I’ll start by saying that this is probably the strangest hotel that I’ve ever stayed in . It’s a 3 star that’s struggling to keep the third star . First of all the family who run it work very hard but i think that they are very much under staffed . Covid probably hit them hard and they may have had to cut back to keep going but I think that they need to focus on a few simple little things that could make the whole experience a bit better .
First one is breakfast which is of a very basic standard all done on the cheap . I’ve never seen tinned fruit salad on a breakfast buffet before . Scrambled eggs which were surprisingly good and fatty bacon everyday but tinned mushrooms? They had kidney beans instead of the mushrooms on our last day which is just as bad . Baked beans would have been miles better . At least you could have had beans on toast to make this bland breakfast more interesting.
The guy on breakfast duty was quite annoying , crashing about with a trolley scraping plates right next to you when anywhere else someone would have carried them round the corner behind the screen to clean up . He was that loud i couldn’t have a conversation with my wife because I couldn’t hear her. Decor of breakfast room was like something out of the 70’s.
When we arrived like other people have mentioned we were asked for passports and cash for tax , no hello’s etc . Lift was broken so we had to lug cases up the stairs .
Room was small and lacked any pictures which made it look really plain but it was cleaned regularly and towels and bedding were changed .
They serve beer in 3 sizes . ‘Ladies size ‘ which is between a pint and a half . One litre which you get in one of those German stein’s and the third size is a glass boot which I think holds two litres . The boot looks daft and It catches the new arrivals out because the first thing anyone who is used to drinking pints asks for is a large beer . You’ve just spent €20 on two litres of beer when you only wanted a pint .
The pool was decent but closed at 6pm . I think staying open an extra hour would have been better because if you had been on a trip you might want to cool down when you get back . The gardens round the pool need seeing too . Maybe that’s why there were so many people getting bitten off mosies.
Best thing about the place was the location . If you use your room key you can go up a side passage and through a door and you are on one of the streets that leads to the main square . I listened to one woman round pool moaning about the place and then she said that it was their third visit to the hotel and when I asked her why she keeps coming back she said that it was the location .
Would I go again , maybe .
Would I recommend to a friend ? No because I’m pretty laid back but some people aren’t so I wouldn’t want to put my name to it .
There’s a lot of potential in this place . Maybe they need Gordon Ramsey to turn up to show them how to make an interesting breakfast .

Quite a good hotel with a helpful, friendly staff and I stayed on a couple of days longer as my plans changed. However, overall I don´t think it provides good value for money as it is very expensive.

It is showing signs of its age and could do with a refurbishment, particularly in the swimming pool and playground area. There is only one tiny lift for a five-story building which was maddeningly slow at times as it had been cornered by the cleaning staff. My room was not cleaned until after 5 p.m. on the first day with the absurd explanation that the cleaning is done from bottom to top one day then top to bottom the next! There was no complimentary bottle of water in the fridge although maybe this did not matter as it was not plugged in and when it was it barely functioned. An ice cold Coke bought at a nearby supermarket became an undrinkable lukewarm Coke after a few hours in the fridge. Finally, the Wifi is only available in the reception area and not in the rooms - unacceptable in a hotel charging these rates.

Our family has just enjoyed a week long stay at the Eden hotel. The updated rooms were clean and comfortable, the location was superb- so close the the pretty centre of Sorrento but thanks to it’s unique position set back off the Main Street in it’s own large grounds and next to a lemon grove it is surprisingly quiet. We had rooms on the 4th floor which gave us outstanding panoramic views of the bay of Naples over to Vesuvius and the mountains on the Sorrento peninsula. The breakfast was plentiful and varied and this family run hotel felt friendly and relaxed thanks to Michael and his staff. The ‘secret’ passage way from the hotel to the Main Street was great to escape through from the bustle of the town into the well maintained gardens. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

I don’t even know where to start with this review, it’s taken me a while to get round to it due to being so wound up by the whole situation. holiday was booked through TUI costing over £700pp, so not cheap - room was advertised as having a French balcony, upon arrival we were taken to our room which turned out to be on the ground floor? The room itself was modern but when opening the curtains we were greeted with concrete walls & being overlooked by rooms above & all around, it was like a concrete prison (see pics)

We spoke to the receptionist & explained we had booked a room with a French balcony, they advised they would look into this but would take 24 hours, fast forward 24 hours & they show us the 'new room' this time extremely dated with a very large concrete balcony area, seemed like it was on top of the restaurant? this was to the left of the hotel & still not in the bit we wanted to be in & paid for!!

