This was a convent and is still run by the Carmelite Sisters and seems to operate as a B&B. My single room, sparsely furnished was perfectly adequate and spotless. There was 24 hour door service so I was free to come and go. The house was beautifully silent during the night and plenty of hot water in the morning. Coffee... More

We wanted somewhere close to the Stadio Olympico for the Rugby and booked in for two nights. (The walk back from the Stadium is quite a climb but still only took us twenty minutes.) First impression is one of controlled austerity as you approach via the camera controlled electronic gates and proceed up the steps to the security door to... More

We stumbled across Suore Carmelitane when we were looking for a somewhere to stay within walking distance of the Rome Olympic stadium. What a find! It's a peaceful oasis of calm in one of Europe's busiest cities. Our twin-bedded room was simply furnished. The adjoining bathroom had an over-bath shower with no screen or curtain but not a problem if... More

My husband and I took a room here on recommendation from our priest friend who also stayed here. It is clean, simple, pleasant and quiet. We went to Mass with the sisters every morning that we could and it was a beautiful Mass. The hotel was not in the middle of tourist attractions and that is what we wanted. We caught... More

I found Suore Carmelitane - Villa Montemario's website by accident whilst trying to search for a suggested Religious Institution mentioned on a tv program titled Europe on a Budget. As soon as I saw it I thought yep, that's where I want to stay. I then tried to research the hotel but was unable to find any reviews on it... More
