Great hotel in great location. The hotel is in the middle of the Main Street where you will find many stores, cafes and restaurants and few minutes walk from the central bus station, the ferry and the beach. The room and the bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good, we ate it on the roof surrounded by a beautiful view. Although our room was above the Main Street, it was quite. The staff and the manager were very nice and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great little hotel right in the heart of Amalfi. Run and owned by Christian, he works very hard to provide for your every need. They offer an amazing assortment of breakfast options on the rooftop patio each morning and Christian himself will make you a fresh cappuccino to start your day off right.

This hotel is absolutely perfectly located right in the heart of Amalfi with access to everything! only a short walk to the port to access the rest of the coast. The beach is just down the hill. The main strip of shopping is just out front! However, being set up a bit high you get to enjoy the view of the strip without the noise of the strip!

Rooms were clean and spacious! anything you asked for was brought to your room within 5 minutes:

Christian was absolutely incredible! His level of hospitality was above and beyond! he helped us create our itinerary with perfect recommendations making this a trip of a life time, he was very attentive , responsive , and easy to communicate with.
Christian, thank you so much for making this stay so incredible!

Ok, this hotel is tricky to rate, in one hand the location was great, right in the middle of the town, a short walk to the cathedral and beach, also the guy in the lobby was very helpful and the room was spacious and clean, we arrange to be picked up from and to the airport and it was fast and pleasant, ($120 each way for 2 people), but there are some issues to be aware of: the breakfast was just ok, the 2 ladies attending to it were very nice, but there’s not a lot of choices and some items like cold cuts, cheese and bread run out quickly and sometimes it is never replenish or not in time for you to enjoy it, the bathroom had a smell all the time, even though it was clean, still smelled like sewer, also the toilet seat wasn’t the right one for that toilet, all the jetted tubs you see in the pictures don’t work (at least mine didn’t) room “el conte” and according to what I was told non work. Also in the website pictures shows a small table and 2 chairs but there were not in the room.
The bed was comfortable but they need new towels today!!! It will scratch your face…
I’ve been in many hotels in Italy and in many cities in over 20 different countries, and let me tell you Italian hotels are weird, even the good ones…internet is ok about 70mbps. If I come back to Amalfi, I will consider this hotel again, but only because there’s not a lot of choices if you don’t want to spend $2000 usd per night and for the location.

Our stay at this property was extremely enjoyable. It is easily accessible to ferries, the beach, shopping, and dining. Staff are incredibly helpful with advice with setting up local services. Our room was cute and comfortable. Outside seating areas and the rooftop breakfast area are an added bonus. Highly recommended!

this is the an extreme case of bait and switch. i thought i was booking a room at the hotel but it turns out i booked at their apartment. The apartment is in a horrible part of almalfi, not close to anything of interest and a very undesirable location.
unfortunately i prepaid my reservation or i would have never stayed here i could tell i wasnt the first to complain about this type of accommodations the woman who walked us here couldn't have been and nastier about it and told me to take it up with expedia or hotels.com

do your homework

We have just arrived home from a break away in sorrento, positano and amalfi. We booked this hotel last minute as we were originally staying in agerolla which wasnt for us. We stayed in one of his apartments and were the 2nd couple to stay it was all brand new the location was perfect aswell. Christian also sorted our taxi back to the airport would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for our stay we will 100% be back

We were very surprised how bad our visit were, compared to other reviews before us!

We arrived in Amalfi as part of our honeymoon around Italy and couldn't wait to experience this beautiful coast. Yes the manager is sweet and helpful and yes the terrace is nice, but we were not able to enjoy all this, with no sleep. We stayed at the room facing the main street.

We knew the hotel were right in the main street but since it's a small town,(and listening to the other reviews) we didn't think it would be a problem. If you are a light sleeper, you will not be able to get much sleep, since there are cars and scooters going back and forth most of the night, along with people going home from a night out.
If you are a heavy sleeper you still won't be able to ignore the trash-van coming in every morning at circa 5.30am sounding like a huge truck and taking about half an hour to get it's job done.

At around 7am an even louder noise started and lasted about two hours - EVERY 2-3 minute. We never figured out where it came from, but it seriously sounded like someone redecorating their living room and moving heavy furnitures around all..the..time..!
I had earplugs but little did it help.

At the last day, we went for breakfast over an hour before it's suppose to end. We were the last ones there (probably because we hadn't sleep for 4 nights) and the lady who had been very nice the other mornings, were clearly eager to get us to sit and choose our food, so we did. But there wasn't more of the bread rolls, no more cheese or even the Philadelphia-type and we were left with the dry toast and some nutella. An hour before it's supposed to be finished!!

This was the worst booking we made on our trip and we felt so disappointed and unwelcome at Hotel Antica Repubblica. We could never recommend this to anyone dispite the cheaper rent. It's not worth it!!

Our room was delightful, overlooking the main street, with balcony. Christian is a first-rate host/manager, and I cannot imagine our stay being as great as it was without his professionalism, attention to detail, friendliness, and assistance regarding our activities and needs. We arrived on a late flight to Naples--Christopher arranged for our transportation, and added the costs to our hotel bill, so we had no negotiating to do at all. He also remained on the job late that day, to welcome us to the hotel. The rooftop breakfast is amazing, beautiful setting, and the location of the hotel in relation to the town is perfect, close-in, etc.

We stayed in this hotel 7 years ago and loved it, so wanted to stay again. The hotel was exactly as we remembered. The manager was helpful and kindly offered us a "better" room as we were returning for a second time, but we were keen to have the same room as last time and did not regret the choice. Both times we stayed in "Il Giudice", one of the rooms facing the back of the hotel; it's a very light airy room which opens out on to a small terrace and, because it doesn't open out onto the street, is relatively quiet. Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety. There is good wifi. The bed is extremely comfortable. We would happily stay again.
