This hotel is great! The staff are brilliant, really helpful and for those visiting from elsewhere they all speak great English. Of special note, there is a barman there who is awesome. Including mixing his own signature cocktails and for New Year making a prosecco cream, it was really special! The hotel is always really clean and our room was...

The staff and accommodations as well as the location were outstanding. There is also a chapel and amazing rooftop terrace which is the best kept secret in Rome. The breakfast and luxury special touches were wonderful!

Visited for the England's game against Italy in the 6 Nations. This is a beautiful hotel in a great area. Across the river from the main central area there are plenty of cool bars and restaurants a short walk from the hotel but everything is accessible on foot. Recommended.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. Location was perfect as we wanted to be around restaurants etc. Lady at reception unhelpful and rude. Wifi barely worked. Rooms were always clean but outdated (but what can you expect when you are staying in 16th century monastery). All in all, this hotel is great for location and the rooms are fine. They...

This hotel was an old convent and a small, nice chapel is still inside of the hotel. As far as I know nuns are still running the place. They have beautiful and bigger rooms in the lower floors, but also smaller rooms in the upper floors. Terrace is amazing! Continental Breakfast is good and people at the Bar are nice

My daughter and I visited Italy over Thanksgiving and while we had great experiences with hotels at all our stops, Donna Camilla Savelli was our absolute favorite. The hotel is beautiful and historic, yet is reasonably priced and very conveniently located in the Trastevere neighborhood which is teeming with great restaurants and shopping. The staff was helpful, the room was...

I had a most wonderful stay at Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel for 7 days from late November to early December. I was in Rome for work, and my schedule was very busy and this hotel was my haven! The staff were wonderful - organized, helpful, efficient (particular thanks to Christina for her assistance, and to James for making me laugh...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with a work trip. It is a very charming, historic hotel in a fantastic location in Trastevere. The rooms were nice, and the hotel grounds were well kept. It was hard to believe this hotel was in the middle of a bustling area. The location made it very easy to walk...

My wife and I visited this hotel in November; it wasn't too crowded (considering it was towards the end of the tourist season). Hotel staff : for the most part were really nice. Room was nice but they do switch off the central air in Nov, so we had to keep the window open and sleep. They don't have a...

This hotel is in a former convent from the 1600s. It's charming, comfortable and reasonably priced. The Trastevere location adds to the charm - it's away from the masses, but an easy walk to most places. Our room had a terrace that gave a nice view of the city's rooftops.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
