A 10 minute walk from Manzoni metro takes you to the apartment. It is situated in a complex on the first floor. The complex is surrounded by a gate, so you can only access the buildings with a key. The reception is not staffed, you will receive an email from the owner with instructions to enter. The room is clean...

Checking in was a challenge as our taxi driver struggled to find the building and then we couldn't get through the security gate. Thankfully an extremely nice local let us in and found somebody to check us in. Once we had keys we were off! The rooms are about 10/15 minutes walk from the Colosseum and they are surrounded by...

The rooms are rather basic but provide everything you need: good beds, good and clean bathroom, free wifi and even a (small) fridge. The staff is extremely helpful and will answer all the questions you might have. The rooms are located within a closed compound which makes it a very safe environment. The location is also wonderful, especially if your...

We had a great stay at this hotel. Very nice room in a historic building (we were told it was built in the 9th century), polite and helpful staff, great location (two metro stations away from Termini). Alessya was very kind and gave us the map (because this neighborhood is not reflected on regular maps) and public transport instructions. Great...

The property is located in a secure, gated compound. It was in a safe neighborhood. We were given five keys, one for our room, one for the door to the hotel, one for the door to the building, and two for the gates. The hotel is near the tram and train stations. Also near the Colosseum. Our triple room was...

The b&b served as a good base - 30 mins walk to the colosseum and a 15 min walk to the Manzoni metro line. There's a lovely restaurant over the road and a nice pizza bar round the corner too. I didn't realise that the owners do not live on site - they live in the next building block within...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
