Detailed Reviews
Me and my partner had a wonderful stay at The Best Pantheon in Rome, it exceeded all of our expectations. To access the B&B you need to have internet as the doors to the main entrance of the building and to the entrance of the B&B can only be accessed through wi-fi but once you are inside your room there are codes for both of the doors. We had an excellent breakfast which you can choose what you would like to eat and drink by ticking what you would like on the menu that they provide for you and then leave it on the door handle of your room outside. The room was a great size for the 2 of us, there is a mini fridge which is free for guests plus chocolates and fruit. The bathroom has free toiletries and the room was cleaned each day. the B&B was in superb location for all main attractions such as The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps as well as great restaurants and bus stations. Elena was a great host and she was always helpful when answering any questions or queries we may of had to ask. We would definitely recommend this beautiful B&B and will most likely be returning.

We stayed in this B&B for work reasons and we didn't think we would find such a splendid structure with a very comfortable and spotless room starting from the mattress (which is not for everyone) and also the convenience of the very luxurious and comfortable bathroom. The breakfast in the room exceeded our expectations: plentiful and complete with any request.
Very easy to reach by public transport and right in the centre.
The kindness and helpfulness of the staff should also not be underestimated.
Highly recommended.

The bed and breakfast is beautiful, with attention to detail, with really cute paintings and furnishings in every corner of the hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly, always available, generous in every situation for everything. Simply incredible breakfast with delicious croissants and many other delights including the fantastic room service that pampers all customers; not to mention the totally free minibar and this is something that is a memorable and not dissatisfied gesture also because in all other hotels they always charge for it. Fabulous cleanliness, the beds so comfortable, the position that allows you to have a unique view.

I stayed at the Best B&B Pantheon for 3 nights in September. Although they still had a few things to get finshed, I'd highly reccomend this place.
The location is fantastic. It's about 200metres to the Pantheon. You can walk to the vatican in 1 direction in 25 minutes, and to the Collesseum in 25 minutes in the other direction. There is a taxi stand about 25 metres away, a grocery and a pharmacy just accross the street. The area seemed safe and well lit at night. You always hear about pickpockets in Rome but if you're careful with your belongings, you should be fine.
As the place just opened, there was no buzzer yet for the Best B&B but if you go in through the main doors, it's the staircase on your left and you go up one flight, down a corridor and then up another half flight and it's on your left. Usually Rodolfo, the owner, or Carlo, the Manager will have arranged to be there to greet you and they are always reachable by phone but there is no one onsite all the time.
I had a deluxe room which was very spacious with a Queen size bed (US Queen, European King), 42" plasma TV, DVD/CD player (the lobby has a small selection of DVDs that you can borrow) and surround sound speakers. There was no internet access yet in the rooms and no internet in the lobby (like the Best B&B Vatican) but they were considering getting internet in the rooms that could be used through the TV. There was also no phone in the room but they were expecting phones to be installed by early October (there was a phone in the lobby that I used and it was free for local calls). The Air conditioning unit was quiet and efficient and kept the room cool. There was also a minibar with soft drinks, water and beer. Everything is 1 Euro, so very reasonable.
My room faced busy Corso Vittorio Emmanuele II, which is on a bus route and I'm a very light sleeper. However, there is triple paned glass on the windows and I found the room quiet but you could hear some outside noise. As I find with most B&Bs, you hear more noise from the corridor, when other guests leave their rooms or when the breakfast is being made in the morning. I couldn't hear anything from the other guests in their rooms as the walls are thick.
The bathroom in the deluxe room was wonderful with a large 2 person bath/shower, and a separate bidet and toilet. I believe the regular rooms have a large shower and a combined toilet/bidet. The towels were plentiful and were so soft that they almost seemed like a shammy. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was included in room between 8-10am every day and it was a great start to the day. You get to choose a few items, and a few items are fixed. You make your choices on a card and leave it outside your door at night. The same person who brings breakfast also makes up the room so unless you don't want your room made up, you'd leave your room between 10-12.
The door system is a little strange. You have a front door key for the B&B, a smaller key for the main building doors (which are closed at night) but no room key. They have electronic keypad locks to the rooms. You punch in your code to unlock the door and more importantly, you must punch in your code to lock the door from the outside, when you leave. It takes a couple of times to get it but it does work.
Rodolfo and Carlo were both very helpful. Rodolfo responded to my many emails beforehand. Carlo spent at least 30 minutes with me showing me the B&B features, reccomending restaurants and nightlife. They have arranged a discount at a local restaurant as well. He also arranged a limo taxi to take me to the airport which was quick and efficient. The rate was 45 Euros but if you arrange beforehand for both directions, you pay 85 Euros.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again. It's a great value for Rome. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff. The rooms are clean, they are modern and you can't beat the location.

