This hotel always feels like coming home.
My first visit was back in 1996 when my airline used this as a crew hotel.
I wasn’t able to come back on a private trip until years after that but these past years we have tried to make it an annual happening.
Everything here runs smooth and seamless. However there are a few things I would like to put my finger at:
-water. It seems like a scarcity at the hotel (and of course it’s not). You are given two tiny bottles every day, one carbonated and one not. I mean, this is a five star hotel. Give us enough water. Put one at each night stand at turn-down service. Don’t be stingy with the water. It lowers the feeling of luxury.

-prices for soft drinks/water by the pool. 330 ml cans of water is all they have and they are 4 euros while a glass (filled up with so much ice that it is probably only 100 ml coke in it) costs a whopping 8 euros.

-groups. Beware that the hotel is widely used for conferences of all sorts. Usually that means it’s filled up with Americans. In itself that’s not bad as most Americans are polite and sweet but a few can also be very loud and “entitled”.
Like two young champagne drinking girls in desperate need for attention decided to do their tik-tok dance in between the pool bar and the bar in the skimpiest bikinis and no one took action to tell them no even it was very inappropriate at this kind of establishment and many guests reacted.
-the hotel has some sort of day pass to locals. Fine but when anyone can purchase it it also makes way for some “loose birds” of the city. We ended up being “next door” pool neighbors to someone who had obviously received a beating, dirty and tacky. These days we should be so accepting but we did not feel safe leaving our belongings entering the pool.

The perfect part:
Room. Nice in perfect condition. Every time.
Breakfast is very nice. Service is great.
Room service polite and quick.
House keeping never knocks on your door if you forget the “do not disturb”. They always do their job almost invisibly.
Pool attendants are very attentive.
So are the bar staff.

Everything here is just great. My mentioned issues are minor. Apart from water. Fix the water.

And ps. They are not very good at upgrading Hilton Honours gold even when there is availability.
Ps2. Get the imperial room upgrade. It’s worth paying for.

We stayed for a full week and it was the perfect antidote to what has been a very stressful year. Our first trip away in over 18 months and we felt coddled from the moment we arrived. We were contacted in advance by the hotel to encourage us to share any requests we may have had.

We enjoyed the breath taking views of Rome, relaxation was the order of the day and as this was a return visit we decided to explore the local area. Just a short drive away the fresh market was a joy to behold. The concierge pointed out to us a local deli where we bought some of the best cheeses I've ever tasted.

This is a luxury hotel and I encourage future guests to take advantage of their extensive knowlege to discover the best this magical city has to offer. The rooms are traditionally decorated and spotlessly cleaned, I felt very secure with regards to covid in every single part of the building.

Breakfast has changed as has the the executive lounge. These are temporary and more than sufficient. I would have liked to see the lounge hours extended from 8am to 8pm. It would have liked to escape my room in the morning for a coffee when the other half was enjoying a lie in.

Lastly, an extra special thanks to Lynn Knudsen, executive assistant, it was our pleasure to say hello in person and your interest in our stay just made it ever more special. You are a credit to the Hilton name and along with the entire team at the Cavalieri, ensure that the needs and satisfaction of guests remains their primary objective.

Don't hesitate to make The Cavalieri your home in Rome, you won't be disappointed!

My husband, 5 month old son and myself stayed here at the beginning of September. It was the perfect choice for us. Cheap enough for Uber to the main attractions that Rome has to offer, but slightly outside the main part so the hotel is quite.

On arrival staff were friendly and check-in was smooth. They even upgraded us to a room that over looked the swimming pools and the city. Beautiful. They were also happy to make our reservations for dinner, and called to confirm details. Always so professions, but you were made to feel that little bit special.

We only ate in one of the restaurants, was a little pricey in comparison to local restaurants. However, this is normal for hotels of this standard. The menu had many options, the food was delicious, well presented and the staff were helpful.

Absolutely blow away by the reception and door staff who were so friendly and nothing was to much for them. On checking out we enquired about the baby cot linen and they even made it possible for us to purchase the duvet that our son had fallen in love with.

