The Hotel Croce di Amalfi, once an historic house belonged to the aristocratic family Scoppetta, is situated in the ancient district "Vagliendola", one of the most panoramic and suggestive place of the city. Surrounded from picturesque houses and overlying from the bizantinic belltower of saint Biagio's church, the Hotel has an unique and privileged location and offers breathbreaking view. Very closed to the Cathedreal and the beaches, reachable with a a staircase of about 77 steps, the position's hotel makes possible for our guests to reach in a few minutes the bus station and the mole for the boats departures and to visit by foot the historical center and walk along the seaside promenade. The renovation works, finished in the year 2011, kept the ancient look the same as before but inside is made comfortable and modern. Owners' love for the art has made a perfect union between history and tradition, ancient and modern, mediterranean and classic styles. The cross ceilings and the tipical amalphitan capitals give to the structure the historical charm of the ancient sea republic.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Cons: - Air conditioning was locked on low at 29*C/84*F - Wifi only worked near the room entrance - Complimentary breakfast included bland breads and terrible coffee - Situated on busy street with extremely loud traffic all day and night *All of this resulted in zero sleep* Pros: - Situated near the port and Piazza Duomo

The pros: beautiful views and location is close to ferries and the Duomo. The cons: You are on the busiest road (the only road) of Amalfi and it is LOUD all night. The air conditioning is not really AC, it is a fan that blows cool air (80 F/29 C) only if you are in the room with the key placed in the wall. Only one outlet actually fit plugs. The shower felt like it belonged in an RV. The room was cleaned, but towels were not replaced after days and our bedspread was taken and not returned (didn’t really need it as it was so hot in the room anyway). Breakfast is included, but should be skipped.

Great hotel, centrally located in Amalfi with friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet with beautiful views over the bay. It has about 80 steps to reach it, so less ideal with bulky luggage. Rooms are normal size and clean.

Nice place to stay with a lovely view. Amalfi very busy during the day - best to go out after the day trippers have gone. Bear in mind it is up 75 steps from the harbour. Ignore google maps from Piazza Favio Gioia, take the underpass below the coast road near the Arsenale

Very nice and quaint boutique hotel with very few rooms. Nice sea view room but facilities seem a bit dated. b'fast was OK. Very hard to find when we arrived so our driver dropped us by the harbour. Many steps to carry luggage, so not recommended for travellers who are physically challenged. But very charming, nice terasse with sea view. Helpful staff and close to Piazza del doge. I would likely stay again.

We loved the whole experience. Our room was absolutely clean and very comfortable as it was wide , very well lighted. The bathroom was also very nice. The shower was very nice as well. Federica definitely made the difference since check in time until we checked out. She was very helpful and always did her best to fulfill our requests. We booked the car parking through the hotel and their service was very precise and careful. We would definitely recommend this nice little hotel and would definitely go back!

The view from the Hotel Croce di Amalfi is fantastic - though you obviously have to work hard for it and therefore be prepared to climb up quite a bit of stairs, before arriving to the hotels entrance. Rooms are neat and clean and staff is very friendly.

It is a basic hotel and it does offer a basic breakfast (from a spectacular view) the room itself was very spacious and clean...however.... Laura and Frederica from the front desk were very hospitable and helpful as my girlfriend and I had never been to Amalfi. They helped us and advised us with transportation options, beach chair reservations and nightly entertainment options. They were also very kind to bring us ice to our room after a slight ankle injury. We also want to thank the gentleman that were kind enough to transport our heavy suitcases up and down those 70 steps of stairs.

This hotel is pretty basic and could benefit from a look at what others are doing for the same price The breakfast was bare minimum, it's not that the food is not available you just had to walk down to the shops to purchase the stuff Our room was supposed to have a large double bed, this was two pushed together and we spent most nights pushing them back together, not on for the money we paid Our Internet, which was free, when it worked, persist and you may get it to produce the goods With a little more effort from the owners, this could be a good place to stay You are only given 2 hrs to have your room cleaned or miss out. The girls on the breakfast and desk looked tired and not really interested Our room had a number of power outlets, only two worked, two were hanging out of the wall and not very safe Actually, the best thing about this hotel is the picture it portrays at the side Could do better, just a money gathering centre as you are possibly only there for three or four nights they some other body is in the room Sorry, but take a look at your operation, it's obvious that you do not care about your guests but for their money
