Caro Hotel is a five-star monument hotel located in the heart of the city of Valencia. An urban and commercially independent hotel, its 26 rooms, all unique in themselves, and gastronomic restaurant are fine examples of the singular and highly respectful integration of its contemporary interior design, characterised by clean, geometric lines, designed by Francesc Rifé, with the original historical, architectonic features of the building. Below the eclectic appearance of a nineteenth-century palace, the hotel walls stand guard over a legacy of more than 2,000 years of history, which includes an original mosaic belonging to the founding of Valencia in the Roman era (2nd century BC.), the thirteenth-century Arabic defensive wall, several gothic arches and nineteenth-century constructions which, together with its warm, friendly, client-focused service, make this establishment a high quality must for all travellers who wish to enjoy a memorable hotel experience from a different perspective.

The Caro Hotel has garnered applause for its amenities, with travelers enjoying the little luxuries like a diverse pillow menu and high-quality toiletries. Although some guests find the hotel's pricing steep, the exceptional service often compensates, featuring a staff known for their attentiveness and welcoming extras. The rooms offer a blend of historic charm and contemporary comfort, but noise can occasionally be an issue.
The atmosphere marries old-world elegance with modern flair, and cleanliness is top-notch. Its prime location makes it a favorite for those keen to explore Valencia's old town.

This was my first trip to mainland Europe, and obviously Spain, and Valencia was my first city in Spain that I visited—and I wanted to have a memorable experience. We looked at a lot of hotels before choosing one and I'm so glad we picked the Caro. It was a lovely and unique experience. It's a small hotel with only 26 rooms, and each room has a different name that you can see on their website gallery (worth it!) The lobby is filled with Roman-era architectural artifacts and QR codes for you to scan and learn more about them. It is located in a great part of town near a lot of sites, so the location really can't be beat.
As far as our experience: we stayed in one of the bigger rooms that was actually down a flight of stairs, which may have kept it cooler during the big heat wave. We had some ants in the room (really not that many) and the hotel staff offered to move us to another room. They moved our stuff for us, but in the process misplaced a small item of mine. We never ended up finding it, which was frustrating, and the staff seemed apologetic but not overly so. We were offered free laundry service, which was much appreciated given how expensive the laundry is there, but then we were charged 25 euros for it in the end. So a few hiccups, I would have rather just stayed in our room and dealt with some ants, but it really isn't a huge deal. If I came back to Valencia I would certainly stay again but I probably won't come back to the city.

Stayed here for two nights with some friends. It’s a small boutique hotel with I think 26 rooms. The rooms were nice, and the bed very comfy…but maybe a bit too low for me as I have a bad back. From what I saw none of them have a particularly great view. The minibar and snacks are included in the price of the room, however there are no alcoholic drinks in the fridge 🙁. Coffee and tea were via room service and delivered very promptly after ordering on the phone (these are also included in the room price). I did not eat at the hotel so I can’t offer any feedback on their food offerings. Valencia is a great city, the hotel is located in the old part and is perfect for Virgin Sq (few minutes walk) where there are loads of cafes and street performers. Actually based on what I saw of Valencia the hotel is in a quiet street in a near perfect position. Finally the staff could not of been more friendly or helpful. Well done all, you are a credit to the owner/boss

This is a delightful 5 star hotel which is particularly well located for the old town. Its slightly quirky and the rooms are modern/minimalist in design, but everything is done to a high standard (e.g. Bulgari toiletries!). Unusually there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but it is provided free as room service - we had two excellent Americanos delivered each morning to start the day. We didn't try the Michelin star restaurant and there didn't seem to be an extensive bar food menu, but there are lots of options for food a short walk away. A very comfortable stay.

The hotel was beautiful and very historic. They had QR code’s located throughout so you could learn more about certain items or areas. That was the positive side of our stay. The large negative was the service past check in. We had a drink in the bar and no one cleared the tables or brought chips or olives - which we have always received throughout our trip to Spain. You also had to go up to the bar to get drinks and they were very short on their pours. The next morning when we went down for breakfast - which we were told at check in was included- we were very rudely told we had not paid for it and it was 25 euros per person. We have paid less for dinner.

