On Nov 23 we parked outside the Matera city walls, and walked to the hotel. The helpful lady at check-in told us to go get our car and drive it through the city center. "but it's a pedestrian-only zone," I said. "Not to worry," she said. "We'll tell the police and it will be

My husband and I had a lovely one-night stay at this hotel, in Matera. We were a little intimidated by driving through the streets of Old Matera in order to reach the hotel, but we were instructed to proceed directly through the Piazza Duomo to the entrance of the hotel, and

The jaw-dropping view from our room window (305) was enough to seal the deal. There's a reason Mel Gibson filmed his "Passion on the Christ" here. And the remake of Ben Hur, and on and on. Strip out the electric street lamps and you have no trouble imagining you are in a

Hello Yes, there is parking available and costs Euro 18 a night. We were driving as well. I would call to the hotel and let them know to reserve it since their spaces are limited. They will also provide you with directions in how to get there(it is not easy by car) since your gps will send you somewhere else. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. Have a Great Trip! F

Dear Moirac35, the cost of a parking spot is 20 euro per night. The nearest swimming pool (indoor) is about 1 km from the hotel, 20 min walking. You can find 2 other swimming pools (indoor) at around 4-5 km.

You can drive to and park at the hotel. You have to have your car registration number registered by the hotel when you get there. Parking is quite limited though. It is also difficult to find the hotel by car in the first instance. I parked the car in the main street and found the hotel on foot before driving. The hotel reception is very helpful so either ring them for instructions or do as I did and walk there (its only 5 minutes from the main street).
