Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent Hotel for stay in Naples. We stayed for 2 nights, and we had a little problem with our bathroom and even when they fixed it really quickly and efficiently, the hotel gave us and upgrade when we came back the following week. Highly Recommended!!

Good size room and comfortable bed, room service on request. Toiletries are now in single use sachets which we were not keen on. Also only 2 sachets of basic Nescafe and no milk - a bit poor for coffee offering in Italy! Views from the 7th floor are good - watched cruise ships coming and going and could see the town, marina & Vesuvius Hotel staff were very pleasant on reception and in the bar/restaurant. Breakfast had a good choice and food was very tasty. Much smaller choice for dinner although food was ok. Happy to store luggage on our last day so we could go out before evening flight Good location for transportation as on main Marina road. The area is not great (I would say this hotel is the nicest building around there) but sadly Naples in many parts is now quite run down and neglected. There are still some wonderful things to see, especially churches, but the litter and graffiti is awful, so be prepared. Also watch the traffic - the driving is shocking!

A hotel in prime position to the harbour and cruise ships. Immaculate rooms, really comfy beds and air conditioning. The breakfast buffet was simply awesome, top tip, fill your boots so you’ve got loads of energy to walk into Naples central. Area is a bit scruffy, but don’t be too put off. Watch the cars when crossing roads, the driving is appalling. There’s a quiet rooftop retreat that is worth a visit in the hotel. Sun beds and smoking area if you partake. The views are amazing from there.

We had a lovely four nights at the Salgar. Its position is great, an easyish walk to most of the attractions of central Naples. Being close to the port it is about as easy to get to by car as possible in Naples, plus it is close to the ferrys. The hotel is well appointed with nice modern rooms with nice beds and most of the things you need. With the odd exception of a slightly dodgy bathroom with cheap, sometimes broken tiles. The staff are fantastic, very responsive, usually with a smile and willing to help. In particular the barman Diago looked after us after a tough day walking around Naples despite juggling a large extended group of children and parents. Bathroom aside - I still scored a 5 because we enjoyed our stay so much. A definite recommend. We also found drinks and food were very reasonably priced with a great breakfast as part of our package.

I stayed here for two nights. I chose it because the day tour I booked would pick me up in the lobby. Although the room was small, it was comfortable and relatively quiet. I encountered a problem with the shower. The 'on' was tricky--you had to pull up and then turn (I had to ask at the front desk). Since I was alone, there were enough towels (one per person seems standard in Italy). One aspect that was wonderful: the free breakfast. Not only did it offer many options, it had a barista to make espresso and cappuccino (with the lovely design in the foam)--wow! (Found this in no other hotel during my two week trip.)

Nice, clean and comfortable hotel down near the port area, 3 min walk from Duomo metro stop. We just had a basic double room, but it was pretty spacious and well appointed. The bed in particular was great - very large and super comfy. Breakfast was also very good, some really nice produce both sweet and savoury. Definitely recommended!

Nice hotel near the port, great room and very nice terrace on the 7th floor. The people on front desk en reservations are very professional and helpfull. Breakfast was good, but coffee out of a machine for a 4 star hotel? (Especially in Naples!). After a very busy day we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Very sorry to say that standards for dinner a not very high at all. That said, we would come back to stay at the hotel.

Very clean, very comfortable place to stay. I had seen reviews of other hotels in Naples complaining about the location and the ascetics. The Salgar is in a quieter part but still very close to the main shopping and restaurants, and close to the central station. Staff were very helpful and polite and helped with where to go on arrival.