Would highly recommend this hotel, and would love to come again.

We stayed here last weekend, yes the hotel is stunning , the quality is undeniable but yet so is the price.the beautiful areas you see on the website are not accessible unless you are paying top price for level 5 and above. We arrived to a beautiful room but very disappointed with a view of a road way, not the stunning panorama on the website, when I asked if there was another room available i was told yes at a cost of 220 per night extra. My husband booked this for a weekend away for us through Expedia and perhaps there was small print that he did not read ? Upon arrival a €100 'block' was placed on my husbands card , it was not explained why. It turns out it was to cover any thing used in mini bar & compulsory tax (were not aware).a bottle of water in the room was €8!! There is no local store so you have no choice but to buy it. We went to the spa to be informed that is also an extra charge of 20/25 per person each time (cant remember exact fee) , I have never stayed in a hotel that charged extra to use the very facilities you book for. When we were checking out the receptionist said €64 would be taken from 100 to cover water, tax and the pool ! When we arrived home my husband checked back to find 64 was charged twice to his account !!
Find this hotel exceptional for comfort but extortionate for 'extras' and we would not return here. The trip to the centre is not ideal and the shuttle bus leaves exactly on the hour, dont arrive 30 seconds after it will be gone. Finding it to come back is also a mystery, so much so we thought it didnt exist in the first place.
Ps Rome was absolutely stunning. We will be back. (To another hotel)

We booked this hotel after our 9 night cruise was cancelled. we were so glad we did. The service was absolutely top notch from start to finish. Staff were friendly and very keen to be of service. I would go as far as saying that they were the best I have ever encountered in any luxury hotel. We upgraded at a discount to an Imperial Club room as the first room were shown had a view of a 200ft pylon. The upgraded room had magical views of Rome, but we were disappointed in the limited offering of the clubroom due to COVID. Basic snacks and drinks only and it closed at 5.30pm. On the day it opened until 7.30pm we were not told and would probably have enjoyed more time by the pool on our final day. Nonetheless, the Club Room staff were great. The one thing we did not like at the hotel was the excessive prices. We had 2 extremely nice lunches at the pool restaurant, with fabulous service, but felt that 28 euros was too much for a chicken caesar salad for example. Drinks in the hotel bars were similarly expensive. room service was limited and expensive. We ended up ordering in pizza from outside one night. It wasn't possible to get a simple inexpensive meal so a few nights we ventured into the locality and there were some super neighbourhood restaurants.
We enjoyed the clay tennis courts and were very excited to see professional players using them too.
We didn't like having to wear swim caps in the outdoor pool.
Breakfast service was again superb, but a little awkward in that no buffet was operational in the usual sense. All food was served from behind screens. Coffee was brought to the table. L'Uliveto was a very nice place to start the morning. (Olivetto maybe our server?)
We loved the umbrella that was swiftly provided to us without asking at the foyer one night when we ventured out. the concierge sorted us a great restaurant booking in Rome for a birthday celebration.
The hotel is a little out of the town, but taxis are affordable and there is a decent shuttle every hour. The view justifies the location.
This hotel is traditional 5 star luxury, sparkling clean and dripping with artworks. It truly deserves its status. I cannot overstate what a wonderful stay we had and cannot wait to return.

Awesome resort, great location, excellent service, and beautiful views. This place has it all. The room was very spacious and had a balcony with stunning views. The friendliness of staff was great. The location, on a hill just above Vatican City, makes access to Rome sights very accessible- about a 10 Euro cab ride or the use of the hotel’s free shuttle once per hour. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back here in the future.

