This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the city, in a very quiet area between the Colosseum and the Tiber river. The rooms are quite large (although mine was much smaller room 228 than the other ones), simple and clean. Lights in the bathroom were great but in the bedroom (which has a very high ceiling) the lighting wasn't great, especially if you have to work at the desk (no desk light) but price of the room is really affordable. Strong dollars of course helps. Breakfast was included in the price, with basic eggs, sausages, yogurt, fresh fruits and continental breakfast was available. The coffee compare to European standard was not good, made by a machine. Staff at the front desk was always very polite and helpful.

As someone who rarely stays in top notch hotels, this was a lovely experience. Kolbe Hotel felt really clean and cool with lots of room for seating in the lobby, which was especially appreciated coming in after a long and hot day of sight seeing.
I would like to thank the staff, including the cleaners who were so polite and welcoming, seeing to our every need during our stay. Our rooms were cleaned daily which must have been hard work for so many rooms, but it did not go unnoticed and I was very glad for it! Please pass on my thanks to them in particular as our rooms were always spotless when we came back.
Breakfasts I felt also encouraged a relaxing start to the day being self serve with a continental buffet, so it pretty much catered for everyone. The outside terrace garden was very well kept, just watch out for the scavenging birds pinching your toast.
The hotel is in a great location, ideal for travelling to the big tourist spots like the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. These places can get very busy though so be mindful of big crowds.
Overall a hugely enjoyable experience. I will recommend this place to traveller friends in future. Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful city!

We have just returned from a lovely break in Rome stopping at the Kolbe Hotel. The hotel arranged our pick-up from the airport which was worth the few extra € to avoid queuing for a taxis and you knew exactly what you were going to pay. We were given a nice ground floor room which had French doors opening onto the hotel garden. Our booking included breakfast with excellent service which always set us up for a full days exploring. Nice comfy bed and en-suite bathroom though this had no shower gel or shampoo (might be a Covid restriction) When out and about comfy shoes are a must (we walked over 15Km every day) and be aware that unless you have ID that you are fully vaccinated you will not be allowed into any building, bar or restaurant.

Dear Paul, thank you for your amazing vote and feedback. We are happy to see that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel and we apologize for the missing shampoo. Next time please just inform the Reception and they'll be happy to send it to your room. You're right: comfortable shoes are a must indeed. When visiting Rome it's best to walk (whenever possible) and to discover the major and smaller monuments with ease. In any case the bus stop and the metro station are near and the hop on hop off bus stops at Circo Massimo, for those who prefer to admire the city in a comfortable way. We hope you'll soon have another occasion to return to Rome and we look forward to welcoming you again! Kind regards, Kolbe Hotel Rome - Marieke

My friends and I had stayed here to celebrate the New Year in Rome. The service that you receive at the hotel from the moment you arrive until the moment you check out is exceptional! We felt very comfortable staying there as the hotels follows all covid protocols from checking vaccine cards, temperature, wearing masks in all common areas, sanitizing bags and the overall cleanliness of each area/room. The staff there are friendly and always greet you with a smile and are there to help whenever you need it. Make sure to also enjoy breakfast and dinner there as the food is always delicious. Every plate from our NYE dinner was amazing.

The hotel is also in a great location. One step outside and you are walking through history with the Circus Maximus, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and Colosseum all right there. Make sure to also get a view of all of this from the rooftop terrace at the hotel!

We will definitely be back for another stay at the Kolbe! (Maybe during warmer months so we can enjoy some time outside in the beautiful courtyard!)