Don’t be fooled like we were. This is not a 5 star hotel. I’m surprised its rated as such. If you go there like we did, expecting the treatment and attention to detail of a 5 star then you will be extremely disappointed. Firstly, there is no coffee machine or kettle in the room! I’ve never experienced that in a 5 star hotel!! Even the most basic 4 stars have coffee machines. They say you can order it at any time and they will bring it to the room, but one doesn’t want the inconvenience of having to wait for coffee whenever you want one. Especially if you’re like us and can drink 3 or 4 at one time! The quality of materials in the rooms are extremely basic, there’s nothing luxurious, even the floors are just pressed concrete. There’s no space to hang your clothes and worst of all the rooms are not sound proof at all. You can hear everything that’s happening in the corridors, so forget having a siesta! We were also unlucky that the room we had was close to the plunge pool which has a water jet that makes so much noise… and when there are people outside you have to put up with that noise too!
The hotel is tiny, if you want to have a drink you’re practically at the reception and the furniture is very modern, but uncomfortable… we paid around 350€ the night and stayed for 3… I would have preferred to have gone to a 4 star… most 4 stars we’ve stayed at are better. It was a great disappointment, We felt completely ripped off.
Staff were nice and amicable, but nothing to rave about… they didn’t even know how to prepare a basic cocktail.
I don’t understand how it can have so many excellent reviews, I can only presume that those that have rated it as such haven’t been to many 5 star hotels, especially in the area or Spain. They are completely different. If you want to pay over the top for a 4 star hotel then go here.. because it’s like a 4 star rating but overpriced.

Dear Mr. Mbarsh, Thank you for dedicating your time in valuing us. It was a pleasure to assist you during your stay in Valencia. We are truly sad to know that we have not met your expectations; we always make an effort to do our best to give to our guests the best experiences and make them to feel like home. The most important thing and what makes Caro Hotel special is that it has an unique architecture with more than 2,000 years of history and has been built on the site of a 19th century palace. The 26 rooms combine historical elements with modern design and exclusive touches of minimalist design, nothing overloaded. For this reason, none of our rooms have luxurious elements, because only the architecture and the exclusive design of the rooms is what makes it truly extraordinary and distinctive. We believe that our guests deserve the best and for this reason, we offer free tea/coffee freshly brewed in the room at any time. However, we will take note of your suggestion about include kettles/coffee makers in the room to improve the service. In addition, we love to solve any problem as soon as possible, in order to guarantee our customers a 100% satisfactory experience, that is why we would have loved to be informed about the noise in the room due to the water jet in the swimming pool, as we would have assisted you right in the moment. Remember our reception is 24h at your disposal, ready to help you with anything you may need. The entire Caro Hotel team is sorry you were not able to enjoy your stay as you would have liked but we sincerely hope you can give us a second chance, as we will be delighted if we can welcome you again in our hotel. Kind regards, Caro Hotel Team

As history buffs, we chose to stay at the Caro because of the unique way that archeological detail has been incorporated into its design and its ideal location for walking to everything in the old town area. What we discovered was that the beautifully restored archeological ruins contain an absolute gem of a boutique hotel! The elegantly minimalist decor creates a soothing, elevated ambiance. We appreciated the luxe amenities of our room from the perfect comfort of the bed (pretty sure the linens were ironed) to the well stocked (and free) mini bar and evening turndown service. The service was truly five star. All of the staff were wonderful but the front desk staff, bellhops, and valets were truly above and beyond! Together the team worked true magic - from pulling strings to get a last minute reservation for very good paella when everywhere was booked, to knowing how to get more accurate status updates on our lost luggage than even the airline customer service agent, to selecting restaurants and reserving spots at the perfect venues (one night something cozy and calm so we could continue the flow of relaxation after amazing in-room massages and another night a memorable dinner at a Michelin hot spot), sharing recipes for Aigua de València, and just generally sharing their love of Valencia. There was a sense of genuine warmth and friendliness in every interaction. The only challenge was not rearranging our entire trip so we could stay longer!

We've just spent 3 nights in the Caro hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The location is great - in a quiet street on the edge of the old town within easy walking distance of the main attractions. The staff are so helpful and couldn't be friendlier. The hotel is done in a lovely way with a combination of old walls and tiles alongside a contemporary and understated design. The daily buffet breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the additional menu items that were available too. Dinner at the restaurant was top notch and excellent value for money. Little touches like a treat left on the pillow each evening and a free minibar in the room with snacks were much appreciated! An excellent experience from start to finish.

