Neighbourhood
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Isabella was very welcoming after a long flight to Rome. She was very accommodating, helpful and friendly. The small elevator to the fifth floor was quaint, the room was clean and spacious. She served breakfast to our room at a prearranged time which started the days well.

We stayed for a weekend in May. Be aware that this is a B&B in a private house in the fifth floor (with tiny elevator) and NOT a hotel! Bathroom is separate and not in the room. Keep your cell phone ready as the doorbell didnt work as we arrived late in the evening. Owner is

The private bathroom was internal to the family room. No separate key was required.

We had a room that had an 'external bath'. What this means is that our private bath was across the hall from our room. No one else used it, but we had to exit our room and cross a common area to get to it.
