My second time in Rome, so I know a little about the prices and such. This hotel is actually a 2 star hotel, that is located in a 3 star area. The lobby was nice and clean with its antique furniture and marble finishing. The receptionist (older man) was polite, but know this: you have to pay the city tax...

Stayed here for six nights with my best friend, nice but smallish room, two single beds close together good size for two girls sharing. Good nice bathroom, room was cleaned everyday. Friendly staff, alright wifi in the reception only & basic breakfast. The location was brilliant 20-30 mins walk to the main sights. Lots public transport available. The area was...

Stayed hear for 3 nights, was apprehensive about staying hear after reading the reviews, saying terrible hotel, awful area. But was pleasantly surprised on arrival, staff where friendly and spoke good English, rooms where basic but okay (bathrooms had shower curtains) but perfectly okay for the amount of time you will be in there, breakfast was fine, small section of...

More cons than pros, absolutely the worst breakfast of anywhere we have stayed at in the world, very substandard. Poor choices and poor quality with absolutely no different choices at all during our stay, no fruit or yogurt on offer and poor substitute for fresh orange juice. The breakfast manager stood over the meagre offerings like he had paid for...

I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews, the staff were instantly helpful and friendly. Room was small, but I was there for one night and it was just a place to rest my head. Comfy bed, hot water, air conditioning. It's location to the main train station and access to metro was the main highlight. Everything I needed...

The reason I titled this 'worst hotel I've stayed in' is because it literally is. Myself and my boyfriend visited in September 2015, upon arrival we were asked to pay for city tax. I completely understand this, and have paid it in many other cities before. However, the gentleman at the reception tried to over charge us by at least...

Do not be fooled by the staircase on entering! Very pretty but that's the only decent part of the hotel. Upon arriving at reception, we were very rudely forced to pay our very expensive city tax upfront and not on leaving as we were told by British airways. We had 3 rooms on level 5 and used the old dodgy...

Took a while to write this review but finally got it done .We flew out to Rome on the 22nd of April arriving at the airport we were hustled by a taxi firm saying that they'd give us a direct taxi to our hotel for 40 euros as the train was apparently expensive, the same hustle worked on 2 other...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
