Travellers' Choice
Hôtel Locarno , housed in early 20th-century twin buildings, is well located on a charming little street just off of Piazza del Popolo. The 49 Guest rooms and Suites are sun-filled and romantic, appealing to our leisure guests while still functional for the business traveler. The interiors were carefully restored and reimagined in a retro-classic style, combining Art Deco furniture and fixtures with a dash of urban hipness. Intimate private salons and rooftop terraces offer venues for a variety of events from meetings and business lunches to cocktail receptions and gala dinners. Hôtel Locarno has an unbreakable bond with the world of art and culture. It has offered shelter to artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, and travelers who have chosen it as their refuge. It is a gem of relaxed elegance and authenticity in the historic center of Rome, indeed, Hôtel Locarno still inspires today!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If I could give this hotel a 10 star review I would! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to many attractions, is this charming gem of a hotel. It is old world elegance with every modern touch you could need. Rooms are large. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable with excellent quality linens. They have a turn down service very night with fresh water, chocolates or treats and slippers. The outstanding service from the servers, to the front desk was exceptional. They were helpful in guiding us to our destinations. They arranged taxi service when needed and we were always greeted with a smile and a genuine interest in how our day went. I had made a mistake in booking the type of room I needed, and they were super accommodating to my request for a change. I was given another room which was perfect for my needs. Just unbelievable excellent service all around. Breakfast was included in our rate and the food was delicious and in a lovely dining area. You ordered from a menu with a variety of choices, not the usual Continental fare. They had the best coffee I had my entire time I was in Italy. I loved this hotel. It proved to be way beyond my expectations in every aspect. I will recommend Hotel Locarno to any one I know visiting Rome. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there and an absolute treasure to find. I cannot say enough about what a fabulous place this is to stay.

This hotel was amazing! The decor was gorgeous. The ambience amazing. The privacy and staff exceptional. The bar fantastic. The breakfast good. Our stay was truly fantastic and a large part of it was due to the comfort and elegance of the hotel. The only downfall would be the shower – it was beyond small and water kept leaking everywhere as you couldn’t extend your arms to shampoo your hair without bumping the curtain and releasing water. But, they have the best hairdryer in the entire world… So it helped dry off the excess water at the shower left behind. Overall a 10 out of 10 and next time we are in Rome we will return.

The staff are fantastic and friendly. They provided great restuarant recommendations and nothing was too much bother for them. The breakfast was very high quality and in a relaxed setting. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The old fashioned lift is also a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.

Very central and quiet location close to piazza del popolo. Nice rooms, great bar and garden terrace. For the rooftop bar it was a bit too early in the season. Attentive and good staff. A highly recommend the Hotel Locarno for your stay in the eternal city.

This is not a flashy 21st century hotel. It was converted from a private house in the 1920s and hasn't changed much since. The floors are still uncarpeted marble, the bathrooms look as though they haven't been touched and there's even a wonderful old cage-type lift! So why do I rate it so highly? THE STAFF. You will not find a moe helpful, friendly and caring group ANYWHERE.

What an absolute pleasure staying at this picture-perfect hotel. Great location, beautiful Art deco old world style . The staff just make it perfect; every need or request is personally handled by them. Its lovely seeing a boutique hotel go above and beyond for their guests. I spent most of my time in their fantastic bar where the cocktails and conversations kept flowing. This is now and forever my hotel in Rome. Thank you Hotel Locarno for making our stay special.

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent historic hotel in the heart of Rome, around the corner from Piazza Del Popolo. Beautiful and comfortable room with high ceilings, chandelier and fabric walls. Shutters completely block light for restful sleep. Quirky century old key to unlock door and squeaky wooden floors just gave it character. (Don't worry-very modern bathroom). Made to order breakfast in quiet, elegant surroundings; extremely helpful and cheerful staff, all with good English speaking abilities. Close to most tourist sites. Easy walk to Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc. A wonderful visit.

E stato un soggiorno meraviglioso! Grazie all team. Perfect service, excellent location, most wonderful breakfast, beautiful rooms and impeccable service. Couldn’t do better. If you want to try truly abbruzzese kitchen, don’t hesitate to dine at Trattoria al Gran Sasso around the corner. Simple but honest food like my nonna used to cook.

If you are looking for a hotel to stay at in Rome, just book the Hotel Locarno and stop looking anywhere else. The location is perfect! The free breakfast everyday was an amazing start to the day. We were upgraded to a suite as it was our 25th wedding anniversary and it was perfect! The old classic elevator is really cool and the entire property is just beautiful! The only concerns are; (1) they don't have irons so be prepared to spend some money with them to have their staff steam what you need done (2) it is Rome and there is plenty of vehicle and noise from a close main road. Turn on some background noise and you will be fine! I can't wait to come back!
