I wanted a hotel for our six day stay in Rome that was close to what we wanted to do, yet a place to relax after the long days. Palazzo Cardinal Cesi was the answer! Just walking through the front doors was the peace that I needed. The staff is amazing, the rooms were very comfortable, the location is perfect....

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary in Italy.I had always wanted to see the Pope up close. We needed to be at St. Peter's Basilica at 7:30 AM for our tour, which would get us as close as possible to see the Pope.Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is within steps of the Vatican.Once you open the huge doors and are out of busy Vatican city....

Well, you don't get to stay much closer to the Vatican unless you get an invite from the Pope. Turn left out of the front door and you're less than 100m from Piazza San Pietro. The hotel is a little unusual in that you enter up a few steps through the doors (which are locked after 19:00 with key entry)...

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful hotel at the end of June for three nights. Right from start to finish we knew it was a great choice. You really can't be any closer to St Basillica, just right on the door step. The hotel had organised our Papal assembly whilst we were there and over all nothing was...

This quint beautiful hotel, which use to be an old monastery is perfectly located next to the Vatican. The hotel is not large or grand it is very clean, secure and pleasant. The the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is really great. The rooms in general are small because it was a monastery, however we moved from our original room...

This small hotel was a wonderful respite very close to St. Peter's. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel staff was excellent. They helped us with everything from dinner suggestions and reservations to tours of the area. Breakfast was great with a wide assortment of food on the buffet. Will stay there again in a heartbeat. It is perfect...

Great location just walk out the front door and you are steps from the Vatican. Rooms are typical European size, quiet location, minibar, refrig, TV and Wi Fi connections throughout. Bathrooms are equipped with amenities including hair dryer, although the shower is tiny. We opted for included breakfast and this was more than we expected. Hot eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits,...

Your location at Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is bar none if you wish to visit Vatican City. Walk out the front doors to a beautiful view of Saint Peter's Basilica. The rooms and beds are comfortable but not excessive. The showers stay hot. The staff is friendly and multi-lingual. The food is good. The environment is homey. If you can afford...

This is a beautiful place we have had several special requests and they have all been immediately addressed with professional curtesy. Nothing we have asked for has been denied or met with a bad attitude. The bathroom in our room is very small but who needs a large bathroom on vacation. They have a breakfast buffet with a large variety...

We stayed here as a family due to proximity to Vatican and St. Peter's. As others have noted, rooms and bathrooms are very small but clean and the building itself is historically interesting and beautiful interior. We did have an issue with one of our rooms having no A/C so it was very uncomfortably hot. When we notified the front...

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
