It seems I have more than one account on Tripadvisor - not sure how that happened, or how to merge them. ANYWAY! il Nido is at the top of the list of my favorite places to stay in Italy. Gianni, Dino and the whole family have made 'comfort' a whole new category for travel. They know how to make the best of a great location. The rooms are comfortable, clean and everything you want them to be. The restaurant is, in my opinion and I don't think I'm alone here, is among the best in Sorrento. It certainly has the best view! From your balcony seat, you can watch the diamond necklace glow around the Bay of Naples. The occasional fireworks in the distance simply add to the fun. Combine that with a menu that only brings the best to your table! Oh my! No wonder I've returned every year for what has to be 12 years now! Except this year. I hope and pray that you are all safe and healthy. Please save my favorite room, I'll be back next year. Please keep the orange juice machine well stocked at breakfast. Please know that you matter!…
Sorrento is probably, no definitely, at the top of my favorite places in Italy. The hotel il Nido rates even higher. I love meandering around the streets and parks in the city. The sunsets are really watching Apollo ride across the sky in his chariot. When he descends into the water, it seems to boil. I've been there when people actually applauded! But then I head back up to il Nido for dinner on the balcony. It's hard to tell which is best: the food or the view. Gotta be both - and that doesn't diminish either one! As darkness falls, the Bay of Naples is marked by a necklace of diamonds. The fireworks from various areas add to the magic and the fun. In the best of Italian traditions, the table is yours until you leave. What a wonderful place to review the day, to plan tomorrow, to simply enjoy 'being' here. My friends hear me say this often: I deserve this! I honestly don't know what I've ever done in my life to deserve these dozen or so years at il Nido. Keep my same room ready! Keep the orange juice machine well stocked! Keep Gianni, Dino and the whole family safe and healthy!…
We stayed at IL Nido Hotel in October 2019. We can not recommend this hotel more highly. We were a family of 10 that stayed there and Dino and his team were so accommodating and hospitable. Nothing was too hard, we had drinks on the balcony and just admired the view. The rooms are very spacious, clean and tidy. The food at the restaurant was delicious and well priced. There is also a complimentary bus that stops right in front of the hotel and drops you right in the heart of town maybe a 10 min max drive. Dino and his family are always there to help and provide good advise. PLEASEEEEE try their Lemonchello made in house yum!!!! Thanks
I have stayed at this lovely little family owned hotel twice now. The owners are so friendly and helpful I just love staying here! It has a lovely view of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius from the restaurant and from our room balcony. The property is spotless and quiet. The room decor is not fancy but very clean and comfortable. At this price point, who cares? I forgot from my last stay that the towels are thin and not what Americans are used to, but they work just fine. Love the breakfast. There is a lovely selection of the usual Italian meats and cheese, fruit, pastries to die for, etc. I like that there is a clothes line off the balcony for hand washed items if guests need that. This area high on the mountain is peaceful and lovely. The free shuttle bus for guests takes you to and from town several times a day, according to schedule. The SITA bus stop is a few meters up the hill if you are going to Positano and other points down the coast. The hotel sells tickets at the front desk and has copies of the schedules. Be mindful that the bus may already be crowded when it gets to I’ll Nido so plan to possibly have to stand. If that is not your thing you may want to travel into Sorrento first and hop the same bus there at the train station. If it is off season you probably don’t have an issue with that. We ate at the restaurant once and had wine and dessert there another night. The food was pretty good, but the lemon delizia dessert here was truly amazing! The friendly service and beautiful views make it worth a quiet evening in. I hope I get to return and if I do, we will probably make this our home base for the whole trip!…
We stayed in Il nido for 4 nights and we loved it the room was so clean ,bed was comfortable and the view is breathtaking. breakfast was really nice with different varieties and the staff is very helpful.
