We had the most wonderful stay at this hotel. I travel quite a bit, but i can’t fault anything in this hotel. It is the best hotel i have stayed in during all my years of travelling. All the staff were so lovely and helpful 24/7. Serena was our first point of contact and checked us in. She really set the bar high for her wonderful customer service skills.

Our room had a great sea view. The room was clean with a lot of space. They were cleaned daily by the cleaners and bottled water was topped up. The breakfast service was amazing and all the restaurant staff were very friendly. They also provided us with bottled water for our journey back to the airport in a nice bag which i thought was a special touch.

The hotel is in a great location. It’s a 10minute walk to Amalfi town or you can get the hotel shuttle bus which takes 2minutes.

You won’t be disappointed staying in this hotel.

This is rated a 5 star hotel, but in other parts of the world you would get much more from 5 stars and the price you pay.
The standard double room has a nice view and the bathroom is nice but storage/wardrobe happens to be a soace behind a curtain, which I thought was a bit poor. It could be understood as a way to keep the architecture of the room, but it looked cheap. Cleaning service is very good and staff are friendly and polite.
Staff at reception is a draw of the luck. Our check in person was not good, we had ask for breakfast times and rules and how the pool worked. Check out staff seemed more prepared. Staff at the pool was super friendly and hospitable.
The pool is a highlight! Due to covid restrictions, you need to book chairs by the pool which we luckily did before. Otherwise you might have to use the chairs that are not in front of the pool.
Breakfast was strange due to covid. There was no buffet and you had you had to ask most things from staff at the counter. At times they did not seem ready. There was a good variety of food, hot and cold food. Again, regardless of covid regulations, Other 5 star hotels offer better breakfast service, more variety, better quality.

All in all i would reate this an overpriced 4 star hotel, but then what isnt overpriced in the Amalfi coast?

Beautiful 5 star hotel. 90minute transfer from Naples Airport the NH Grand Hotel Convento di amalfi is located in Amalfi Town. If you are fine with steps you can walk into town via a beautiful walkway within 10 minutes. Alternatively the hotel offer a shuttle into town and back every hour. This hotel in every aspect hits that 5 star rating. The rooms are stunning, the facilities are awesome, the food is delicious, the location and views are outstanding and the staff cannot do enough for you. A few of the staff really went over and beyond for us, the complimentary upgrade on arrival, our usual coffees at breakfast already on their way when we sit down, the concierge giving us bottled water for our journeys... it was these little touches that made it such a special place. A special thanks to Kristien, Marco, Andrea and Serena. Please be aware in the current situation masks are mandatory inside and outside in Amalfi, this includes inside the hotel. Reservations need to be made to use the pool area but this helps to ensure social distancing and that 5 star experience. The grounds are breathtaking from the original monestry within the hotel to the meditation walk to the rose covered terraces. Just Beautiful. We chose to arrange a private transfer from naples Airport which cost 65euros. We used the local buses throughout stay which we found to be plentiful and the stop is located where the shuttles drops you in Amalfi. If you are considering a stay in Amalfi then I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

THe Amalfi Hotel Convento di Amalfi is on a very impressing Location
The view from Swimming poool, the Restaurant and the Bar couldnt be more impressive and unique.
Unfortunately this Hotel lacks the Grandeur and cosiness of other Luxury Hotels.
The Rooms are in a very rather unpersonal slick white style... more looking like an "IKEA Hotel" and it shows at staff, Reception and general services.
All rather unpersonal and NH standard.
THis Location would be great for a Belmond Hotel, or Four Seasons and that sort.....

Dear Guest, On behalf of all the team here at Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi, thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel and for letting us know about your stay. The first thing that is deserved is to express my sincere regret and extend you deep apologies for not granting your expectations. Of course I can assure you that what you wrote does not reflect out concept of hospitality and our style of work. Nh standard are really high and we are proud to apply them and give our guests a lovely experience. Let me clarify also that the hotel is an old Monastery from the XIII century so rooms reflect also the architectural style. I do remain at your complete disposal looking forward to welcome you again at our hotel Kind regards Giacomo Sarnataro General Manager

We had a stay at the Convento di Amalfi for a week. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a great view on Amalfi as a whole.

However, the customer service there is severly lacking, so much that I cannot say that my experience within this hotel was positive.

The valet is agressive and made us wait 20 mins to pick us up to the hotel when it’s a 5 min trip from the main square. (He even saw us, told us to wait and then came back…)

The staff at the reception also needs a serious training on communication.

When we arrived, we were told that we could pay the entierety of the stay in cash after our specific demand. However, right when we were checking-out, they inform us that it is not possible and that we need to pay most of it by credit card.

One of the waitress made us wait a whole hour on the wrong pier for the boat that goes to their private beach, we had to call the beach ourselves !

