It was nearly a year ago that I stayed there but I'm still recovering from the trauma! David the absentee landlord turns up to take your money (then disappears into the sunset, possibly to sell snake-oil), leaving you in the inconsistent and grumpy service of two Thai workers. The fun just begins with the 'we are not a hotel' type...

It is a plain, and small, apartment, on the fourth floor (with no elevator), of a old building. The staff is a pair of workers who live in apartment itself. We booked two rooms, but at the first night ther was only one room waiting for us. Our room was noisy, as well as not very clean. Ther was always...

1. Very dirty rooms. In a bathroom is mould and a smell! 2. B&B is located on noisy street. It is impossible to sleep ! 3. It is possible to tell that the breakfast isn't present. A bakery in a plastic sack and in a plastic cup some coffee. For this money in Florence we had a huge choice of...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
