The location is great and close to sites. However, we booked for access to the Metro only to arrive and find out that the station is closed for several months. We felt we should have been told before arrival. Also, we were not aware that there were steps to arrive at the first elevator and then steps to arrive at the second elevator which is required of all rooms and the restaurant/breakfast area. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the train station. The Colosseum and Forum are easy walking distance. Our room was not replenished daily… ie. tissues, used wine glasses not removed for multiple days and very late with housekeeping g service… ie. 2-4pm. The bartenders were amazing. Fun and friendly. If looking for access to Metro would not recommend a stay.

Room Tip: No access to metro. Dated with loud plumbing and thin walls. Close to many restaurants and sites.

This hotel has many good attributes. The location especially is good. The rooms are clean and are a decent size (we required an extra bed). The price is reasonable. Check-in and out were efficient. There were a couple of good bars just outside and several good restaurants nearby. The things to be aware of are: 1. The very dated decor - it looked like the hotel last had a make-over in the 1980s. Most of the stuff is still there and is in desperate need of modernisation. 2. Breakfasts were not great, but generally ok. I think as long as you know what to expect, then this hotel is fine. Just don't come expecting an amazing experience. Having said this, we would stay here again.

7 of us stayed at the Hotel Napoleon in March. We enjoyed our stay there, I would say that the hotel now needs a bit of modernisation, and is not quite 4*. However, the rooms were comfortable. & clean. The hotel is well situated for tourists, the Metro access is just outside the front door & an ideal way of getting about. Plenty of decent restaurants & bars in the immediate area too. We would definitely recommend a stay there.

⚠️ warning; Cleaning staff rifled through our luggage and close hanging in the closet as well.In drawers they will search your room every day thoroughly for anything that they can steal. We used tiny threads to detect if they opened drawers.Or Unzipped compartments in bags. There was plenty of evidence that our belongings were thoroughly searched every day of our week long stay. The hotel safe was impossible to operate. We carefully hid some foreign currency in a small obscured zipper pocket on some piece of luggage and they found it.And continued to look all week long. The cleaning staff are clearly thieves.

Great location and excellent check-in. But the hotel isn't anywhere near 4 stars. The bed was terribly lumpy, the decor was reminiscent of East Germany circa 1965, and the "amenities" were pretty sad. Breakfast was OK, but the gym and lounge were closed. Our room featured a coffee maker located nowhere near an electric outlet, a floor lamp located far away from the only chair, and a window with a lovely view of an alley directly outside, so leaving a window open wasn't a smart idea. We also had a sleeper sofa that was devoid of any cushions. As others have noted, reaching your room involves 2 elevator trips; this seems typical of older European hotels that have combined adjacent buildings into one property. It was odd but not a big deal. The front desk staff was very accommodating of our early arrival; we were in the room at about 10 am. And the hotel is only steps away from a metro stop. There's a number of good restaurants and shops nearby, and we took a stroll through the Piazza Emanuele Vittorio right across the street. But the hotel itself was kind of sad, not quite what we were expecting.

Last stayed here 45 years ago and it's still a nice little hotel with friendly staff. Would have given it 5 stars, but for the surrounding area which now has its fair share of closed shops and graffiti. On the plus side, the hotel has a Metro station right outside and is within easy walking distance of the Colosseum and other attractions. There's also a park opposite the entrance. Lots of restaurants nearby (the hotel doesn't have its own) of which our favourite is Trattoria Monti. Rooms are well-furnished and clean, perfect for a comfortable stay. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast buffet, and some food available in the hotel bar during the evening. Roof terrace looks like a nice place to sit during warmer months. Signs indicated a gym, but we couldn't find it.

A Good hotel in busy city of Roam. Brilliant location. We travelled walking to Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Roma central train station etc. Walking distance from Central bus stands AND Just on the door of Metro station. In front of a biggg Park , Surrounded with restaurants (India, Nepali, Srilankan, Italian, Bars, Coffee shops, McDonald etc etc, Just an arm stretch away). Rooms are as they hv in Europe, not as much big as Indian hotels. We got a BIGG room, which was just fit for two people. But good size to stay in centre of the city. Staff is good. Bfast is Better if not good. We had to leave at 6.30 am for a tour and they got us packed Bfast too. Best thing - I got a mail some 18 hours before my check out asking if everything is right and if something bothered me they can fix while I was still there. This is something unique and really tells how much they care for you. Also saw two pouches of Liquid detergent if we need to wash our inner garments and also two pouches of internal Hygiene . This was really good. Bath room size was good with all required amenities. Beddings comfortable and clean, Front staff very good. In Short , awesome place for the cost we paid ( INR Rs 12,000 for a BIG room - around 230 sq feet - for two, with bfast , on 25,26,27 Jan 2024 ). Thanks for everything :) !

This hotel has cancelled 2 rooms as we booked them in October 2023 at €150 and they can now sell them at €350! They say they informed Hotels.com about a credit card pre authorisation issue but we were never told and Hotels.com know nothing either. I contacted the hotel directly and was told by Filomena, the manager that I will have to book at the new rate, that is their policy! Be aware that this hotel has cancelled bookings before.

Response from Filomena di Nuzzo, General Manager at Hotel Napoleon
Responded 5 Feb 2024
Dear Mr. Chris the reason why your reservation was cancelled is because your credit card was not valid to guarantee the reservation, so after reporting the matter on Hotel.com; for their policy the reservation can be cancelled. Therefore, given that for revenue strategy the rates are changed daily, at the time of reinstatement the rate was the one communicated and you unkindly demanded the reinstatement. To slander people who do their work with dedication and for the benefit of the customer, when they politely and kindly request things from us is not very nice. However, we would be happy to welcome you any time. Filomena

I've just spent 4 nights here and this was, I think, my fifth visit to this hotel. It's very convenient - about 15 mins walk to Colosseum in one direction and Termini station in the other, plenty of restaurants and cafes close by. St John Lateran is about 25 mins walk away. I travel alone and I've always felt comfortable and safe in the hotel and in the surrounding area. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. There's a bar and restaurant (with a fairly limited menu) in the hotel, but it was unfortunately not open every night I was there. However, there are plenty of other places to eat close by. I didn't have breakfast in hotel so can't comment on that. The metro station on the piazza takes you to Termini and to places like St Peter's. The staff were very polite and helpful and sorted out a few issues I had quickly.

Awesome hospitality. The front desk was really helpful and kind and patient. The concierge was the bestest. They arranged all my transport discount and was thoughtful of my kids' needs. I was so happy to see the old school vibe and homeliness of the venue in the middle of the city. The hotel is clean and neat. The place does have small areas to fix, but it's not a train smash. I read a lot of reviews and was optimistic, but upon arrival, I felt the old school warmth. The library is quint and the photo spots are so sweet. Loved the Xmas tree and the piano. Area is safe. Walked around quite a bit. The park opposite is a definite must. Really appreciate the sweet, kind nature of the concierge.