In the end we stayed in the original room with the prison outside space as we couldn’t deal with the lack of facilities in the alternative room that was offered, TUI were unhelpful & the hotel couldn’t get us in the right room, I wouldn’t be so annoyed hadn’t I paid so much

Also bring a travel iron, I made the silly mistake of not bringing one & the hotel wanted 3 euros for ONE item of clothing. If you can get a cheap deal & want a good location this is fine but anymore then that I wouldn’t bother

We stayed in the hotel for 9 days. We had one of the old room, the furniture was a bit dated but it was fine for us. We had a balcony which was nice and the bathroom was quite big too. The air con and fridge worked well. The room was cleaned everyday by cleaners and we got fresh towels and toilet paper top up.
We loved our stay, the staff is very friendly and location is perfect. Breakfast was lovely also with a lot of choices.
The only bad side is the pool area . We only used the pool 3 days while we stayed and every time it was empty but all the sun bed were taken.. The pool side is very small and while we stayed, a family of 5 would put their towels on sun beds around 9 am and not turn up to the pool til 5 pm.. we got so annoyed that we decided to go somewhere else for the rest of the week. Maybe the staff could be done about this like a 2 hour rule or something.
We would definitely recommend this hotel but a few thing could be changed to make the guest stay even better.

Just back from a 10 day stay at this traditional family run hotel. This hotel is situated in a fantastic location so close to Piazza Tasso in the centre of this beautiful Italian town. As other reviews have said it's set within its own oasis of beautiful gardens which seem to keep the hustle and bustle of noise out ... It's extremely peaceful and spent many days enjoying the pool. It is a perfect base from which to explore this stunning region. As the family run this hotel the service sometimes can be slow. Michael seems to work silly hours, being the porter, waiter, receptionist, barman, you name it he did it. This I think is part of this hotels problems , not enough staff. During lazy days around pool he would offer a drink which you would then wait a good 30 mins for ...not always, but more often than not. Another massive issue was the air conditioning, it was awful and did not work or was not set to a comfortable temperature, we did mention it twice, the response was it's because it's so hot outside, as they were In middle of a heatwave whilst we were there, not good enough I'm afraid. They didn't seem to care, by the time you showered and got changed to go out for dinner you were literally "dripping" and for me spoilt the whole chilling and getting ready experience .... . Now this may not sound like a big issue but believe me when night time temps were lot getting below 24 degrees it is. My last warning to any prospective visitors is to be warned the owners children and a couple of their friends came to use the pool around 3.30 and were SO loud and on one particular day caused complete carnage, jumping, splashing with no thought for the paying guests who were up to that point enjoying the peaceful surroundings . One day they completely cleared the area as everyone was flabbergasted by them. Again not good enough . It's a shame really as this hotel is so perfectly situated and authentically Italian which I loved, a fab base, perfectly clean, but would I stay here again, probably not.

Ideal walking location to sorrento square - and that’s it!
A very odd experience at this hotel, there is no family warm welcome at reception, and like others have mentioned they want your passport and cash for tax and that’s it, no personal touch or welcome.
We arrived in our room, which had 4 beds despite only being 2 of us. The decor is dated, and care needs to be taken on cleanliness. Door handles, fans, tiles needed a good scrub. It felt grubby. The bedsheets appeared cleaned but the thicker cover that was your duvet didn’t seem like it was ever changed. The bathroom needed a proper clean. The bin had a splash of brown marks which I don’t even want to know what it was.
I’m not sure if this was specific to our room but we could hear the water works going through the pipes all throughout the night, this was extremely loud and would wake you up. One morning we woke up to find a used cigarette on our balcony.
The breakfast was not fresh, the coffee was made with sweet longlife milk, the juice was watered down cordial. The pool again appeared it needed to be cleaned and made nicer, we didn’t go in as it did not look appealing.
This hotel ended up being a base to sleep, we spent most of our time out of the hotel.
We had a drink in the bar again the glasses were dirty.
It’s a shame as you want to support a family run business but they need to put more effort into cleanliness, comfort and customer service.