Looking for a place to stay in Rome? Don’t be fooled by the appearance and skip this hotel! At first glance Kolbe Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. However our troubles started in the first 24h of our 5 day stay like I’ve never experienced before. When we arrived we were delighted to discover we were assigned a spacious room with jacuzzi bathtub. After a quick lunch in the neighbourhood, we returned to the hotel but couldn’t enter our room as our keycard didn’t seem to work. Annoying, but luckily after a quick visit to the reception the problem was fixed and we couldn’t wait to use the jacuzzi after a long day of traveling. However the tub didn’t live up to its expectations: the bottom was chipped looking very dirty and unhygienic with sharp edges, when turning on the jacuzzi the ‘bubbles’ were only coming out of one side, and on top of that it was leaking heavily! After using the jacuzzi for 15 minutes the whole bathroom was flooded with water, even the carpet in the sitting area was wet! We rushed to the reception to inform the staff of the inconvenience, afraid that the water might have leaked to the room below ours. The staff however wasn’t too concerned, as we were given one single towel.. Only after repeatedly assuring the staff that one towel would not be close to enough, they seemed to care and offered to take a look at our room. Maintenance was not available at the moment they told us, so we had to wait till the next day for the jacuzzi to be fixed and were left with the flooded bathroom and a towel. We were not informed at what time the reparations would be, only that it’d be after breakfast. When we returned to our room in the afternoon for a siesta the next day, we found the staff in our room asking us to leave for another hour so they could finish their work. They casually mentioned we had to wait till the evening to use the bathroom with regards to the reparations of the tub.. We couldn’t say a word, being flabbergasted by the whole situation and lack of service. We thought we had it, but coming back to our room we found out the maids didn’t even leave us any towels. We used them all the day before. Third trip to the reception... Additionally we found out the safe wasn’t working, but we didn’t want to go through the trouble of reporting it to the staff at the time. After all it turned out the jacuzzi wasn’t even fixed: it was still leaking heavily... Stains in the carpet, bins that do not open... Breakfast was okay though.

Dear MillieMrs, It is our practice to carefully follow the reviews of our customers, in particular for your review we did a thorough research to understand how the facts reported by you incorrectly and incomplete were carried out. You had booked a standard room for 4 nights, and instead upon your arrival at the hotel you were assigned a Jr. Suite with Jacuzzi tub at no extra charge. At 21:30 assuming that you had already taken a shower, you reported to the reception the bad functioning of the shower, the receptionist informed you that the next day it would be repaired. In fact, the next day (26/7/21) our technician performed the intervention by restarting the shower of the whirlpool tub. You were actually asked to use the shower only a couple of hours after the intervention. You were also asked if you wanted to change rooms, but as you were assigned a Jr. Suite instead of a standard double as you booked, you replied that you preferred to stay in the suite. The only disservice was created by the maid who did not bring you new towels in time and we apologize for that. After the intervention of our technician, we have not received any other report of a fault from you during the rest of your stay. On the day of your departure the same suite was assigned to a new client who was delighted to have a Jacuzzi tub. Before answering today, we checked the bathroom again and found that everything works perfectly. Therefore we consider your criticisms unfounded and unfair. In a pandemic period still so disastrous, and difficulties for everyone, many customers have shown understanding for small disruptions also for the fact that in this period they benefit from discounted prices even up to 50% less than standard rates, appreciating a holiday at the sign of the safety offered by our hotel and enjoy the new pleasure of traveling by overlooking the little things. What saddens us is to see that, after everything we have been through and are still going through due to the pandemic, there may be people who are dissatisfied with trivialities such as receiving towels not in time, and have not appreciated for example the peace of our internal garden, to have the opportunity to dine in the shade of ancient olive trees of our garden, or to be in a historic building of the seventeenth century located in the most beautiful archaeological area of the Eternal City, from where you can comfortably visit the most important monuments on foot of ancient Rome such as the Palatine Hill, the Circus Maximus, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and many others. Returning from a Roman holiday and talking about towels, shows that in this case the true values of life are not appreciated. Too often we spend our time behind completely useless, or futile, things without thinking about how beautiful and important our life is. We wish you to seize the beautiful moments that life offers us and to live them with conscious satisfaction. Best regards, Hotel Management

Bottom line: a great 4 star hotel in the thick of Rome for a fair price.

