First of all, this is not a hotel with a front door and a sign outside and a reception desk at street level. It is a set of rooms in an apartment building on the 2nd and 3rd floors with no sign on the doors to these rooms. When I arrived by taxi from the airport, the intercom wasn't working...

Rooms in a building, not a hotel. You will check in a room and move to another room the next day when I asked why the rude owner MOSTAFA said its their policy and "I should obey otherwise I won't be his guest" that's what he said. The receptionist is a non English speaker, stinky like hell. You have to...

This apartment hotel is really good value for the money it cost to stay there. It is nice and clean, good and friendly service, and the location is perfect- just around the corner from the Colusseum. Breakfast is included in the price albeit we never ate it as it was pretty boring... but again, for the price of the room...

For value for money and location this place is good, however it lacks in a few areas... 1. It is not hotel, more of a rent a room in an apartment. 2. Breakfast was ok, this includes a hot drink, biscuits, croissant, cereal however no bowl for cereal provided, fruit and some bread with 'burger type' cheese. One saving grace...

I was really upset with our stay at Al Centro Storico. First, it was difficult to find once we got to the address. You have to enter a courtyard and go up to the 4th floor. There is no sign indicating where to go. When we got there, it seemed the host wasn't sure where to put us. With only...

This is a great find, Appel the concierge waits out the front of the building and escorts you in if you phone ahead of your arrival. The security is fantastic as there are 3 doors to go through. The lift is cute and a real novelty because it only fits 2 people inside. The rooms are large and clean and...

The hotel wasn't that great on the whole but the hospitality of the guy managing it made up for it.. The hotel is situated in the best of the areas- next to a bus stop and a tram stop. 2 metro stations within 5 mins of walking, one of them being 'termini', the centre of time, which is connected to...

This is NOT a hotel...more of a guest house really. Several rooms in an apartment complex on the Via Merculana. The rooms were small but serviceable and clean. There was no hot water for my morning shower but there was the night before for my wife's. The location is decent: a brisk walk from the main train station, a light...

Best described as...interesting. First off, I have to say it's a very good location, and very good value for money. I'd probably return, knowing what I know now. We had the 3 person room (there were 3 of us!). Having read the issues of finding this 'hotel', I emailed the owner with a Google Streetview screenshot to confirm the location....

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
