Over all our stay was disappointing in this hotel and had to be the worst we have experienced in Benidorm.

Fab location, clean rooms, stay away from the food and the back of the hotel and you will be alright.

Dear Sharon, I'm sorry to hear that your stay with us was disappointing, and that your travel agency wasn’t clear enough about the type of room they offered you. We always recommend, if possible, to book directly with us in order to avoid misinformation about the room types and the included services during your stay. I am also sorry to hear that food did not quite live up to your expectations. I would like to add that we have a very high percentage of satisfaction with our food amongst our British clients. We really appreciate your comments, they help us to improve day by day. Nevertheless, thank you for your kind words about the location and cleanliness of our Hotel. Best regards, Manuel Moreno - manager.

The double/twin rooms are definitely too small for two people, we booked a seaview room which we were glad of because without the balcony we definitely couldn't have stayed in the room allocated. The walls are paper thin so you hear everything going on in the adjoining rooms, we were kept awake several nights with noisy neighbours, not good!! Breakfast was ok, the orange juice is the cheap orangeade which was really disappointing. The cleaner was very good, dining room staff were friendly enough but we couldn't communicate with them as we didn't speak Spanish. Reception was definitely the weakest link, bit cold and unfriendly. Location is definitely the best feature of this hotel.

Decided after three years to have a holiday, so opted for sun, sea and sangria and went to Benidorm.
We booked into the Montemar, a hotel located in the quieter part of the resort.
Overlooking the sea front it was just a short walk to the sandy beach and a five minute stroll to the centre of the town.
Our room had all the refinements you would expect to find in a modern well run establishment, including air conditioning, television and an en-suite bathroom. Our beds were firm but comfortable. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were welcoming and friendly.
We only went for bed and breakfast, although if you wanted you could go for full board. The food on offer was good with a wide choice to suit most tastes.
We’d be happy to stay there again should we ever return to the resort as we felt it was excellent value for money.

Am still at the hotel as I write this, it is raining but still enjoying the break in this lovely hotel. Super clean, helpful staff, and our vip sea view room was great. A couple of issues though - there is no kettle in the room, we had to go and buy our own. Luckily we brought tea and coffee with us. It seems ridiculous that guests would have to get dressed and go search for a drink rather than enjoy a cup on the beautiful balcony. If you have a travel kettle, bring it. There have been negative comments regarding the food. The difference in price between b and b and full board on our deal was very small, it worked out that each lunch and dinner cost £1.60 per person. The food provided was incredible for that price, as much as you could eat with large amounts of choice. To complain about it is silly. Buy the deal, eat out if you're not happy. We found something tasty every day, fish turkey and rabbit are regular features, maybe too regular. No pepper on the table, you have to ask for sachets. Why?

The location is perfect, a short stroll from the old town one way or a pleasant walk along the seafront the other, with a large supermarket should you need it.

We love the hotel and it will be our first choice when we return.

Just back from 4 days in Benidorm old town staying at the Montemar. This hotel was very good. Both breakfast and evening meals were excellent and offered a good selection.
The rooms were very comfortable and cleaning was of a high standard with towels changed every day.
The staff were very courteous and efficent which only added to the enjoyment of our stay.
The view from our beach facing room balcony was spectacular.
The hotel had a mixture of guests but it is very popular with senior Spanish people although there were British guests too.
Breakfast and dinner time can get a little congested and there was a queue on a few occasions with guests waiting to be seated.
There is a bar downstairs which also has outside seating on the seafront which is nice but the roof terrace bar is the place to go for a drink as it offers spectacular views and as per the rest of the hotel, friendly service.
Unfortunately though, although we were led to believe that it was open from 6pm-1am , it only opened from 4pm-8pm whilst we were there and guests were asked to leave at 8pm which was dissapointing.
Maybe the opening times of this bar are seasonal and it will hopefully change.
All round an enjoyable stay.

There is evening entertainment but not all year round. Found out this year it stops during busiest months. We went beginning of September and there was no entertainment until about the 18th. Normally we go May or late September and there is entertainment then. All very Spanish which we love and the Spanish staff and customers seem to appreciate Brits enjoying their culture and encourage joining in. We love this hotel.Enjoy!

Hello! There are several options for your stay at our hotel. You can book standard rooms (no sea views), sea view rooms and also VIP (superior) rooms; and you can choose from Bed & Breakfast, Half Board or Full Board regardless of your room choice. We are not sure how easyjet manages the reservations, but the ones explained above are the Hotel Montemar's options through our website. You can also visit our website and take a look at the different types of rooms. I Hope that helps! Kind regards, Manuel Moreno, manager.