Finally, having a bus that leaves early morning at 6:15am, we ask for a shuttle to drive us there at 6am at least. However, one of the receptionnist (Delfina) tells us that we got the time wrong and that on Sundays the bus leaves at 7:00am. To our big surprise (…), the bus actually left at 6:15am like we were initially told, and we had to pay another 200 euros to get a taxi so we didn’t miss our flight…

For a resort that practices those kind of prices, you would at least expect some kind of decent customer service. Sadly it is not the case at Convento di Amalfi which needs to improve their staff’s communication skills…

Dear Guest, On behalf of all the team here at Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi, thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel and for letting us know about your stay. First of all let me express my sincere regret regarding the misunderstanding with the staff communication. At the same time please let me kindly clarify that cash payment in Italy is allowed by law for a maximum of € 2000,00 this is the main reason we ask to pay always by credit card. Looking forward to welcoming you back with us! Best regards, Giacomo Sarnataro General Manager

Amazing view, but that’s all. They didn’t ask for corona vaccination certification!!! Very poor English language knowledge in reception/ service. Some waiters cannot speak English at all. Rooms are very clairaudient so that you can hear every guest. No sleeping night because of parties/ weddings/ other guests. Gardeners are very loud very early in the morning. At rainy days the windows are very loud because there is no seal. To „Private beach” you have to go by boat and MUST pay 40€ (!) per person only for towels and beach chair. At breakfast pancakes etc are not fresh. In front of the entry there is no way for pedestrian so that it’s very dangerous to cross the way. But there is no other sidewalk so that you have to cross this dangerous way several times per day. Too expensive for missing so many services.

Dear Guest, On behalf of all the team here at Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi, thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel and for letting us know about your stay. Please let me kindly clarify some points of the review: - All of our staff talks perfectly english as is the basic requirement to work in a location as ours - Regarding the rooms please do consider that our location is an old Monastery so we need to respect the architectural style of the building - The beach is an external service that we suggest and we can assure that the cost is lower than the average one on the area. - We do apologies if the wedding music till 00.00 did not allow you to sleep well. Looking forward to welcoming you back with us! Best regards, Giacomo Sarnataro General Manager

I can't say enough good things about this place. This former cliff-side monastery has been elegantly transformed into a first class hotel and organic farm. The property invites you to explore the on-site sanctuary, walk of the monks and private trails down to the Amalfi shore. The front desk staff could not have been more helpful, giving us a generous room upgrade and helping us book transfers in the midst of the virus crisis. The wait staff was always friendly and served us delicious meals and drinks even though the hotel was almost empty. You won't regret making this hotel the base for your next adventure to the Amalfi Coast

We recently enjoyed seven nights here, our first time to the Amalfi Coast. It was a special occasion as I had organised it for my wife's 60th birthday so I had high expectations, but we certainly weren’t disappointed. The location with the spectacular views over the bay was superb. You can spend hours on the balcony (with a cocktail in hand) just watching all the activity on shore and on the water.

We had opted for one of the more expensive rooms with its own Jacuzzi and a large private balcony area which was great although set back slightly so a row of rooms in front of us (but lower) had a much more expansive view. The room was by any standards modest in size and perhaps the only disappointment was that the room was very tired and dated. Our perception was effectively confirmed when we were told by one of the management team that the hotel is closing after summer for about five months of complete internal renovation and refurbishment.

The other thing that was disappointing was the housekeeping staff whose efforts were cursory to say the least and had to be asked several times to replace outside towels, tea and coffee and a dirty glass with lipstick on it.

This contrasted with the front of house staff who were superbly professional and great fun to banter with. Special mention must be made of Ahmed, Marcelo, Angelo, Vincenzo, and Diego. Great guys and a huge asset to the hotel and the business who really added to the enjoyment of our stay.

The breakfast buffet options were extensive, and we dined in the evening on the hotel balcony 5 of the 7 nights (couldn’t get enough of the views). The food and wine were excellent.

This is top of the line for Amalfi so don’t expect a bargain, but if you are looking for something superb and truly memorable, you will have trouble finding anything better.

The hotels located in an excellent place for views of Amalfi. Rooms were good and bed was comfortable. Towels could be refreshed with new items. The patio for drinks and breakfast / diner had biting ants which the staff did nothing to control after having them pointed out. When we went to the pool area every chair had used towels and glassware on every table. We had to ask someone to clean an area. With a little effort this could be a magnificent property.

Two nights in a magical location, quiet and with those wonderful views. Room 101 was fine, decent size, quiet and with a nice balcony, although getting to it was a little bit of a puzzle. We loved the retention of the old cloisters and chapel, the terraced gardens, and the old monks' walk into Amalfi town, which is a lovely stroll in itself.
The staff were (with one rude exception, at breakfast) very attentive and helpful - and a special mention to Ahmed, Guest Relations Manager.
Breakfast was good - generous range, although it would have been helpful to have guidance (for example on where/how to order cooked eggs, which seemingly were available, but only if you hunted).
For the amount they charge, however, we have a right to expect everything to be perfect - but our room was in need of some maintenance: broken latch on the shutters, very tired tiling in the shower, broken glass "bulb" in one bedside light, peeling/fraying on the bottom of the bathroom door. And when we requested an iron, we were offered a steamer, which then we found didn't fit into any of the electric plugs and was taken back from us as apparently in great demand. All of which took a bit of the gloss off what otherwise was a lovely stay.

Yes it is extremely quiet. As you can see from my review this is the best of the best. Beautiful rooms and views and the staff are the most professional of all of the hotels we have been to throughout the world. It is a short walk from downtown but far enough removed.
