This was supposed to be a central hotel, it wasn't, it was a 20 minute walk to the metro, the colloseum was a 25 walk,it was located in a scruffy run down area, with graffiti all over the nearby walls. If you wanted the TV remote, you had to ask reception for it, if you wanted air con you had...

We expected worse after reading all these reviews, but the truth is that it wasn't so bad. The room was clean and nice, with terrace access so we could ventilate it. Also, they made our bed every day and changed the towels. Hotel is near the train station Termini, about a ten minute walk to the nearest Metro stop and...

It's ok for taking a shower and sleeping after a long walk in the city, but nothing more. The location is quite good if you want to walk in Rome, we didn't use any public transport and went even to the Vatican by foot. The staff was helpful. These are the only good things i can say about the hotel....

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 5 nights due to the low price giving us more money to spend on external activities, fantastic value for money however you pay by being in a very dirty part of the city, the air con stinks and to control it you need to go reception each time, it was more an upscale...

Dreaded going to this hotel after spending 3 nights in a lovely place in Sorrento. Having read the reviews I was so worried that it would not be a good place to take 37 14 year old kids. However... the building is a lovely old Italian one with a nice entrance and a large reception area. The rooms are ok...

The truth is that I thought this hotel would be worse. The most important thing for me, was that it should be clean. Luckily, both the room and the bathroom were clean and the furniture was not dated or old - fashioned. Only the blankets in the closet did not seem fresh. Generally, the room was pretty small and the...

The hotel looks nice only from inside. When you enter you will see that the only good thing is the stuff. The administrator is always very nice! When I entered the room, whichwas on the third floor, I was shocked! Dark room pained in sort of violet color, NO WINDOWS, smelling bad, and the bathroom was so uncomfortably, that you...

It's a cheap hotel near Termini station. It's in a little better area (Termini's immediate surrounding is quite terrible) The reception area was nice, the room was ok. The minibar was empty, but there were vending machines in the lobby. Bathroom was clean, but wear and tear was most visible there. No street noise coming through, but you can hear...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
