Hotel is in a good location if you don’t mind a walk. It’s a bit out of the way to central Rome, but is about half hour walk to “Alter of the Fatherland” which follows on to the Colosseum etc, and a 10 min taxi ride to Castel st’Angelo. There is an underground about 15 min which is quick and easy to get anywhere. Room was pretty basic, we didn’t mind as we didn’t intend to spend much time there at all so depends what you are looking for. The bed was comfy, they have a safe. Some rooms apparently have a fridge, we didn’t. Rooms are quiet you don’t hear the traffic noise unless you have window open. I had to ask for handwash and toilet tissue when we arrived as these were empty, but they do make the up room everyday, and we had everything we needed going forward. Wasn’t the cleanest of rooms in terms of decor. There were dirty marks over the walls and the curtains didn’t look great. Staff were friendly! Would I come back to this hotel? Probably not. But it was just somewhere to put our heads after a day of site seeing. Don’t be shocked there is city tax charged at this hotel! We paid €60 for 3 nights

The hotel is decent , the towels are being changed daily and they do the bed. That is pretty much all. Our toilet seat was broken , and was fixed our last days of stay , out of 7 days. Whilst we had shower , the bathroom was flooded so used 4 big towels to dry afterwads. Does require a general painting and cleaniness. Breakfast is reallh poorly and a dissapontment . They have scrambled eggs and bacon, three different kind of ham , 3- 4 different croissants , 2 different yoghurts , a few cereals and that's all. Also staff don't add food until people wipe the last few scraps , a few times we had to wait until they brought food again to refill. Also , the biggest dissapointment , after paying quite enough for a hotel that is so far from centre , we also had to pay €110 local tax for 2 people for 7 days , why would the hotel not informed of this before booking or even on the first day of our arrival ?!! A family at the check out were arguing with the staff as they have used all money etc. It was really sad. The buses take longer than estimated , and are not always on time , also 160 seems to run every half an hour , as far as noticed. However, I would say pay a bit more and stay closer to the city with better and more choices offered .

The hotel is really nice, clean and comfortable the breakfast is lovely too. The staff are so friendly and helpful and it was only a 10 min walk to the metro station which took us to the main sites. It was nice to stay out of the busy parts of the city.

We stayed here last week and just wanted to thank all the team, who worked so hard, were friendly and helpful. Thankyou very much. We booked via Easyjet and were initially a little dubious as the Hotel had a few poor reviews and was in a bit of an “out of town location”. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, clean and fresh. The hotel likewise. Piping hot shower, fluffy towels, and comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent. Coffee as good as you would expect and a big choice of continental hams/cheeses/fruit/yoghurt/muesli even scrambled egg n bacon. (Yes I know, not English style bacon, but thin and crispy). Loads of breads, croissants and cakes. Couldn’t fault it. Breakfast staff kept everything topped up and were all smartly dressed. Front of house where superb, spoke English and answered any queries we needed to ask. We have to make a special mention of the very professional slightly older lady on reception. Who sorted us out an emergency taxi, when we messed up our timings. What a star she was, we would have totally messed up our day without her help. Checkout was a breeze, don’t forget “city tax” that isn’t included in your EasyJet costs, so you pay the Hotel on checkout. Checkout was 11am. But the Hotel had a luggage room and a lounge area where we could wait for our airport transfer. We went and walked a couple of miles on the Appian Way, then returned to catch our transfer. We found buses into town were plentiful, with several stops within 5 mins walk. We didn’t bother with tickets but used our debit cards to “Tap On”. This debits your card, under two euros and gives you a timed journey. One tap per trip was all we ever used. Google Maps was our friend for navigation, listing buses, metro and walking routes. Although we never used the Metro. Finally, a word of warning. ALL the major tourist sites are rammed with itinerant traders, touts and scammers. Do not interact with these people, if anyone approaches you with bottled water/friendship bracelets/selfie sticks/power banks etc just say NO and walk on. Also be aware of pickpockets on bus/train/street. I had my wallet stolen from a forward facing shoulder bag on the bus. How, I don’t know. Luckily my account only had 49 euros in it, but they made a contactless purchase within 30 mins. Before I could block the card. But hey ho, no one was hurt and I can pass on the salutary lesson. Enjoy Rome, we will be back and we will stay at the Caravel again.

