Dolcevita B&B is the perfect location for a hassle free holiday. Situated on a vibrant street in Sorrento but not noisy at night. Everything is near, bus, train station and the marina. Host is very very friendly and helpful He goes out of his way to make everything go smoothly. Easy to visit Pompei, Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Capri. Our room was always clean with change of daily linen. Cant name anything which was negative. All was perfect and definitely recommend this guesthouse. Thanks Ettore for the amazing holiday in Sorrento.

Located in the centre of Sorrento, through an old unassuming street door is a very nice and quiet B&B.
I say B&B but it is only a very clean and very well furnished room.

But to be fair to Ettore I reread his website and it does say that breakfast is available at a reduced cost at a little café around the corner which was very good.
So my fault for not reading it properly before I booked it, and my Wife let me know that too !!! :-)

I cannot fault the room at all, as I said very clean and modern, TV, fridge, good shower, plenty of hot water.

One thing I would say is there was not any tea or coffee facilities in the room but there again it is available as you come in to the lobby where Ettore has his office.

Ettore could not have been more helpful with local advise, and was happy to suggest many places to eat.
Stepping out from the street door in to the Sorrento evening is how I imagine it would have been many years ago, it is not tacky in any way.

The shops are open at night and there is a real buzz.
Wander down and have an Ice cream, which there are many many flavors to choose from.

I visited Sorrento in the 1980's and it still has the same feel.
They say that angels look after fools and drunks, well that may be so but I can honestly say it is the safest and most relaxing place that I have ever visited.

Ok here are the musts, Capri, get an early boat, come back late, go for a swim there, magic.
A warning, if you want to go to the Blue Grotto on Capri be aware of this.
A charge to go from Capri to the grotto, a charge to get in to the grotto via rowing boat, and then the man rowing you would like a "suggested tip of 20 Euro's"

Worth it ? well that is up to you, I did not want my Wife to miss it but she was not that impressed,
just letting you know because they don't tell you this !!!

Go to Anna Capri by bus, I cannot describe the view so will not attempt it.
Enjoy the bus ride back down for the best view sit on the left of the bus :-)

A must is the Amalfi Drive, take a tour or the local bus, the local busses are crowded though,
there again an early start late back.
We got to Amalfi and just enjoyed a cold beer watching the locals, heaven :-)

Pompeii, a must there again take as much time there as you can.
Big tip, buy a packed lunch to take with you, so much cheaper and you know what you are getting !
There are lots of local shops outside the B&B that have a deli counter in the back, just ask them and it will be made up while you wait.

Have a wander down to the harbour and have a seafood meal ............................................................................ sorry just shut my eyes and I was there :-)

What can I say, nice people, excellent food, stunning scenery, you would be hard pushed to find a more central location to than B&B Dolcevita Sorrento.

Thank you Ettore :-)

My partner and I stayed in this B&B for four nights while visiting Sorrento. It was a little confusing when you enter the building because there is no Dolcevita sign on the door after you climb the stairs. There is a sign outside on the street though! When you arrive, climb to the second floor and head towards the door on the left side of the building, not the right. We saw a few other guests in the same confusion as us so we had to point them the right way! If you knock and no one is there, just call the owner and he will be there in a couple of minutes. He is usually there very regularly, and he told us that he is always there from 5pm-9pm, which is great. He told us we can call him anytime after 10am if we have any other problems.

When we arrived, he stayed with us for 45 minutes or so chatting about the region and telling us the best way to get to places, etc. It was fantastic!! He is so proud of his region, and rightly so, for the produce and the sights are indeed spectacular (even in the rain!). The room we had was fantastic. It had a lovely little balcony, a very large room and a very functional and clean bathroom. Everything was super clean! The room looked out onto a pedestrian only street which was always quiet at nighttime.

There was some renovation work going on in the apartment below ours. The owner said he has an agreement with the workers to only start work after 10am and it finishes up about 5pm. Unfortunately though, every morning we were there after 8am (3/4 mornings), the construction work and hammering began. So it started at 8am. We told the owner the first morning and he apparently called them but it continued. So don't expect to sleep in! It wasn't really a problem because we were up and ready to explore by 8am but it may be an issue with others.

