The Friendship Palace, which also goes by a lot of other names (e.g. Hotel Beautiful), is a horrible accomodation and not worth a cent. There are no positive points but the location and many negatives: - unfriendly staff, that tries to trick you out of your money and lies to your face. We had them order a taxi for the...

We booked this hotel at the very last minute, but it was the best decision we made! The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and spacious, especially the double room we stayed in. Personal bathroom and shower which were very hygienic and cleaned every day. The staff Gabriella and Andrea were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hot water, air conditioning, and...

It says that there's 24h reception, yet we arrived at 6 something and the receptionist wouldn't let us leave our bags until 8, just because he didn't want to get up. In any interaction with him, he acted unfriendly and wouldn't show will to in anything. When we checked out, he didn't let us leave our bags for the same...

Well located hostel close to Termini's train station and bus stops. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with enough space for luggage and other stuff. Bathrooms are clean and rooms have air/con and t.v. Miss Barbara is a lovely lady that is interested in providing a good service. However, don't trust on the "included brekky", it's just a small croissant and...

Tight room with hardly any leg room. Toilets are disgusting and floods easily (bad pipe drainage). Beware of massive patches of mould! Beautifully Italian with its window sills and views onto streets, but you'd notice how incredibly dusty the place is when the morning light shines through. The room definitely requires more cleaning and the bed sheets gave both me...

So first off, hotel friendship or whatever is the same thing as hotel beautiful. When you walk down the street you will not see a sign for hotel friendship, but only one for hotel beautiful. When you sign in, they will ask you though and we got located in the side of the hallway for friendship hotel. It was so...

We stayed at friendship place for one night as we had plans for the other nights in Rome, if we hadn't we definitely would have stayed for longer! We were greeted with a warm welcome from Andrea and made to feel at home, a bright airy room with AC was ready hours before the official check in. No complaints at...

I stayed here with 2 friends in July 2012. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we had a great time! This place is definitely geared toward young travelers, but I would most certainly recommend it to any of my friends visiting Rome. The elevator was a bit cramped and old, but the insides of the hotel were nice, air-conditioned, and...

Stayed here with 5 friends so had a six bed dorm to ourselves. Asked for extra bedding etc and it was no problem to the guys at reception-they were really friendly, and although you have to pay upfront they gave us a really good rate compared to other hostels around the area. The bathroom/shower is seperate from the rooms, but...

I would not recommend this place to anyone. We stayed at this place for 2 nights in May 2011 and unfortunately could not leave after the first night because we had to pay the full amount at check-in (we quickly knew why). The only positive is the location close to Termini. A first mild negative point are the stairs: rooms...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
