We stayed at Guiren hotel from 29th of September till 3rd of October 2012.
We had booked Hotel de Ville for this period but because there had problems we electricity at the time, they accommodated us to Guiren, a hotel that is part of the same chain.
The hotel was located near the Stazione Centrale, an dubious area but in spite of this appearance nobody bothered us, not even late at night.
Staff here was very polite and friendly. Our room, 128, was OK: clean, with a decent bath and furniture. However, the bad squeaked terribly, to the point that we woke up during the night because of the sound. The lightening was very poor, not to bright. At first, we had problems in making the TV work on other channels than RAI 1 and anyway, there were only Italian channels (no Euronews for instance). We also needed support to make the air conditioning work as there was not an appropriate remote control and we had to turn it on/off manually by climbing the bed.
The breakfast was served as buffet and only the drink and one delicious croissant was brought by the waiter. We could choose from a rather poor variety of items: boiled eggs, one type of cheese and cold meat, yoghourt, 2 types of cereals, juice, honey, jam, butter, fresh fruits, pie and 2 or 3 types of bread.

We spent 3 night in the hotel, the room itself (no. 138) was ok, but not very clean and there were marks on the walls, furniture and there was a lingering smell since seemingly you can smoke anywhere in the hotel. The fridge did not work (and they gave us some rubbish excuse for it). The bed is nice and big, the windows keep the noise and the light out quite well, but the wifi (as others mentioned it too) only works in the communal area (which is a sofa and a vending machine).

Breakfast was poor, very limited choice and not much else. Coffee ok, items were fresh but not very inspiring start to a day, not something worth getting up for early...

The streets aroung the hotel are very dodgy, lots of illegal african street sellers who sell you fake everything and because the central station is near you get all sorts of beggars and other people bothering you for something. Not safe at all.

Our biggest problem was that when we left we checked out and left the luggage behind the reception as our flight was in the evening thinking it would be safe there. Turned out if wasn't, because when we reached the airport later, our passports were missing from a bag. I know we should not have left the documents in there, but who would think it goes missing from a hotel reception. We will never know who took them, as lot of people go in and out of the hotel, even the receptionist can sell them easily... Because of this we had to stay another night in Naples in another hotel as we could not leave the country, go to Rome to get a temporary passport from the embassy and all this came at a massive cost.

My advice: if you decide to stay here, do not trust anyone!!
If you can, just avoid the whole central station area at all, there are much nicer places at equally cheap prices, like around Via Toledo.

We booked our trip as a package through british airways, assuming there hotel choice would be good. I knew the hotel would be basic, based on the price paid, I dont mind basic, but do mind no hot water for three days, and a very poor, limited breakfast. The staff at the hotel were very nice, and the bed was ok. The real problem here is the location, its not just dirty ans seedy but bloody dangerous, i felt safer in Moscow. please be careful in this part of town even if you are in a group, you may come unstuck. I have been to most european cities and Naples is the worst by far.

Just returned from a 5 night break at this hotel. The hotel is somewhat dated, however you dont have a city break to sit in your room.
The room was extremely clean (all bedding and towels changed each day), the staff were lovely, in particular the guy on reception during the day, he provided us with a map and showed us the best way to get around etc which was invaluable info. The young lady that provided breakfast was also very friendly and helpful. I also managed to lock myself in the bathroom and the reception staff came up right away and assisted!
The hotel is also near the train station which is great for day trips to places as well as using the metro to get around the city.

The staff really make this hotel, its also in a good location for transport links.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights checking out 9th july. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is adequate. The area is not good, filthy with rubbish on the streets and a little intimidating with the many street sellers. However providing you watch your wallets and handbags and get your head around the atmosphere of this city you will start to enjoy the colour, vibrancy and energy of Naples which is an adventure in itself. Oh and be careful on the roads. Traffic is er well, let's just say there are no rules. The vehicle is king and the mentality is get in the vehicle or on the moped and don't stop till you get where you are going even if it means squashing a few tourists! Mopeds often have the whole family on board with dad and bambino at the front, mum and dog, yes dog' in the middle! A real adventure naples is and don't think you are safe on the pavements, mopeds even mount the pavements to get to where they are going! Enjoy this fun city if you are going and enjoy a chat with the Neapolitans who we found to be very friendly.

We were not expecting a great deal from this hotel, partly because of the price and partly because of some of the negative reviews on this site. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is small but they try really hard. The breakfast choice is limited but the food is fresh and of good quality. The coffee was the best I have ever had in any hotel!

The location was perfect for us; so close to the station for getting out to Pompei and Versuvius, with a small supermarket around the corner for buying picnic lunches and an unpretentious family-run restaurant just on the next street for when we did not want to walk into the old town for supper. Yes, there was street noise but what do you expect when you are right in the middle of a busy city? The area is also quite run down and there is rubbish on the street, but everyone was pleasant and the African population in particular were helpful and spoke good English.

If you are comfortable in big multi-cultural cities, this is a great place to stay. Excellent value and perfectly placed for exploring the area.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time in Naples - the hotel is an ideal base to see the city and surrounding areas. Guys at reception (especially Joseph) were very helpful and knowledgeable, they made us feel welcome and also
*advised on places to see - a little known places included,
*gave insight into Naples culture - very helpful, many thanks!
Hotel was good, breakfast very good, room & bathroom cleaned daily.
The hotel is in a typical "city station" area -vibrant and full of people. We were careful in the station & trains so nothing bad happened to us. I'd recommend it if you're on a budget!

I think my title sums up the review for the hotel. Most horrible hotel I have ever stayed in my life.Infact, after arriving on 16Oct 2017 at Naples,it was a nightmare.
Homeless people all over the streets in and around the train station.Dirt, filth scattered all around. You feel totally unsafe. The hotel is located in the most notorious locality.Naples was a nightmare. The hotel another nightmare.
Naples a nightmare since I went from Rome and after a beautiful experience,I was expecting more wonderful experience and after seeing Naples, was shocked.Infact,I rate Mumbai 200 times more better and cleaner than Naples.I think that sums up it all.
The only good point is that it is near the train station.
The person at the from desk was very nice, polite and helpful. He guided me since I wanted to leave for Capri immediately upon my arrival.Thank god I was only in Naples for 12 hours or else I would have died.Good that i didn't even have breakfast.Horrible room.Horrible washroom Internet or wi-fi not working. No electric point anywhere in my room no.220.
Folks, beware and stay at your own risk since no lift and it was a hell for me to take my bags up to my second floor room.
The hotel is so outdated that I cannot even explain to you.

I want to preface this review with the fact that I did not actually stay at the hotel. A couple weeks ago I was desperate for a hotel room since the hotel I had booked gave my room away. As I wandered the streets of Naples at night, a female traveling alone with a suitcase in an area not exactly known to be safe, a kind woman approached me and offered me help in finding where I was going. She was the owner of Hotel Guiren. She was all booked that night (as was almost the whole city it seemed), but I walked to her lobby and the man at the front desk was kind enough to call hotels in the area, trying to help me find a hotel. After getting turned down many times, he kept going and eventually succeeded. And another employee at Hotel Guiren was nice enough to walk me over to the other hotel, which was so appreciated as it was almost midnight at this point. I've honestly never been so scared when traveling and I have no idea what I would have done without their help. So, despite my not staying there, I just want to point out to everyone how kind their staff was to me. Customer service at it's finest, even when they had nothing to gain.
