I booked the Small Double for one night in Rome because it was cheap, very close to Termini and because it looked like a "small double bed" meant it wouldn't be two singles. When I arrived I was given a room at the place down the road which looked nothing like the picture on booking.con (where I'd booked it) and...

We picked this hotel because it was close proximity to Rome centrale station, the rooms were of reasonable size and clean, there were stairs so please note this if you have a lot of luggage and the staff were friendly and the price was reasonable for the standard that was presented. It can be a little hard to find though as...

Our stay in Hotel Halifax was great. The staff was very friendly and Concetta and Claudio were wonderful. They even prepared breakfast for us early one morning when we checked out at 4am to catch the train to Ancona. The location was perfect. From buses to trains to taxis, its all right there. The room and bathroom was very clean...

We first booked the room at Hotel Viennese and was directed to this on arrival, saying that they were full! Hotel Halifax was around the corner, on the 3rd floor. Rooms are small and the bathrooms are horrible after shower, the water will stay and flood the bathroom. Poor TV connection and no WIFI in rooms at all even they...

The hotel was situated on the 3rd floor of the building it is located at. It is also owned by the people that run the Hotel mirage. When we arrived, we luckily knew a little Italian and could decipherer of its whereabouts (piano is 'Floor" in Italian, by the way!) We climbed the stairs, buzzed in and was eventually greeted...

The hotel's two star rating is a joke. It should be a zero star hotel. From the time we walked through the dirty, grimy door and walked up three flights of dirty, dark stairs, you feel like you need a shower. The manager is up the street (there is no lobby as such). and just getting back to your room...

reading the comment I was afraid of what we might find for the Hotel. I won't talk about the 2 hotel thing because a lot of review talks about this... the elevator is not such a big deal because if you are used to travel in Old Europe in budget Hotel, few of them have elevator. The location fo the...

Great location, close proximity to tourist sites. The reception area is small and away from the rest of the hotel. The rooms are extremely tiny and dirty with hairs all over the floor and bathroom. The noise from the traffic was loud and hard to sleep. The linen was dirty and consequently received bed bug bites all over the face...

Room was up 4 floors from street. No elevator. Good low budget travel hotel near Central Station. Room was decent size and had good bathroom. Service low. Gave me 1 towel. Bathroom had no shower mat/rug. Shower head was loose and water went all over floor, but managed to screw back shower head. For 45 euros per night 2 days,...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