Firstly I'd like to give you the positives.
Hotel is in the perfect location for all amenities (main square, bars, restaurants and train station ect).
Hotel room was clean with no issues with fixtures and fittings, beds are very comfortable, fresh towels every day and plenty of hangers. Decent size bathroom with an adequate shower.
Bad points.
On arrival we was approached by staff, and was insisted to be shown to our room which then was expected to tip. We unfortunately did not have any change at this time but he (staff) said we could give him a larger tip later on. We then popped back down for refreshments which we got asked "do you want a large beer"? (Expecting a pint) Little did we know the "large" beer was a bloody boot with 4-5 pints in it which we did not expect. Throughout the week we knew exactly who the newbies to the hotel was because this happened EVERY time. We then ordered pizza to share which came out like a frozen 99p asda pizza. We was only there half an hour and already spent 43 euros on things we didn't really want.
Pool was fine but pool area needs upgrading as the foam squares are very unstable and dangerous if tripped on. Your not allowed to take any drinks around the pool unless you buy from hotel, I understand this but water wouldn't hurt.
Overall this is a good base and I would recommend, they just need to be a little more trust worthy and friendly and not take advantage of guests.
P.S take your own kettle, you are expected to buy from hotel if you want a cuppa.

Just back from Two weeks in Hotel Eden a 3 star.
On arrival reception was efficient which was welcome as we just wanted to get to our room and freshen up.
The local Tourist Tax we had allready been warned about so it was expected, we have allways had to pay for a safe key so that was no surprise and we got our passports straight back. As check in was a little after we arrived we were asked if we would like a drink whilst we waited. TIP. go for a small beer (0.4 litre, less than a pint, medium and large are not what you want after a journey).
The staff were all friendly and helpfull one off the first things we were told was about the back exit which accessed the shopping street and Tasso Square (access to these streets via the front door took about 3 Mins).
We did not use the pool area but did check it out, it was clean and tidy and as advertised. The garden area we used every day (when it did not rain) it was a little overgrown but it was pleasent sitting there. We encountered no Mosquitoes but the flies were quite viscious in Sorrento and we got a few bites but not just in the garden. As for the noise. This is a city centre hotel with a busy road at the bottom of the drive, there is noise from busses, emergency vehicles and scooters, the noise from the renovations next door was not excessive and could be barely heard in our room. In all this was a quieter location than our home in a busy town.
Our Room was basic, clean and kept that way, what more was wanted? it was for storing our clothes and sleeping in, only fault was that the bed was remade after I had already made it.
The breakfast was of a type to accommodate guests from all over the continent, many nationalities were there over the time we stayed. While it may not have appealed to some Brits. a lot of them were really tucking in, to the extent that sometimes we had to wait for refills on the buffet. I was really happy with the breakfast room attendent as he kept the place clean so that there was allways a table available. If you arrived just before 10.00 a.m. (end of Breakfast) choice was a bit limited but a meal was available.
Having been to Sorrento a couple of times we were running out of things to do and it is unlikely we would return. If we were to return I would happily return to Eden

As others have mentioned the best thing about this hotel is its location being near the centre. The room was well air conditioned and the bed was comfortable. Cleaning was satisfactory with changes of towels when requested.
My main problem with the hotel was the very poor breakfasts. The scrambled eggs were lumpy and never hot, the mushrooms were tinned and had been boiled, bread was soft rolls, cheese was plastic and tasteless and there was never any fresh fruit. Occasionally there was some tinned fruit and there was always some geriatric oranges which I never saw anyone eating. I also asked about decaffeinated coffee and was told they didn’t have any. My wife and I bought decaffeinated coffee along with supermarket cheeses and salmon but in the end we stopped going to breakfast and ate out. I spoke to our Jet2 rep about this and she agreed that the breakfast was well below standard.
Our rep must have mentioned our complaints to Luigi as we were greeted with a serious valedictory snarl from him on handing in our room key on the last day.