Otherwise, a fantastic experience!

TL/DR: There’s nothing good about this accomodation except the location. And even that wouldn’t bring it to 1 star. Not recommend

We had booked a room overlooking the street but instead got a dark dingy smelly room at the back. He tried to sell it as he did me a favour downgrading the room

Bed was rock hard, so sleeping was impossible. You can hear every sound from the corridor and neighbours and around 8:15am there’s the weirdest bell that goes off. No chance to sleep in.

The hair dryer in the bathroom was the most useless I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Completely pointless having it at all.

There is a small kettle but only cheap green tea was available to drink.

The so-called safe is a small lockable, portable tin. A joke.

The person greeting us was the most patronising person I’ve met; he gave us a 20min lecture, instructions in how to use a key, made me repeat which key was which and demonstrate to him I knew how to use a key, told I weren’t allowed to eat anything in when in the room, being told to not slam the door, not to use WhatsApp we had chatted on earlier to communicate with the owner - he’s too important.

When the cleaner had been they left the balcony door wide open. Not safe for our things at all.

The room smelled bad, stale and musty. The bathroom was even worse.

On the plus side, the location is excellent.

I don't usually write reviews but there is only one review for the apartment that was written too late for us to use, and I know it would have helped me to have more information in order to make a decision. The apartment itself is spacious and newly renovated. (As some reviewers have noted the entry to the building is a bit "sketchy" but we got over that pretty quickly.) Furnishings are basic but adequate -no luxury bedding or furnishings. The apartment was very clean and cleaned daily. For the price, it's OK. Here are a few things to be aware of:
1. The apartment is on the busiest tourist street in the town, which generates a lot of noise at night. Since the bedroom is on the street side, it can be hard to sleep if noise bothers you.The weekends are the noisiest, but all four nights we stayed had an element of noise "surprise", including trash trucks, merchants opening up street shops at 6 am, scooters in early morning, etc.
2. We had only enough hot water for one shower the first morning. Apparently, the hot water has to be adjusted for the number of people. The owner took care of it later that morning, but it was not a good way to start Day 1.
3. The owner/manager is very helpful with suggestions, as others have said, but he is only on site in the evenings from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm, and for emergencies only during the rest of the day.
4. Towels need to be upgraded. We were told we could turn in a towel and get another during the 6:30-9:30 pm time if we weren't happy with what we had. Some are threadbare and stained.
5. Bring your own amenities. Hand soap is available but that's it.
All in all, if you're looking for space, and don't mind the noise and other things mentioned above, go for it. We ended up making the best of it, but would probably look for a quieter location if we ever return to Sorrento.

My friend and I stayed 3 nights at Dolce Vita in mid October. Since I first booked in Feb this year, the owner, Ettore, was extremely prompt in replying to all the queries I had. When our train was delayed for several hours on the day of arrival, Ettore was extremely kind in waiting for us till rather late and assuring that it was OK. The B & B was conveniently located on a street that is lined with beautiful shops and restaurants and within-walking distance to the harbour (to catch the fast ferry to Capri), the Circumvesuvianna train station (to Pompeii, Herculaneum, etc), the bus station to the Almafi Coast and the laudromats. Our room was fantastic, spacious, clean and very reasonably priced (only 60 Euro per night, compared to the 110 to 126 Euros for our accommodation in Rome, Venice and Florence); the bathroom was large by our standards. Our room faced the colourful street, making us feel that we were really on a holiday; strangely, though the street was busy, the room was very quiet once we shut the the double-glazed sound-proof windows. It would be nice to have kettle or cups in the room so that we could make coffee; however, it was not a real problem since we could buy fantastic coffee and pastries just downstairs in the Cafe (for less than 2 euros). What made our stay memorable was Ettore, the perfect and friendly host who was was attentive and patient; though he does not live in the B & B, he seemed to be always around to ensure that his hosts' needs were promptly attended to. My friend and I agreed that of all the destinations we visited in Italy, Sorrento came up tops due to a large part to Ettore's helpfulness and his fantastic B & B. We will definitely stay at this place when we visit Sorrento again! (By the way, if you want a free-&-easy 2-week itinerary covering Rome, Sorrento, Florence, Venice and Milan, I would be most happy to share it with you --- about what to do, where to dine, where to day, how to move about and what passes to get). Ciao! Chris

