Great location right across the street from St.Peter's Square. Very small room, breakfast is included but not a lot of variety. Went out to the rooftop for a drink and it has a great view as well as great service.

Clean, cozy and safe ! My family loved it! The location is a short walking distance to the metro, and to the hop-on-hop-off bus,..all through very safe areas. The hotel is immaculate and the staff couldn't be nicer. Everyone was warm; from the front desk, to the dining area and room cleaning crew. We felt like a guest to someone's...

If you want to be close to the Vatican, like SUPER close, this is a great hotel choice. It is literally right across from St. Peter's Square and there are great views of the Basilica from the rooftop terrace. It is also fairly centrally located to some of the other spots in Rome like Trastavere, Piazza del Poppolo, Trevi Fountain,...

My friend and I had planned to visit Rome for a few years. We booked our holiday through Love Holidays and were thrilled. This hotel is wonderful. It's in the Vatican City and overlooks St Peter's Square and Basilica. We had a small twin room which was spotlessly clean and well serviced each day. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Continental...

Beautiful, clean, quiet residenza with private bathroom and couple or family room. No breakfast but coffee machine. Do not go to caffe vaticano next door it's rip off, instead go to caffe paolo also down the street. Still pricey but a bit more affordable. All the team is well organized and helpful to make the experience perfect. We will be...

A truly enjoyable evening with a view on St Peter and the Square. The friendly staff and delicious pasta (with limited choice) make this a perfect location to relax after walking the Vatican. A reservation is highly recommended.

The rooms are small but clean and well appointed. Service attentive and terrace relaxing. The junior suite window orientation looked directly onto the street below and towards St Peter's Square. The hotel is in a building with other professional services so not dedicated entirely to lodging. Has more of a corporate feel rather than geared towards tourism, but the hotel...

Stayed here with three friends. The location was excellent - right next to St Peters Basilica and the Vatican. We really enjoyed our nightly pre-dinner cocktails and drinks just soaking in the fantastic views from the rooftop terrace. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the breakfast was good. The rooms were small (but nicely decorated and very clean) but...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights during our vacation in Rome and were very pleased with this establishment. The corner sweet was well adorned and the bathroom was beautifully modernized without loosing any classic European charm. The views from the corner sweet are simply breath-taking to see that St. Peter's Square is literally right across the street!...

Perfect location for Vatican trips and museums. Small room but nice. If you want to party or go wild, then this isn't the place for you. It was quiet and perfect for couples or older people. The most amazing views above Saint Peters Square.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Residenza Paolo VI, established on the premises of an Augustinian Monastery, was inaugurated at the beginning of the Holy Year 2000. The genius loci and the charm of tradition, still alive in its ancient walls, make this property your "private" haven in Rome, far away from chaos, in the pulsing heart of the Eternal City. Rome has many hotels, but only one of them is located directly on St. Peter's Square (Vatican): Residenza Paolo VI, the ideal place for those wishing to stay in the heart of Christendom, close to St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Grottoes, the Necropolis, St Peter's and Saint John Paul II's tombs, the Vatican Gardens and St. Angel's Castle. Walking along the Vatican Wall, it's easy to reach the Vatican Museums and visit the famous Sistine Chapel. Furthermore, some of our rooms offer special view of the Holy Office or of the internal courtyard of the ancient monastery or even of St. Peter's Dome. From our magnificent Terrace it is possible to admire up close St. Peter's Basilica and the Apostolic Palace, exactly where the Holy Father Pope Francis appears to bless the faithful and to recite the Sunday Angelus. ... more   less