My wife and I stayed here for our third stop on our honeymoon across Italy. Based on the location, expect to have to walk about 0.7 miles to the major attractions, however Uber is super accessible and fairly cheap compared to the US (about 10 Euro regardless of time of day). The accomodations were consistent with what you would expect for a 4 star hotel, but it overall had a very sleek feel while still comfortable. Breakfast was complementary from 7-10am, and was the best out of any of the places we stayed on the trip. Would recommend for a relatively centralized location and very nice accomodations.

Me, my wife and my 2 children ( 6 and 8 years old) spent 3 nights in this hotel in August. We booked a family room, it was large, clean and with all modern comforts, with a nice view on the Palatine Hill. Many restaurant within walking distance from hotel but, if you want to play it safe, eating well, paying the right amount and having a fantastic dine experience with table under a centturies-old olive trees, than reserve a table and enjoy the Garden restaurant in the inner court of the hotel. This hotel is located in real heart of historical centre of rome, close to most of the attractions in Rome, all at walking distance. The friendly hospitality of the staff in this hotel is a compelling reason to go here. Strongly recommend to stay here

My friends and I stayed at the Kolbe Hotel during New Years Eve ('21-'22) and a few days after. We had a wonderful time. We felt very comfortable with all of the covid protocols. When we walked in they took our luggage and sanitized each piece. When walking through the hotel each person needs to wear a mask and a temperature scan is available at the front entrance.

All of the food we had from breakfast to the New Years Eve dinner was fantastic. The continental breakfast is behind plexiglass and served to you by an attendant who is following all of the covid precautions which once again made us feel very safe.

The location is perfect. Not only could we could see Palatine Hill out our window but everything is relatively close by. The colosseum, Roman Forum, and Circo Massimo is roughly a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel is located in an amazing place near to the forum and circus maximus. We had a lovely 5 days at the hotel with a lovely room over looking the garden, The breakfasts are in a buffet style and great to set you up for a days site seeing. The staff were helpful, however on asking where to eat (not in the hotel) they were not as knowledgeable as they could have been but in wandering around we found plenty of places near by to. The only negative was the new years eve meal in the hotel that was not to a very high standard for the price they charged, but watching the fireworks from the roof terrace was amazing.

Dear Guest, we thank you for your wonderful vote and for your compliments on our location, rooms and breakfast! It's good to read that you had a lovely stay in our hotel. In the neighborhood there are several places to eat, some are expensive yet simple, some are good with reasonable prices. The most typical Roman restaurants are at a 10 minute walk from here, in Trastevere or in the Ghetto area. Our hotel restaurant offers a relaxing atmosphere and very good quality food and from spring to autumn we have our exclusive courtyard garden! We look forward to welcoming you again on your next trip to Rome. Kind regards, Marieke - Kolbe Hotel Rome

The Kolbe Hotel was very nice but it's not overly impressive. Nonetheless, it had some wonderful qualities that we appreciated.

It's not in the hustle and bustle of the city so we looked forward to returning there after our long, hot days touring the city.

Our room was clean but quite small as was the bathroom. I'm sure there are much larger rooms available with much higher rates but we didn't need that for our stay.

Breakfast was a little disappointing because something was always missing (orange juice ran empty, salt/pepper wasn't available) at the buffet and the eggs were consistently cold.

The hotel staff was nice but not overly friendly. We also didn't have a refrigerator or coffee/tea in our room which would have been nice.

The garden was lovely and a nice place to escape to if you wanted some quiet space alone. They do host private parties there at night but they ended by 10 or 11 pm so it was manageable.

It's within walking distance of the Colloseum so this was a major plus.

There are also several restaurants right up the street so that was also very convenient.

We are glad that you enjoyed these aspects of your stay in our hotel. We apologize for the missing items at breakfast and for the coffee/tea making facilities which is a standard amenity in some of our room categories but not in the room you had. It's true, there are some very nice restaurants and bars in our neighborhood, indeed very convenient. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kind regards, Kolbe Hotel Rome - Marieke

It was also very easy to get the train and then bus to the hotel from the airport if you are comfortable and confident using public transport. Obviously depends on luggage as well but it was an easy journey, cost me about €10 euro max Staff and hotel are very great though, even offered to get me a taxi to return me to the airport at a fixed price