We stayed at Best B&B Pantheon for 7 nights, from November 18th to 24th, and paid €110 per night for a standard double room. All email correspondence with Rodolfo prior to our stay was prompt, courteous and friendly, and boded well for the actual stay. We weren’t disappointed!
We notified Rodolfo that our arrival would be around 1pm, but we actually arrived just before 11.30am, and the concierge of the building let us in, and pointed us upstairs in the direction of the BB&B apartment, which is to the front of the building on the first floor. Ramona, the housekeeper, came down to greet us and helped us to carry our luggage up the 25 or so stairs to the first floor. She’s a slight little thing, but she didn’t hesitate to lug one of our heavy suitcases upstairs! There is a lift to the building but we never used it – but I assume we could have used it if we’d needed to.
Ramona the housekeeper/cook is lovely! When I tried out my Italian on her she was delighted, and all week she tried hard to meet me halfway in the communications arena. Her English is limited, but all communications were accompanied by a wide smile on both sides, and we got along famously. Even though we were 90 minutes early, our room was already ready – spotless and beautifully prepared. We chucked in our suitcases, then raced out to visit the Pantheon, before returning at 1pm to meet Emanuele and get the payment side of things sorted out. He gave us some handy tips for restaurants off the tourist track, and told us all we’d need to know about the room during our week’s stay (the honour system re the minibar, the breakfast hours and routine, how to access the internet etc.) Oh, and he told us how the TV and DVD worked, but when we had a little practise on our own we couldn’t get the satellite system to work, and that was the only drawback of not having anyone on site to call on. As it was we weren’t bothered about not watching TV (we’d only switched it on to see what a 42” screen looked like!), but this lack of on-site support may be something to bear in mind as Ramona’s English was probably not up to the task of explaining what we were doing wrong with the remote controls!
Other reviewers have described the key system so I won’t cover old ground – suffice it to say that we had no difficulty accessing either the building, the apartment or our individual room at any time – the system worked perfectly. And the little mini-safe is an added bonus – it was big enough for passports, cash, a little jewellery and even a small camera.
The in-room phones were connected and local calls are free of charge – great for when booking restaurants or meeting up with local friends. There was also a card phone for international calls, which we could have bought for €5, but we had no need of that as we had our mobiles with us. A nice touch, though. As the previous reviewer said, they also provide a free pair of slippers for every guest, and the little mini bar is well stocked with a selection of drinks at reasonable prices (and the bottled water is free).
The internet was connected in the hallway, and though the laptop was antiquated it worked adequately for the small amount of surfing we needed to do.
We had a front facing room, and with the windows open there was a lot of traffic noise from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, but we expected this in advance and didn’t mind it at all. With the windows shut you could hardly hear the traffic at all, and the air conditioning worked perfectly and was nice and quiet. But there was a nice breeze through the big floor-to-ceiling window, and it’s worth putting up with a bit of traffic noise every now and then to get some fresh air.
The bed is large (at least queen size) and comfortable. A proper headboard would have been nice so that we could sit up in bed and eat breakfast, but now we’re just being fussy! On the subject of breakfast, it’s served from 8am until 10am and arrived promptly at the time we specified each morning. There was a great array of food (3 types of cereal, toast, croissants, cake, cold meat and cheeses, yoghurts, fresh and dried fruit, cookies and biscotti) and each morning it hardly looked as if we’d made a dent in this handsome spread. We could have ordered eggs too, but never felt the need to. It’s a fabulous breakfast!
The location of this B&B is superb. We’d checked out the location when we were in Rome in July, and it was exactly where we wanted to be. It is LITERALLY a 3 minutes walk from the Pantheon, and on the Pantheon side of the Corso Vittorio Emanule, so you don’t have to risk death by mad Italian driver every morning to walk to the Pantheon area! It’s within easy walking distance of the forum/Colosseum in one direction and Trastavere/the Vatican in the other direction, but there are also bus and tram stops just outside at Largo Argentina that connect you with every part of the city if you don’t feel like walking.
There was only one thing we didn’t like about the BB&B, and that was the towels, which look great (fluffy and nicely monogrammed with the BB&B logo) but which simply don’t absorb water. But that’s such a small niggle that it’s hardly worth mentioning. The shower was powerful, with sufficient hot water (though the water later in the day is significantly hotter than in the morning - scalding hot in fact - so you may want to bear that in mind if you’ve cranked up the temperature a bit for your morning shower and then take another before dinner. Wind the temperature down a bit before you step under the water!!)
When we checked out at 10am on our last day, we were able to leave our suitcases in a cupboard in the hallway, which was perfect as our flight didn’t leave until 8.30pm. We simply let ourselves into the apartment with a specially provided set of outdoor keys, and then left these behind for Ramona when we collected our suitcases on final departure. There is a taxi rank about 100 metres from the hotel at Largo Argentina so we simply wheeled our suitcases across the road to there rather than rely on booking a taxi in advance (and the fare from there to termini was only €5.30).
In summary, the rooms are exactly as pictured on their website, the location is fabulous, the breakfast is excellent, and we’re really glad we’re staying here again in September 2007. In fact, we liked it so much that we’re returning with the in-laws and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this as a base for an independent traveller. If you’re NOT independent, though, and prefer the convenience of having staff on hand 24/7 then this probably isn’t the place for you.

