We only stayed one night at this very nice hotel, en route to other destinations. It is very conveniently located to the railway station and to buses, yet the street itself was quiet during the night. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the room very clean. We enjoyed a good breakfast on the terrace - ample food and...

Stayed at this hotel for the rugby weekend. Great place to stay very central to sites and train station. Staff were fantastic especially the lady on reception during the evening, made you feel at home and special, nothing was too much for her. The hotel was clean and breakfast was very good. Could not fault. We stayed on the 2nd...

The employees at this hotel are fantastic people! It is a rather small hotel, so the employees will get to know you right away. That is a good thing, because they are very attentive. They go the extra mile to help you with your tourist plans, find a nice meal, and enjoy every aspect of your stay. I especially want...

This is a fantastic little hotel located around a 10 – 15 minute walk from the central train station in Rome. The hotel, though only 3 stars had everything we needed for a short stay, including a terrific breakfast. The hotel has a basic reception / lobby area, but our room was more than reasonable for the price paid. We...

Our group stayed in the Columbia during the rugby international weekend involving Wales, and while it was at best a clean and comfortable hotel which was excellently located, what made it stand out was the exceptional friendliness and service of all the staff. They could not do enough for us and made our stay an absolute pleasure. The breakfast was more...

Room bijou but adequate with mini bar and toiletries if needed. More than enough coat hangers and standard of cleanliness good. All staff couldn't do enough for you. Good location near to centre with easy access to public transport and restaurant/bars. Alessio restaurant opposite a little pricey but good food and service and the lamb special was excellent. This hotel...

This hotel is really charming. It has a rather old-fashioned style and it really gives you the feeling of being in Italy. The rooms are not so big but neither so small as I have experienced in other countries. We stayed there during summer where the temperature was more than 30 degrees but thanks to the aircondition, the room was...

Back to the hotel Columbia where I've stayed several times on business and delighted to find the same warm welcome from the excellent reception. My room was really big, quiet and comfortable and now has tea making facilities in the bedrooms too. I love the roof terrace which is s perfect place for breakfast and the breakfast at the hotel...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
