Visited Rome in September 2010. From the first minute you could feel the nice atmosphere. The staff was very kind and helpfull. Showed on a map the best shopping, tourist highlights, buses etc. I had a clean and nice singleroom, my friend the next room in the same floor, also ice and clean. The buffé-breakfast was a perfect start of...

My vacation was my first experience in Italy. When arriving at the Napoleon expecting a large lobby (to used to the USA hotels) it seemed very small. However, going to the second floor was what I was more used too a huge lounge and lobby. We were 3 staying in our room and we had a king size beg and...

Our first trip to Rome, and was the best experience we could have hoped for. We had a transfer booked from the airport, was on time and very efficient, when we arrived at the hotel we were greeted straight away and the head concierge was very helpful and gave us a map of Rome with areas to see and highlighted...

We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon. We were only in Rome for one night, and we were able to see the Colosseum, which is pretty close by. We were also able to walk to the Termini, which was not too far away. Other than that, it is not in a particularly nice area. Walking outside the...

Dear Sir, I am grateful for the fact that you emphasize how easy is getting from the hotel to the Colosseum and to Termini station. In your ratings you rate also “very good” the cleanness, and the sleep quality. I am glad for this appreciation, but I wonder how you could value the other aspects of the hotel having such...

This was our first trip to Italy and we stayed in three different hotels in three different parts of the country. I chose the hotels based on Trip Advisor reviews, along with several guidebooks. I have to admit, I was most worried about this one, after noting that most of the "better" hotels in Rome charge $400+ per night, more...

My fiance and I stayed in this hotel our first few nights in Italy and it turned out to be the perfect location for us. Literally steps away from the Metro we were able to easily get to where we needed to go. Other reviewers have said the area wasn't really safe and not to walk in the park across...

My two (2) sisters and I stayed four (4) nights at this small, family run hotel which is near a bus and metro stop which takes one to most of the tourist spots that everyone wants to see. The rooms were small (we asked for three single rooms), but very clean. The breakfast was more than sufficient. But the most...

When we go back to Rome we won't even look at any other Hotels. Hotel Napoleon is located less than ten minutes from the colliseum, the metro is ten steps from the hotel entrance, and the gelato across the street is excellant! Also the head concierge Franco, made our stay very special, he went the extra mile all the time,...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