We stayed at Best Pantheon on November 9 and again for another 3 nights, Nov 22 to 25/06. When we booked online, the original price was 130 Euros for the 9th and 110 euros/night for the other three nights. I inquired about the price difference and Rodolfo promptly emailed me and asid that they would charge me only 110 euros/night for all four nights.
On Nov 9th we arrived at the B&B around 4 pm and were met by Emanuele, who was waiting outside the front door. (We had a private transfer and our driver phoned ahead to let Best Pantheon know we were enroute.) Emanuele took us to our room, which was a regular double with windows facing the street. There is a walk up of about a flight and a half of stairs to get to the Best B&B entrance. If you have a lot of bags or have mobility problems, this might be somtheing to take into consideration.
Emanuele did the paperwork for check-in, took our payment and explained the key/locking system they have in place: 3 keys - one for the safe, one for the main outside door to the street, and one for the entry to the B&B group of rooms.
As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the entry to your individual room is controlled by an electronic key touchpad code. We had a bit of difficulty at first because we couldn't quite follow Emanuele's instructions, but once we got it, it was very simple. A tip: After you enter the code, turn the knob 'once', only; towards the door frame to lock; and away from the door frame to open, just like an actual key.
The in-room phones were connected and local calls are free of charge. There was also a Long Distance calling card available for purchase at 5 Euros. They provide complimentary, disposable slippers - sturdy enough to last your stay. There is also a mini-bar stocked with juices, water, soda and wine; and a basket of assorted crackers and munchies. We didn't take advantage of these, but the prices seem very reasonable. The bottled mineral water is free. They have an honour system whereby if you buy anything, you just put the payment in a little basket.. It's a nice touch and I hope they don't get burned by the greedy!
The internet was not yet connected., but Emanuele assured us it would be available by the time we came back on our next stay.
On our stay for Nov 22 to 25th, we arrived early (about 10:45 a.m.). Normal check-in is 3pm, but we were told via email that it would be no trouble to arrive early and store our luggage. However, Ramona already had our room prepared and let us in right away. She called the manager, Carlo to let him know we'd arrived and he called us back within minutes to welcome us and arrange an "appointment" for when Emanuele could come by to do the paperwork and receive payment.
This time, we got one of the back-facing rooms. This room had no view, just a small deck that looks at the back of the surrounding buildings. It didn't bother us since we weren't in the room much during the day anyways.
By this time, they had the internet connected in the main hallway. It's an older IBM laptop Thinkpad, but it works. The keyboard gets a little getting used to if you're accustomed to the North American standard keyboard layout. The prompts are in Italian, but they're mostly self-evident if you're a regular computer user.
Breakfast is served promptly at the time you specify on the order card. There is more than enough food for two and we ended up saving some of the fruit and cookies to take along on our travels for the day. Breakfast is served by Ramona who is both the cook and housekeeper. The word that comes to mind in describing Ramona is "sweet". Her English is quite limited, but she does everything with a smile and cheery "okay!". She was delighted when I tried my limited Italian on her and it made my day when she actually understood what I was trying to say. On the last day, we had an early morning flight and she left us some extra fruit, biscotti and cookies to take with us.
The location of this B&B is superb. It's centrally located and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. We had arranged a tour that started at 9 a.m. at St. Peter's Square and were worried that it would be a rush to have breakfast and get there in time for the tour. Emanuele reassured us that we should have no trouble getting there in 25 - 30 mins. We had a "slightly" rushed breakfast, left the B&B just after 8:30.and got to St. Peter's in a brisk 20 minute walk (probably a 30-minute leisurely stroll). As for other sights, the Pantheon is literally around the corner, Piazza Navona only a bit further and it's an easy walk to the Colisseum, Forum, and Trevi Fountain. Even the Spanish Steps is an easy stroll away
For those who like to orient themselves to a city before arrival by looking at maps, it's good to know that Best Pantheon is located on the NORTH side of C. Vittorio Emanuele II.
Overall, the rooms are exactly as pictured on their website, the location is great, the breakfast is good and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It's a good choice for the more independant traveller who doesn't need the services of staffing onsite.