Family of 5 - stayed in 2 rooms connected. 2nd room 50%, booked 1 day before as spontaneous trip. General very high service everywhere in the hotel - people very kind and want to cater to your needs. Rooms was nice, if a bid old style decor, best part was nice beds, good air condition and the balcony. We really enjoyed the outside areas, especially the large pool where we spend a lot of our time, swimming and sun bathing. Very nice drinks as well. But very expensive. Fun to watch people here, mostly Italians, probably due to the Corona. Breakfast was the best we have tried this summer, no buffet, everything was served at the table and it was just so tasty, salads, omelets etc. fresh made. Amazing to sit outside in the nice weather, and take a swim after breakfast. We had dinner one night at Pergola, and this is a must if you enjoy fine dining, best Italian food I have tried. A perfect relaxing stay for me and the family, but be aware, that food and drinks are generally very expensive, however water was free of charge in the rooms.

I booked the hotel after reading all the great reviews here. But after staying there over Xmas I would not recommend it. Biggest issue is the location, it is a 20 minute taxi ride away from the city and to me the isolated setting is not ideal. Yes hotel has shuttle to city. But on my first day there (I was not sure how much taxi would cost) the supposedly hourly shuttle was late for 80 minutes. Worst part was the hotel concierge kept assuring me it was only 5-10 min away and no one really bothered to find out where the shuttle really was. After wasting 80 minutes of my precious trip time on a frustrating wait, I took a taxi and found it only cost about 15e. I never bothered with shuttle again but that experience was a horrible memory to me, worst of all the lack of regard the staff displayed in this situation. I would never stay there again even though room is nice enough.

To start, I am a Hilton honors diamond member and my wife and I have stayed at Waldorf Astoria hotels in 5 cities. Additionally I used points for my stay and was a great point value.

With that said, if you are looking for an upscale hotel with incredible service and beautiful property then this hotel over delivers. As a reference point, randomly the guests at the hotel warrant military protection at the front gate. As a guest you feel incredibly safe (I am not saying we didn’t otherwise feel safe in Rome).

Now onto the gem of this property...the spa, pools and fitness center. Check them out and use them. They are top rated in Europe. All marble and lavish. Want to step back and feel like a Roman emporer - use the Turkish bath - it’s like stepping back in time.

I read other reviews regarding the price of food and drinks the hotel. It’s somewhat expected for a Waldorf, but I do encourage management to review the price of soft drinks at the bar - 9 euros is exorbitant by any measure.

When we travel into cities we like to retreat to a property outside the city bustle. So the hotel’s location worked for us. We used both taxis (15 euros avg per trip) and found the free shuttle useful half the time.

If you are wondering where the free shuttle drops you off in Rome, it is right next to the US Embassy. I attached a picture of the schedule.

Again, if you are looking an upscale hotel with great service and an incredible spa or pools and fitness center you will not find a better hotel.

I had stayed in the Rome Cavaleiri for a week recently and can’t praise the standard of the hotel enough.
The staff at the check in desk Elena was brilliant . She was polite and so engaging . She took time to show us a few rooms . She did convince me of the Imperial lounge which was magnificent. We really liked our room .
The concierge was brilliant .
The imperial lounge staff Emanuella and Daniela were so friendly and their service was beyond my expectations.
The kids club had so many activities . The staff Jackmarack and Flavia were so entertaining .
My 5 year old son did not want to leave the hotel .
The spa and the swimming pool attendants were very attentive and helpful.
The restaurant and the breakfast were of extremely high standard .
The driver of the shuttle was so informative and was very pleasant to chat to .
The cleaners in the room were professional and cleaned the room to high standards bearing in mind of the Covid pandemic .
I do hope I will be able to have a similar experience in another hotel in my life time .
Kudos to the Waldorf Astoria group for giving tourists a truly luxurious experience.

Hi, the shuttle bus ran every half an hour when we stayed at the hotel. It picks up from the same place it drops you. We found we just got a taxi into and out of the centre. They are a very good price and it allowed us to go to the exact place we wanted and pick one up the same.

There are amazing grounds that the hotel is set in we would go for a walk around them which was brilliant. For Rome itself and sightseeing there is a shuttle bus the hotel runs but we just got a taxi to the centre which did not cost much. There are shops and the odd restaurant looking at a map I had, but we never went to them so do not know what they would be like.
