Me and my husband have visited the Amalfi cost a few times. But this year has been by far the most extraordinary experience thanks to a newly opened hotel, Borgo Santandrea. We were happy to try something new.
The location in itself is breathtaking: secluded in a natural corner of the Amalfi coast, surrounded by incredible rocks and with a private beach…the view embraces all possible shades of blue of the Mediterranean sea.
And very special was the fact that we could enjoy this incredible view everywhere, from the restaurant to the room and even the bathroom…which seemed suspended above the sea!!
Not less important, the access to this ‘private’ beach was made very easy and fast by elevators hidden in the rocks. If you forget the sunscreen, it is much appreciated!!

The hotel is inspired by the Mid-century italian design. Blu is the ‘file rouge’ and the decor is impeccable. There is clearly a maniac attention to detail and a passion behind every choice, from the hand made tiles, typical of the area and unique for every room, to the mix of modern and vintage furniture. Some of these vintage pieces I would have taken home with me…a real treat for interior passionates like myself!

And then the soul…
Beauty is important but the atmosphere, the service, the people at Borgo Santandrea were perhaps the very special touch of our stay.
Service was at the higher standard in the nicest way: it’s a family owned hotel and you can feel it.
Maurizio, the General Manager, welcomed us as if we were the guests of the week…and the staff followed.

Quite unique, just like the amazing food!
As a combination of the two, the chef of one of the three restaurants, very friendly, gave me a recipe in all its details, of an incredible starter that he prepared for us! And I tried making it at home and was perfect. This never happens…

No doubt we will try to be back as soon as possible.

For a hotel that has essentially had its first proper season, we agree with the other reviewers that BSA is very special and has the potential to become iconic like Villa Feltrnelli on Lake Garda. With the whole world to explore, we don’t often stay in places more than once (except for VF of course) but we will definitely return here. On hand daily, GM Maurizio and AM Gaetano run a tight ship of fabulous staff without an ounce of attitude. They’re more like family really. The Gio Ponti inspired design is absolutely stunning yet comfortable enough to walk through barefoot as you head to the private beach below. BSA feels like an oasis and is a joy to return to after exploring the often chaotic touristy towns along the coast. The boat shuttle with Enzo is enormous fun! Definitely the best way to travel between ports. The food was well above par, I wish we were breakfast lovers because the offering is one of the best we have seen anywhere in the world. Alici their more relaxed dining room was excellent but the highlight was definitely La Libreria for an elevated Italian degustation. Our favourite was the fare down at the beach club, fabulous Neapolitan pizzas and beautifully rendered traditional pastas. The salads were delicious as well when your system needs a break from the superb spaghetti vongole, bread…and pastries which line every surface throughout the hotel!
Don’t miss cocktails on the terrace before dinner. The white peach Bellini was my favourite but the quality we saw served to other guests was worthy of a hip mixologist bar in New York or London.
Maurizio was at the front desk to bade us farewell and explained all the exciting new additions he has planned. Infinity pool and jazz by the beach at night await.
Thank you Marco at Concierge, Pasquale, the many Enzo’s, Nicola, Francesco, Maria, Alyssa, the gorgeous housekeeping staff, the caring spa therapists and the ever smiling team at the beach club….and everyone back of house that keep this beautiful resort hotel humming.
We can’t wait to return and for us, that’s saying something!
Grazie mille 💞

The Amalfi coast seems to have a hotel micro economy all of its own. Read the reviews elsewhere of high disappointment in highly priced but tiny box rooms with little views etc. Well. If you are prepared to stump up the eye watering prices here then you will not be disappointed by the calibre of property, location, room and view here. It is truly stunning. Ideally located between Amalfi and Positano. Parking too. Good Wi-Fi. Beach and pool facilities too. Terrace restaurants are great for views and for the quality and abundance of good. Breakfast is particularly good. Concierge super helpful.

So why not 5 rating? Well the service still appears in soft opening mode, super vibrant and busy but haphazard and not always providing, well, the service asked for. Shuttle to Amalfi needs a little attention too. Less upbeat and more delivery may improve things. I’m sure these minor teething issues in this new property will be easily ironed out.

Fundamentally it has the wow factor from the moment you arrive!

My husband came across an article about this new hotel opening in Amalfi this summer. We decided to try it even though it just opened and there are so few reviews. Borgo Santandrea is a GEM.

The General Manager Maurizio and his brother Salvatore checked in on us and all the guests throughout our stay and made us feel like we were staying at a stunning family villa. The individual attention we received made us feel constantly like we were truly their guests. Their pride in the project is felt in all that they do.

We are so blown away by the beauty, warmth, and incredible overall atmosphere this property offers. From the delicious food, to the stunning vistas, the mid-century decor, the warm helpful staff anticipating every need - Borgo Santandrea is bar none the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. The vibe is youthful, causal chic, pristine, manicured, with gorgeous gardens, thoughtful seating arrangements, gracious furniture throughout. The private beach (the only on the Amalfi coast!) and clear blue, inviting sea for swimming makes this hotel an excellent escape if you’re looking for privacy. The amazing swimming pool cliff side is spectacular. The easy trip from town made this location perfect, although the restaurant was so delicious we ate all of our meals in house! The chef is beyond talented. The breakfast buffet is the nicest we’ve ever seen, including what we experienced in South Africa - really next level.

