Matera is a special place and this B&B was a lovely place from which to see this. Our room was huge, next to breakfast room, with had a nice balcony that overlooked the Sassi. Our host were very nice and breakfast consisted of homemade products. Be prepared for a lot of hilly walks but it is worth it.

Very well-located for visiting the sassi, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casa di Ele. Giuseppe and his wife were extremely friendly and kind and email contact before arrival was quick and efficient. Our room was enormous with a balcony overlooking the sassi, the bathroom was well-equipped and the breakfasts contained plenty of choice (I didn't go to Basilicata... More

After reading all the Tripadvisor reviews, we were expecting so much more than we got. The host family is indeed friendly, but during our stay were preoccupied with other work and business commitments. It felt like the guests were not their priority. We stayed for 2 nights, but we didn't even have our soap replenished. Unfortunately we had the Mozart... More

We had a two night stay here while in Matera. Everything was wonderful and the owners went out of their way to be helpful- they were so nice to even drive us to the car rental place to pick up our car- way above and beyond! Great location and breakfast too. Had two wonderful dinners in Matera- recommended by owners... More

This is a nicely located b&b on the edge of the sassi, so theoretically you should get the best of both worlds with easy access from main roads and views of the sassi from the rooms. I'd recommend working out directions before hand however as our sat Nav directed us right through all the tiny streets in the sassi and... More

This is a small B&B overlooking the Sassi in a central location of Matera, close the the main square. The rooms are all newly-renovated and in excellent condition with good Wi-Fi, modern baths and refrigerators stocked with water and even a complementary bottle of wine. Fresh towels were provided daily. Breakfasts were excellent, and included homemade pastries, fruit, yogurt, cheese,... More

We were there for a short break and the ancient house where is located the B&B and Matera itself left us speechless! We had the Bach Suite, which is on the same floor as the breakfast room, but no noise as there are two ancient thick doors dividing up the two areas. The room is super clean, beautiful and huge... Step back in time as you are welcomed into the charming, centuries-old home of Tina and Giuseppe overlooking the Sassi of magnificent Matera. Your hosts have managed to create a simple elegance by both refining and expanding the number of rooms available for lodging without sacrificing the essential beauty of the buildings. Expect not only a warm greeting but also... More

Everyone raves about this place and the couple who run it, so your expectations are high...and then they are exceeded when you get there. We stayed 4 nights in October and what a treat in every way. It started when Raffaele suggested that we call when we were at the square. He and Tina got their car and came to... More

We cannot rave enough about our wonderful stay at La Casa di Ele. The stunning view of The Sassi (cave dwellings) from our balcony of The Bach Suite was beyond all expectations. We were in awe when we walked into the cavernous room. What a magical experience it was staying there. Matera is a much bigger 'town' than we had... More
