I stayed in Rome for 3 days. This place is in an excellent location. The building its self is beautiful. The rooms and the restrooms are very clean! I felt like I was at home here. The front desk had excellent English skills as well. but be careful if you want to get wild and crazy as they do have... More

The hostel is in a perfect location in the city. Well connected with almost every destination. The service is good, it's clean, food is delicious... and overall the stuff is understanding and helpful. It was actually my best choice for both long-term and short-term stay.

This hostel was only 31 euros. I had my own room with dresser, sink, towels, soap, bed, and night lamp. there was also a desk. The bathroom was just a few steps away. There were only women staying there. It felt very safe and homey. The staff was friendly and helpful. They included breakfast with the room. I would stay... More

I found this place in the lonely planet book and it was a great affordable find for the three of us. We payed such a great rate here and breakfast was included. The staff were so kind and helpful and even when my nephew became overexcited as it was his first Hostel stay, they were kind and even gave us... More

I was in Rome, alone, for one night and wanted to be close to Termini Station so that I could take the train to FCO early the next day. The YWCA was actually in a better part of the Termini area. I had a private room and bathroom, and felt the facilities were very run down, yet clean. There was... More

I've stayed here twice. First time was fabulous. I loved the market at the front door even though it did wake me up at 4 am. A bit of local colour. Second time (October 2012) I found It is getting tired - in need of an upgrade which I am told is about to start. My bed was as hard... More

We too really enjoyed the YWCA. If you're looking for a modern, air conditioned, full-amenity hotel, this is not the place for you. It is a peaceful, simple, affordable lodging on a quiet side street within walking distance of Termini. No phones, no t.v.'s, no wireless. A small plaque on the old facade is the only identifying marker and the... More

I was travelling alone with my little boy and I couldn't have found a safer, kinder place. The double room with attached bath at 40 EUR pp is a great price. Rooms have high ceilings, are spotlessly maintained and spacious compared to pokey Paris, where we were coming from. Breakfast is included and is a lovely spread of fruit, cereal,... More

Because my return trip was changed at the last minute, I was left w/ few options for an inexpensive stay in Rome. Then I read about the Y and decided to book. I was very pleasantly surprised. Don't expect any frills, but it is very clean, secure, and well run. Location is very close to Termini, but area seemed very... More

The service is friendly and I had no problems with anyone there. I had to share the shower and a freezer. Breakfast was included. The room is very high - ideal for hot summer nights - but there is only one window to let the sun in and so it's quite dark inside. You have one washbasin with a mirror... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
