A return visit here in September proved a wise choice, as Capri seems to get more and more crowded with the hordes of cruise ship tourists from Sorrento, and the residents of Naples who come to take photos and eat gelato.
However, once they leave,...More
Everything has already been said about Le Minerva in the glowing reviews and they are not exaggerated. This is just a beautiful, stylish and special smaller hotel. What makes it a cut above is the attention to detail provided by Luigi, proprietor of Le Minerva...More
We loved this hotel. Its quiet sophistication and incredible views made it the perfect spot for us. The managers at the desk were so helpful whenever we had a question and recommended a lovely spot for dinner.

I agree with Brian M. that day trips are a hassle. Best to spend 4 nights in one spot, as each town offers lovely hikes and views. I have been to Capri 10+ times, most recently for a full week. There is plenty to do there, if you like to walk. Positano is fun for no more than 2 days. I love Calabria: Monopoli, Lecce, Alberobello. Unlike the Amalfi Coast, Calabria is a region in which you can stay at one place and make day trips as long as you have a car. The drive from Naples is about 2 hours and easy, and the Bari airport is a good hub.