What do you want from a hotel? Exclusivity, calm, relaxation, easy but beautiful dining, luxury, good coffee?
Style- The hotel Caro has an abundance of style. Set amid the remains of a 2nd century Roman palace, the dark hushed environment feels light years away from the hot busy streets of Valencia. The cool sounds of water from the terrace and the dim lighting with comfortable individual chairs posed in areas suggest contemplation… There are people there who enjoy their job, opening doors, suggesting Spanish restaurants all with tasting menus. Quintessential touches like needle and thread, toiletries etc and overflowing soft drinks bar could add to the sense of luxury.
Reality- We turned up on foot to discover one reception area where one couple were being checked in and another couple arriving behind us in a taxi, but known to the hotel, who were greeted and taken to the bar for the free refreshment. No one looked near us for 20 minutes.
Finally we were checked in, taken to our room and the main part of the talk appeared to be about the free minibar and coffee you could order to your room. If you pay £550 for 2 nights BnB nothing of that kind is ‘free’.
All reception areas are museum pieces. The bar felt like a waiting room. The courtyard dominated by a large swimming tank was meant for eyes only, but inevitably as the weather heats up, someone will take the plunge. I should imagine such a crass act in the heart of this calm hotel would be as ridiculous as it would be peace shattering. What would have been wrong with a green area with pond?
But there’s nothing soft about this hotel. No carpets, no greenery, no intimate spaces for 2. The posed chairs are on their own, even in the bar area. 2 chairs together are hard functional with hard functioning tables.
In room number 10 a low slung memory foam mattress made me woozy. The hard floor in the non rain shower was slippy. There was a connecting door to room 11 where you could hear the voices of the couple who took up so much time at reception. The old fashioned toiletries included lip balm and a tiny brush were wasteful in these years of climate change. The dark balcony looking over the tank had 2 loungers that were still soaking wet 36 hours after rain had fallen.
For me I’d rather not have had ‘free’ peanuts and coffee. We took ourselves off to a cheaper hotel with much more substance and spent the money we spent on the ‘free’ minibar on real experiences like restaurants and taxis and exhibitions.
The coffee was the greatest telling thing about the hotel. It looked the part but tasted of nothing.

However, please note that the most important thing and what makes Caro Hotel special is that it has an unique architecture with more than 2,000 years of history and has been built on the site of a 19th century palace and for these reason, a larger pool was not possible but we offer our guests the possibility to cool off in the warmest months of the year. The 26 rooms combine historical elements with modern design and exclusive touches of minimalist design, we are sorry that you were unable to enjoy the hotel rooms. Everything about this hotel was first class.
The sunken bath, the beautiful low level bed, lovely large walk in shower.
Each day we had a small sweet treat, the minibar was complimentary (filled with non alcoholic drinks water tonic coke ) crisps and sweet treats. Aircon was super effective in the Valencian heat.
The splash pool in the external courtyard was next to the indoor bar and functional but a relief to be able to dip into in the Valencian heat.
Staff could not do enough for us, whether it was organizing taxis and explaining to the taxi driver where we were going.
Several days before we arrived I asked if they would make a couple of reservations for us at restaurants - which they did.
Even when we had a minor technical issue with the TV - they immediately brought up a second TV (which allowed us to connect to Netflix) and then while we were out they sorted out that minor fault.
The staff were all fantastic
The hotel was top class
The location was perfect just round the corner from the cathedral.
Probably our best hotel stay ever.

Amenities that we especially appreciated included a spacious room with separate bath and shower, with the bath an excellent size and contour, a separate room for the toilet, a bed that was firm but comfortable and close to the floor, a pillow menu that included latex, a chair and table plus a recliner, contemporary design incorporating historic stone walls and tiles, and perhaps the best amenities were room service coffee and tea in the morning at no extra cost (there is no coffee maker or kettle in the room, and a no extra cost minibar replenished each day. The location on the outskirts of the city center is convenient but quiet, the staff and service was superb, the bar is well stocked and there is a restaurant in the basement that serves breakfast and dinner.