Nice hotel that was excellent value for money. Very clean and all the staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent with freshly baked pastries etc. There is a bus stop across the road but we used the Metro to get into the main centre. The station was a 15 minute walk from the hotel and then just a 10 minute journey to the Colosseum. The negatives are limited choice on the menu for an evening meal and not the best views from the hotel room

Pro’s; - 5 minute walk from a metro station point - Bathroom is functional, clean and has a window so demisting is easy! Powerful shower too - Kingsize bed instead of two pushed together (standard double room) - Ample wardrobe room and full length mirror - Lobby is clean and artsy - Staff aren’t over the top! They are approachable and kind and helpful - It is a perfect stop base for exploring - Internet is free regardless of device amounts (see cons) - Kettle and Mini Fridge available on request, Cash vending machine in hallways - Small supermarket (called Pam) 5 min walk away - Easy taxi and Uber collection outside the door - Secure room for your luggage pre check in - Taxi to Trevi fountain - €14-€16 - Taxi/Uber to Airport - €20-€30 - Bidet with towels Cons; - Don’t pay for a room with a view, you can have 3 buildings or a road - The room is old, there’s cracks etc but it’s clean! A chair on our room looked suspicious but we move on. - When booking you’ll see no mention of €7.50 tourist fee per day! There is a sign at the desk upon booking in however - Most Rome flights feature morning arrival, check in is at 2pm sharp and no earlier, no negotiations. - Internet and 5G is awful quality, recommend downloading Netflix bits before coming (TV has 1 UK channel and its BBC news!) - Breakfast looked awful albeit we didn’t try it, I would opt out and go explore locally - Bidet with towels - Aircon is locked so you can’t turn it on and it wasn’t user friendly

Positives - Location was good , near everything. Staff were really friendly and helpful with everything asked for. We had a massive balcony. Shower was nice powerful and warm bed got made everyday Negatives- We had a disabled bathroom in our room and was filthy - towels were left on floor from people before. Was just disgusting. Bed was really uncomfortable like rock hard. Breakfast was average. Tv had hardly any channels. Our air-con unit bleeped and flashed all night one night. Area was bit dodgy . Road was neglected almost.

Stayed here with friends beginning of January. Very much enjoyed our stay - staff were fab, room was lovely and the choice for breakfast was large. We took the bus into Rome center ( bus stop just a few minutes walk away and they run very frequently). Plenty of restaurants around the area. Shout out to the lady (days) and gentleman ( nights) on reception - I'm sorry I can't remember your names but you were both extremely helpful and kind with your recommendations of places to eat in the local area and directions. City tax does need to be paid but that goes for all cities in all countries so please take that into account it's not the hotels fault.

My partner and I booked this hotel expecting 4 star quality. What we received wasn’t what we would call a 4 star experience. We booked a triple room for the 2 of us (I think that was due to availability) and we stayed for 7 nights. When we arrived the hotel staff were lovely, got us checked in and we went on our merry way, the decor in the lobby was tasteful and everything was clean, as expected. When we walked into our room we were immediately greeted by scuffed walls and floors, and dirt foot prints and marks on the walls, most of which would take all of a few minutes to wipe off. The room was otherwise clean and the beds were made beautifully. The bathroom was beautiful and spotless. We discovered to our disappointment that there were no chairs on the balcony and only one chair in the entire room, which was designed to sleep 3 people. Because of this we were unable to relax in our room without sitting in bed which isn’t always the most comfortable place to sit. The breakfast was great, but the way the food/drinks were laid out did mean that whenever there was a small queue for the coffee machine it was hard to get juice or water, or even a plate to get some food. The bar/restaurant opening times were a bit disappointing, opening 6-10 Sunday-Thursday meant that they lost quite a bit of business from us as many times after returning to the hotel from eating dinner out we would have liked to had a drink or two at the bar, but couldn’t as the restaurants in Rome typically don’t open till 7-7:30 as such we would often return to the hotel after the bar had closed. Overall, our experience was a little lack lustre, the bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom was nice even if the shower didn’t drain quite quick enough. But there were a few key things missing and a number of details that led us to believe that the 4 star status wasn’t deserved. It also would have been nice to have been warned somewhere on the hotel site when we booked or when we checked in about the increase in the tourist tax in Italy. We were fortunate to be in a position to afford it without worry but an active forewarning about it (not just a small sign on the front desk with lots of text) would have been nice.
