———————————-

I find it a shame that they rent a room where it’s specified that they have a pool and then when you want to go they tell you it is closed. Nobody told us when we checked in, we came looking for pool and sun and what we received is rude answers and no solution at all. The room is very good but we already feel discouraged since they have spoiled our vacation quite a lot.

Although the hotel is nice, bright and clean with a comfortable bed, a medium-sized, one depth swimming pool and welcoming staff, there is no way it should be a 4 Star. More like a 2 star.

The reasons are:

1. No bar (despite there being one advertised on I Love Holidays.com website). The hotel needs to update travel agents and tour operators on a regular basis on what is or is not available at particular times or on a permanent basis**

2. Irregular opening hours regarding restaurant, i.e. no lunch service and sometimes it is not even open for dinner! One staff member even told me it is permanently closed! This is despite it being advertised as open permanently on I Love Holidays com (whom we booked through). We had to dine out a lot.**

3. There is no Laundry Service for visitors to use (despite being advertised on I Love Holidays.com).**

4. The maid service was generally good, but there were odd times when not all of the rubbish from our room was taken away. One, empty bottle of prosecco was left alongside a full bin and five, empty, plastic bottles. This is not what we had expected. Toilet rolls X 2 were needed to be topped up more frequently.

5. The 'hot breakfast' in the breakfast room was anything but hot. The boiled eggs were always over-boiled which left the yolk looking green. Not a nice look. The milk was not covered, either.

6. Not enough change appears to be kept behind the reception counter for water bottles to be purchased, vending machine, etc.

7. The area around the hotel is full of rubbish on the pavements, in the streets, overflowing bins, and graffiti. It really makes the area look shabby and it is a shame.

If I could give more of a 3 1/2 then I would, because in all honestly this hotel wasn’t the worst. Food was decent, though wasn’t a HUGE fan of the beans and the sausages, bacon and eggs tho were LOVELYY. Rest of the food was delicious and always did give me a great start to the day. Bed just comes with a bed sheet rather than duvet but when I asked at reception for one they sent a duvet up straight away so wasn’t missing out on much for that! Balcony was cute, was allowed to vape/smoke on it which was a nice touch for us smokers, not having to walk a mile just for a puff lol. The beds were a little hard, still slept decent though. Water pressure was great, tho the shower head couldn’t be moved as was broken

There are some main cons tho, only one plug socket out of the 3 in the room felt safe to use, the other two were coming out of the wall and when i took my adapter out i saw the socket almost rip off, didn’t feel entirely safe to use. The heating would NOT stay off, you would turn it off on the wall and after 3 minutes it would turn back on, was constantly on 27 degrees celsius. Last 2 nights we had to keep the balcony door open as that would stop the heating from turning on all together, which didn’t feel entirely safe but we made do. Toilet seat was coming off and it did look like there was mould in the bathroom, and the wallpaper by the bed was flaking off.
All this said though, we did travel in off season and it was more than obvious that the hotel was going through some renovations preparing for a busy summer, as there were decorators downstairs painting. They always started the work at a good time so no one would get woken up, can tell that the staff there DO care about their guests. I would come back, would be nice to see what the renovations turn out like!
Didn’t check out the pool as it is February and farrrr too cold!!
With the distance from the centre of Rome - if you didn’t check where the location of the hotel was before booking, then yeah I guess it’s an inconvenience, but that’s what you get in the price. The area is really NOT that rough, it’s quite a nice area with a Lidl and McDonalds not even a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. To get to the centre of Rome, google maps advised to take the metro from Torre Angela to San Giovanni, however we found it quicker (and safer - the Torre Angela metro station is very much in rough area) to get on the metro at Torre Gaia, just behind McDonalds. Well lit paths all the way back to the hotel and much more populated.
Overall, for me the most important bit about going on holiday is the things you do. We hardly spent much time in the hotel at all, so if you’re looking for a decent place to rest your head and have some good food in the mornings, I honestly think this place would be a good choice. It’s really not that bad. However, deffo not a 4 star hotel (maybe after the renovations it will be!) At the end of the day it’s a cheap and affordable hotel, and you get what you pay for.

Me and my partner visited this hotel and was horrified in minutes. Receptionist with red hair and glasses was very rude and unprocurable, seemed like the world was against her and everything was a chor (we only asked for a spoon) and with a look of terror got declined. The We asked to heat up our ready meals as nothing there was open basically like a ghost town with a coffee machine in plastic little shot cups for €0.50 😅 don’t get me started on the location, makes boys in a hood look like the ritz. The only reason I gave this hotel 1 Star is because the rooms was tidy and cleaned daily. Also because If I didn’t give the start I wouldn’t be able to to write this review. To add me and my partner chose to get a hostel as the hotel was ridiculously far from Rome and expensive when we arrived at the hostel It was straight away more welcoming with an iron, kettle and cutlery 😅 and the location was amazing close to everything. Moral of the story never stay at the hotel Roma tor Vergata or do your research. Who ever gave this hotel 4 stars deserves prison time at least 20 years.