We really have enjoyed our two nights at DolceVita! It is located on a quaint narrow old street, buzzing with activity during the day, but quite at night! The host and hostess were very accommodating in helping us get settled and orientated. Sorrento is very clean, friendly, and inviting. We enjoyed a great seafood dinner the first night, and a fabulous tour of the Amalfi coast the next day! Would have stayed longer!

'Dolce Vita' .. an Italian holiday worth every penny. This B&B is a jewel if you want to experience the vibrancy of Sorrento. Don't stay here and complain about noise .. our wonderful apartment for seven nights was situated at the front of the building right in the heart of the bustling tourist area and you can sit on the little terraces and watch and listen to all the folks passing through, listen to the traders opening up in the morning and closing down in the evening, but when it's your turn to join them everything if available to you. Our apartment was large and spotlessly clean .. the bed was comfortable and the shower great. We only used the fridge in the kitchen as I absolutely refuse to cook when on holiday. The huge wooden shutters muffled the street sounds if you needed an early night and the air conditioning worked a treat. The owner, Ettore, is a character (thank you for our surprise bottle of bubbly!) and Rosa, who looks after the guests, is simply fabulous .. she was on hand every afternoon to give advice and was always interested to hear about our adventures .. we felt very welcomed. Breakfast isn't included but you can get a lovely cappuccino and a croissant at Bar Daniele for a bargain two euros less than a minutes walk away. We soon switched to enjoy our morning cappuccino at Monnalisa - just a few steps away from the front door - their idea of little 'extras' is a sheer delight .. and you must visit William and Maria at Antica Gelateria further down and sit on the 'terrace' for a cold beer and the best gelato .. William promises it doesn't make you fat! His family restaurant next door, Fuoro, was a favourite of ours. Buy the naughtiest biscuits and sweets at Nino's, right opposite Dolce Vita .. the staff generously and enthusiastically hand out samples all day. Seek out the Christmas shop .. so funny .. .. you'll be humming Christmas tunes all day long! They have divine Sorrento baubles and decorations so you can relive your holiday when it's time to nibble on a mince pie. For seafood lovers be sure to walk down to Marina Grande, a little fishing harbour, and eat at Portamarina .. you will be in for a treat. Book all your boat trips from here .. they are in small local boats rather than the larger somewhat crowded vessels used by the various travel agencies ..definitely avoid using the big ferries from the main port .. herding at its ultimate and not our favourite memory. Dolce Vita .. 'a life of heedless pleasure and luxury' .. yes please .. what's not to like!

Small bedroom, beds not comfortable, no breakfast, no space to unpack, no space in the bathroom, no soap or shampoo in the shower, terrible view from the back balcony, towels not clean with stain, dirty under the bed. Unfortunately, after a tour of Italy where we stayed in beautiful BB and hotels with great breakfasts, this is the worst BB we stayed at. If we go back to Sorrento, we would never stay there again.

Great location, right in the centre of town. Nice owner. Room quite based on where it is. However this is not a bed and breakfast. No breakfast we had to go to a restaurant on the next street to have coffee and croissant, we paid to the owner of the B B.
and the restaurant was closed on our last day. No space to unpack two adults suitcases, shower very small, bathroom too small to leave any of our toiletries, no safe to leave passports or wallets, and worst of all we were asked to pay cash upon arrival because he had a problem with credit card charges. Towels were changed every day but very old towels. The room was clean but under the bed was very dirty and the bed was not comfortable. Good spot but perfect for young people traveling with pack sacks.