We stayed 3 nights here in September for our Rome visit.
Had heard good things about he sister b&b in Rome.
We were given directions on how to get there which was not far from Termi station ( 4 stops away on the bus we needed). Got of the bus and walked around trying to find it.
Walked up and around the street a couple of times. Finally found it ( it is in a door way of other places) had walked passed it a couple of time without noticing.
We got there earlier and were met by the housekeeper who didn't know English but was very helpful and showed us to our room and how to work the doors.
THe bedroom doors have a keypad system to lock and unlock with a code. The main door has a key to unlock to get to the steeps.
The room was bigger than our Paris accommodation and very easy to move around in.
We looked out onto the main street which was noisey but even more noise if you opened up the doors. If you come to a big city you expect noise so didn't bother us.
THe room had air con which was great, big tv and mini bar which was good.
The room had no phone ( could you the one in the foyer, or internet which we were relying on for contact back home, the room had a hair dryer and an iron). The iron however wouldn't fit into any of the power points as the prongs on the iron were to fat.
The breakfast was lovely and good quality and quanity. It was available in room fro 8.00am to 10.00 am.
The room was cleaned daily which was an added bonus as well as the towels changed daily.
the location is very central and the bus stop just down the road.

We stayed at Best Pantheon in early Sept. We are one of the first customers staying at Best B&B at Pantheon location. When we arrived, our room was not completely finished. We didn't have phone and hair dryer when we stayed there. However, it didn't bother us too much because the host, Carlo, really made us feel like at home. He was really helpful and friendly. The owner, Rodolfo, was really helpful too. We never met him personally. But, we had contacted him several time thru email. He always responded very quick and also helped us to arrange private transfer to the hotel when we arrived.
The room is not very big, but it is clean and comfortable. We love the king size bed and down comforter. After we left Rome and continued our Italy trip to other cities, we missed their bed and down comforter so much.
The location is great!!! Less than 5 min walk to Pantheon, about 15 to 20 min walk to Trevi fountain and Colosseum. We were suprised how convenient the location is!! So, if you are looking for a place to stay, I would recommend best Pantheon.