Ps- the pictures are misleading.

We booked through love holidays and stayed a day we couldn’t stay in this hotel any longer it was in the middle of nowhere the surroundings are awful full of bins and rubbish all over the street which stinks! The pool is tiny and is like being in someone’s back garden with about 6 sunloungers. Staff were unhelpful we asked to speak to a supervisor several times and were told he would be there the following morning and he never showed still waiting for our city tax refund after being told this would be sorted numerous times. You can’t even get a coffee unless you want it out of a vending machine which doesn’t give you change avoid this place like the plague. The rooms are the only ok thing about this hotel but that is the only positive thing. Miles away from anything doesn’t even feel like you’re in rome

good news very good value, but at a price, despite only 10 mins walk from 2 Metros, it is three stops and well over an hour to central Rome. Local area is rough, but can't say dangerous. Rooms are clean, fridge didn't work and maid forgot 4 days running to replace sugar- admittedly little things. Avoid breakfast like the plague, have used Covid as an excuse to not provide a buffet, EU8 for an apple, croissant, tiny town cornflakes and a coffee. No bar, didn't bother finding if restaurant was open

We stayed here for 4 nights, I don't get why people are complaining. The area wasn't the best, pretty rundown, but with it being a base we weren't fussed. 10 minutes walk you'll find supermarkets, bakery, shopping centre, metro and plenty more. The staff were very accommodating when we checked in checked out etc. The rooms were clean, tidy and were of a good standard. We had food on the last day and it was amazing, they even cater for coeliacs which I was pleasantly surprised about, but it meant I was able to enjoy a gluten free carbonara which was insane! This hotel is a lovely little base for people wanting to explore Rome, and for the price, me and my partner are satisfied for sure. Would recommend to anyone.
The one thing I will mention if you are staying is the prices to and from the aiport, the hotel mentioned they charge €50 to the airport, we were able to find an app called FreeNow (like an uber service) and got the the airport for €25 which is half the price. Just to make things a little cheaper for you!!
Thanks again Hotel Roma Tor Vergata for a lovely stay!

Definately not to Best Western standards, Its not very close to central Rome and first impressions of the place reminds me of a block of flats surrounded by security fencing.
On a plus the hotel was clean and the reception staff are helpful.
Please dont use the restaurant, cold food poor selection. Breakfast was continental and they offer a good selection including a hot buffet of eggs and bacon ( unfortunately its only hot when it first arrives) Its stored in metal trays that are supposed to heat and they dont work.
The rooms are ok, clean and basic, They do supply tea and coffee but no milk.
Overall its a bed for the night and I slept ok.

Although the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the hotel brightly painted, inside is very tired. Definitely needs new hallway carpets.
Not as soundproof as I'd like.
My room didn't have a balcony, I thought all the rooms did so was disappointed. Although I noticed that none of the balconies had a seat on them.
No kettle in the room but when I asked, was given one. I had to 'borrow' a cup from the dining room. The cleaners took it so the next time I hid it.
The cleaners do an amazing job. The place was spotless.
The evening meals when I ate there, were delicious. Beware when asked if you'd like water ~ you will be charged for it.
Also the evening restaurant is closed on Sunday's.
Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The first two mornings everything was great but after that not so good. The butter ran out and I waited ten minutes for it to be replaced, the cups ran out many times, the cheese ran out numerous times, so did the bread. You were lucky if you got a teaspoon. Each time anyone asked for something we were told "arrivare" but still had to wait ages. Just simply walking into the kitchen to get more butter/cheese/cups/teaspoons/bread seemed impossible for them to do. The woman, who appeared to be the head waitress just replied impatiently 'arrivare.'
The man who seemed to be in charge appeared to be far more competent.
To access the swimming pool you need to walk round the front of the hotel even though there is a door directly from inside but it is blocked.
I would have liked a welcome pamphlet, something stating times of meals, restaurant not open Sunday's, etc.
Comfy bed, slept well.
Aircon was good and easy to turn up or down.
My shower was awful, it pointed straight out rather than down. It could only be successfully used by detaching it from the wall. Powerful jet on it though.
My stay was 'alright'

So it takes around 30-40 minutes, I can't remember how much it was but I think we paid €20-€30 for a week pass for transport. We just used Google Maps to help us get into the city centre

There is a kettle but only polystyrene cups and no milk is given. This is not a best Western anymore. So Not at that standard read my review before you book in a very run down part of Rome which takes a minute of 35 mins by metro to get to Rome. You have entered to walk 10 -15 mins through poor area. Hardly any tratorrias in area and bins full and overflowing all around area smells rancid. It's cheap for a reason.

We took a taxi which cost €80 as the hotel was outside the city and there was no direct transport and as our flight landed at night. But you may be able to take a bus to Termini station and then take metro to Anagnina and then bus again to Roma Tor vergata where the hotel is located.
