Excellent location, lovely gardens and very attentive staff. We could not ask for more from the hotel. Within a couple of minutes and you are walking in the Vatican City, a few minutes in another direction and you're in the historical area. If we were to stay again I would request a garden view room.

Hotel's Favourite
I’ve been coming to Rome since I was eighteen years old, and I’ve stayed all over the city in a wide range of accommodation levels. Rome is one of those strange cities where there’s such a tourist draw; fine hotels don’t have to try too hard to retain a loyal following and call themselves “luxury.” For this reason and unlike other cities in Europe, it’s been hard to find me and my husband a home away from home in the Eternal City. I thought we had found it last year with a stay at Hotel Hassler – a perfect stay. However, little did I know until our trip this year that Villa Agrippina has even Hotel Hassler beat in terms of facilities and service. I think we waited so long to try Villa Agrippina due to the location – an extra 10-15 minutes’ walk from the major sites in the city. Little did I know this extra walk is a strong reason to stay at the hotel. It really removes you from Rome’s chaos and makes you feel like you’re part of something special. The fantastic experience started last year when I booked our room and started speaking with the front desk and concierge team about details and logistics concerning the trip. Major shout outs to Francesca, Giulia, Inna, Scilla, and Gianfranco for all their detailed and organized communication with me via email. The team even went ahead and honored a Leading Hotels of the World Sterling room upgrade within a week of my booking date, which was impressive. The hotel arranged a car pickup from Termini, Mercedes E-Class or similar. I was excited when we walked up to the car, it was a brand-new Audi A6. I drive Audi vehicles at home in Dallas, so being in something stylish and familiar was enjoyable while we drove across town and crossed the river. As we approached the turn up the hill toward the resort gates, something happened in a matter of seconds. The crowds and traffic just disappeared. No one was around. We drove through the gates and up to the roundabout. We were greeted by four members of staff. Not one, not two, but four. Their smiles, energy, and friendliness were fantastic. Between the hospitality, meticulous landscaping surrounding us, stunning villa façade, and absolute silence, we were really taken back. Villa Agrippina is another world, isolated from Rome’s chaos. The hotel just oozes in style at every turn. The frosted glass entrance doors to the lobby offer a neat effect. You don’t see what you’re about to walk into, and then the automatic doors part. You’re greeted with lots of marble, large-scale sculpted art, stunning chandeliers, and a reception desk where you are invited to sit for the check-in process. Check-in was quick and friendly, then we were escorted to our room and given a quick rundown of our Junior Suite. The room was very large, especially by Rome standards. It included a proper sitting area, two televisions, a wonderful king-size bed, and an impressive bathroom area with a huge bathtub and wet area featuring a large rain head shower, and even a window for fresh air. I also really appreciated the two wardrobes – plenty of space for both of us to unpack. The hotel’s food and beverage program were fantastic, and the lobby lounge/bar off the main entrance was stunning. The room was full of intimate sitting areas, flowers & plants, impeccable furnishings, and a beautiful bar at the center. Service was very attentive, and we enjoyed cocktails and snacks here two of our three days. In addition, the breakfast spread was plentiful, and I appreciated the variety of hot and cold offerings. Final note – I cannot recommend Villa Agrippina enough. If you crave top-level bespoke service, modern luxury, and a peaceful respite from one of the Europe’s craziest cities, this is the place for you!

What makes this hotel special is not its facilities, which are really fantastic, but its staff at all levels; from the first moment of check-in to the sad moment of check-out, passing through all the time during the stay, they care about making you feel different, special, solving problems, clarifying doubts, facilitating your stay in the Eternal City and causing your inevitable return in the not too distant future.

We stayed here as part of a cruise extension in Rome. The location was central and convenient and the grounds and public spaces were lovely. The buffet breakfast each morning was excellent. Our room was very uncomfortable. It was cramped with no view. The bathroom and the commode/bidet were in separate rooms and if you weren’t careful your fingers would get smashed between the doors as you opened one. You could not easily open all the closet doors because one hit the bedside table before it was fully opened. The shower was a shower/tub combination, but the tub was rounded at the bottom, so standing in it while showering was very precarious and seemed like a real fall hazard. One wall of the bathroom was a window looking into the room. You could pull the shade down for privacy, but why would anyone want that?

Without a doubt the best hotel we have stayed in Europe, the attention to detail was impeccable. We stayed four nights during our stay in Rome. The jewel in the crown of this hotel has to be the staff be it the front desk to the bar staff to the orderlies - very professional yet very welcoming. Marta at the concierge desk was just a star with some very good recommendations be it restaurants or places to visit. The ambience at the Amara bar was so relaxing after a long day sightseeing the wonders that Rome offers. Would highly recommend dining at the fine dining restaurant called Follie - an Italian food experience of a very high standard. We will definitely be back to Rome & we will rebook the same hotel given the exceptional experience we enjoyed

This was a wonderful Stay in a fabulous part of Rome . The hotel Is 5 star and didn’t disappoint . The room was gorgeous, with a great outside space Breakfast was extensive and in a lovely restaurant. It wasn’t warm Enough to eat outside but this would be incredible in the summer. The concierge was very helpful with restaurants. It was easy to walk into Trastevere one night and across the river another night. Loved it

Stayed for 3 nights in March. Not a busy time in Rome, which was perfect for us. The hotel is luxurious, it smells amazing all the time!! Rooms are modern and stylish. The breakfast is served in beautiful surroundings. The bar is a lovely place to unwind. The staff are great, always smiling and provide excellent service, from the porters to reception. Special mention to the exceptional concierge Marta. So incredibly helpful, assisting us to navigate around beautiful Rome. We use Melia when possible, and this property maintains the high Melia standard. Thank you!!

Visited as two couples for my girlfriend’s birthday. The hotel is stunning. Location next to the Vatican is perfect and only a 40 minute walk to the coliseum. Uber taxis are abundant if you prefer. Deluxe room is small but lovely. Our friends had a premiere room which was much bigger. The real high point is the staff. From the bellboys onwards, everyone was super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Unfortunately the pool is closed until the weather gets warmer so check with the hotel if that is important to you. Will be back.

Dear Guest, I am overjoyed to read your kind remarks regarding your most recent visit to the Villa Agrippina, a Gran Melia Hotel. Indeed I can agree with you that we have two strengths: the staff, who are constantly willing to spoil our customers, and our location, which puts us in close proximity to the major attractions. Our property, as you can noticed, has an outdoor seasonal pool, therefore it is open only during the summer, a crucial information which is readily available from our website. We look forward to welcoming you back in the nearest future, maybe during the Summer so you can enojy our lovely pool. Warmest regards, Giulia Spiccia Guest Experience Agent.

We had a great stay at Villa Agrippina. The staff was amazing. The location worked well for us. It's a short walk to the Vatican and Trastevere restaurants. To get to other attractions, it's a relatively easy walk across the river (e.g. 10-15 mins). We paid to include breakfast and it was completely worth it; the food was great. We had a room with a hot tub and balcony that had an absolutely amazing view of Rome's skyline. We highly recommend this hotel.
