Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a cheap no frills hotel, even though called a hostel. I stayed in a room with 2 other friends. It was clean and tidy. The beds were simple metal framed single size, but comfortable. We had an ensuite and was simple and basic, with maybe a coat of paint needed here or there. There was no TV, telephone, hairdryer or any other mod cons. However, this is a cheap hotel in the centre of Valencia. It is great value for a short city break. If you want something more luxurious you will have to pay a lot more money. We enjoyed our stay. Other friends with us did not have a full ensuite, but there were toilets and showers in the corridor. The hotel is very secure with a main door at street level, then you get a lift or stairs to the fourth and fifth floor. Then another door to enter your floor and then another door to get into your room. So I felt safe. No safety deposit box so kept all my valuables with me. In summary I would stay again for a city break and excellent value, if you want luxury pay more and go to a big city hotel.

Well what can I say its a 10 minute walk from the train station and bang in the middle of the city centre....The room is OK, decor is about 1950's :) Our room has a sink and a shower which looks like we have a phone booth in our room ( it's odd ) We have only one plug socket ( very odd ) If you can find the entrance at the firrst time of asking then your map skills are better than mine, The lift looks like it wants to break down everytime I step into it...Your find all the rooms up on the 5th floor...do not eat here as quite frankly there are heaps of places to eat...If its just somewhere where you will sleep then fine but I would look around at other places before you book here !!!!

I booked two rooms at the Hostal Moratin for myself and two daughters in February 2007. I choose it because it was very central and inexpensive. I had also read good reviews of it. Never having stayed in a Hostal before I was pleasantly surprised. There was not a back packer in sight, only well-behaved, generally middle aged tourists. My room had a private bathroom and was cleaned everyday and fresh towels put in. The gentlemen who run the Hostal were very friendly and efficient (they don't speak english though) but my daughters had fun practising their spanish on them. We had breakfast in the Hostal everyday which was coffee or tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, toast, butter and preserves and it cost 2 euros each. We couldn't have been in a better position for exploring the city or for cafes and restaurants. The hostal is very quiet at night which is unusual in such a noisy city.

Located in the center of the city of Valencia, this family-run place is great for travellers on a budget. I found it clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the proprietor was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback I found was that the drain in the shower in my room had some odor problems, but when I asked about it, it was explained to me that this was a problem throughout the city of Valencia, and I was shown how to resolve the problem. That is, the problem was not one the hostal could resolve fully, though they devoutly wished they could. I later discovered that this was true, that there were some peculiarities of the Valencian water system that made drain odors a problem throughout the city. That being the case, I don't hold the drain against them, and instead would heartily recommend the Hostal Moratín for budget minded travellers.

I stayed here for a week with my father. The hostal is in a fantastic location right in the city centre - just one minute walk to the main square. I had not stayed in a hostal before, so was taken aback by the simplicity of the room at first, and the fact that entry to the hostal was via a lift from the downstairs of a large apartment block - it did not have the appearance of a hotel. However, with more experience now of hostal accomodation I would say this was an extremely good standard for this category and great value for money as well.

The twin room had shower and washbasin and was very clean. There was a little breakfast room with tv, where the two friendly owners would sit and good naturedly allow my father to practise his very limited Spanish on them. We felt very well looked after here, as the two men were only too happy to help, whether this was fetching an extra blanket when I got cold (it was January) or bringing breakfast to our room on a tray a couple of times (my Dad said it was a bit cheeky of me to ask for that, but they cheerfully brought it anyway). At the end we asked if we could take their photo, and they seemed very pleased about this - we now have a lovely souvenir of these two smiling men to remind us of our stay in Valencia. If I come here again I will definitely stay at this hostal.

I've just come back from Valencia where I went for the weekend with a group of ROWDY friends. We stayed at Moratin and it was brilliant. The one guy is super friendly and helpful - although like most of the place people don't really speak english. The rooms were tidy, clean and comfortable with a shower in the room and towels etc. (unlike another review we had no drain problems). It's perfectly located to explore all aspects of the town. Absolutely brilliant, cannot recommend it enough (obviously if you're looking for a pensione and not a five star hotel) and we'll definitely be back.

We booked this place for Fallas 2012 and they took a deposit off us but then they have announced that they are doubling the price!! Still waiting to see if they give us our deposit back.
Be very careful when booking this place.

Reserved here mostly due to the price. After finding the place we were pleasantly surprised due to how amazing the location was. We walked everywhere! Not too far from the main shopping district or the bull arena, and close to great restaurants. No air-con or television, but do recommend.

The location of the hostel is really good since it is in the city centre, next to the city hall but in a calm street and the price is a bit expensive for what you find. The room just had shower and bathroom sink so the toilet was outside the room. The room smelt rather badly but it was clean. The man in the reception was so kind and friendly. The best of the hostel is the location and the service because it isn't a really good hostel.

We came especially for Las Fallas. This hotel could not be better situated. Even managed to book it quite last minute. Very friendly proprietor and staff. Don't expect a palace - room is very basic - but very clean. Breakfast very basic - but served with a smile, good conversation and a personal touch. For us the superb location of the hotel made for a great vacation!

Buonasera L hostal è vicino al mare ??
Answer from Valentina M
Chiavenna, Italy248 contributions44 helpful votes

"Room with just the shower was a surprisingly good choice. Think about it! Also the shared toilets were really clean and always available."