We’ve stayed at many hotels throughout Italy over the years, and I can honestly say this one stands out as exceptional. Other luxury properties in the area feel very old world, and tired in comparison. We are leaving here after three days of pampering and enjoyment. We can’t wait to return…thank you for the most amazing, relaxing weekend that will stay with us for a long time!

The hotel is gorgeous - a lot of thought was put into every detail of the space. For anyone who loves design and architecture, this place is an aesthetic dream.

The staff went out of their way to make us feel happy and welcomed in the hotel — it was an important trip for my family, celebrating a couple of occasions, and they made it extra special.

Everyone working there seems very proud and happy to be associated with the hotel. Maurizio, the general manager, also really went out of his way to personally talk to all of the guests and make sure that everyone was enjoying their stay.

The rooms are spacious and impeccably clean and beautifully designed. The work that went into building an elevator in the cliff to bring you down to the beach must have been quite an undertaking but worth the effort. The beach club is stunning with a private beach for guests with beautiful clear water. There is also a beautiful saltwater pool.

Breakfast was delicious and quite decadent. Nicola, our server on a few occasions, was such a gem- so sweet and funny and really made us laugh.

Thank you so much to the entire staff for creating the best environment for a relaxing and luxury vacation.

Borgo Santandrea has taken traditional Italian decor, cuisine, Amalfi history and reimagined it in every way. The Hotel is a marvel, sitting on a cliff with amazing stonework, terraces with beautiful flowers, olive and fruit trees. The location is so stunning, with a wide expanse of windows and terraces all overlooking the turquoise sea. Inside the ceilings and the architectural details are truly stunning. Ceramic tiles in blue and white, blended flawlessly with midcentury furniture and incredible lighting. There are collections of antiquities, books, photographs, fun sculpture, art work, and flowers in every niche and on each shelf. We loved seeing something amazing every time we walked through the hotel. The detail in every decision when building this hotel is apparent. We were greeted warmly and with such kindness by the entire staff. Everyone smiling, inquiring about our plans each day, always so attentive. The world-class food is truly amazing. Borgo Santandrea chefs and culinary artisans prepared us the most incredible meals and delicious desserts. Some of my FAVORITE THINGS: Boat ride from Borgo's private beach. Extravagant breakfast- brunch, more than you can ever eat, it is a feast! Specialty drinks at the bar, so good and so fun to watch the mixologists at work. Pizza in the grotto, it is made right in front of you and the aroma of the pizza cooking is incredible. The colors of the sunsetting at night over the water, and the beautiful blue colors everywhere.

We will never forget our incredible stay at Borgo Santandrea and can only dream of going back. Built on an incredible location with magnificent views it is the only 5 star hotel with a private beach in the Amalfi coast. The architecture, the design and the rooms are truly exquisite, combining the new with the old and the modern with classic, offering a gorgeous contemporary accommodation that remains unmistakably rooted to the local artisans and history. The restaurants offer an incredible culinary experience, while remaining laid back, therefore allowing us to truly rest and enjoy. Whether we were walking through the kitchen for the best breakfast experience, siting in our room and enjoying the breath-taking Amalfi Coast or enjoying a cocktail in veranda we felt happy, relaxed and in love.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I was so blown away by this hotel that I felt the need to spread the word.

My stay at Borgo was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I arrived, each staff member I encountered was so warm, welcoming, and ready to assist, but not overbearing.

The GM, Maurizio, makes it a point not only to meet every guest, but to actually get to know them. He’ll give out his number and be available to help with whatever you need.

The location of the hotel can’t be beat, nestled into the cliff side close to Amalfi. The views from everywhere around the property are absolutely breathtaking. Their private beach club gives you access to the crystal blue ocean down below and has a fun, but relaxing vibe.

The design of the hotel and the rooms are very classy and well done. The attention to detail is also very impressive — each room has a dyson hair dryer in it! What a cool touch.

When I checked in, they told me not to miss breakfast (which is a meal I don’t typically eat). But I’m so glad I experienced it - besides the food being phenomenal, it’s such a cool concept (but I won’t ruin the surprise…) Suffice it to say, it’s probably the best breakfast in town.

I had a couple massages during my stay which weren’t the best I’ve ever had (I’m a bit spoiled in this respect though), but Borgo isn’t a spa hotel so I won’t hold that against them - it’s nice that they offer spa services at all.

Overall, I would highly recommend Borgo Santandrea to anyone and will definitely stay here any time I visit the Amalfi coast again.

My husband and two sons stayed at the Borgo last week for 3 nights. I can truly say it was the most beautiful hotel I have ever been to. The location was perfect. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Positano and Amalfi. Perched on a cliff with a private beach and dock. We dined at all three restaurants and each was amazing. The breakfast experience was first class. A buffet in the kitchen with everything you can imagine. We sat for at least an hour each morning enjoying the view and our breakfast. We enjoyed the private beach and had homemade pizzas, cocktails. We utilized the private dock and took a boat to both Capri and Positano. The rooms were beautiful furnished and had a balcony overlooking the water. As a designer, I was especially impressed by the decor in the hotel, from the private collection of mid-century furniture, to the art, and the varying hand made blue and white tiles throughout. I cannot say enough about the service and attention we received from the staff and especially Tano, the manager. Tano suggested activities, drivers, places to visit in the area, and treated us like we were the only guests in the hotel. He would greet us every morning at breakfast to make sure everything was perfect and was so friendly and helpful. I have never had such great service at a hotel. If I could give this hotel a 10 rating I would and I will undoubtedly be back.
