Ok, I admit we stayed here because Rick Stein did. However, I don't blame him (or more probably his researchers). The location is brilliant: slap bang in the city centre but not in a particularly noisy area. We stayed in a luxury room which wasn't overly large but had a very comfortable bed and interestingly no bath, but rather a...

Unusually for us we stayed in a hotel for a week. Superb location just round the corner from the Due Torri. The room was small but very comfortable. The highlight was the quality of the staff. Without exception they were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We stayed one night here en route to Venice. I'd have been happy to stay much longer; the hotel & our room is tastefully furnished & comfortable, bed was super comfy & a banquet style breakfast offered (in comparison to other accommodations during our stay in Italy). Staff were helpful & friendly. Our first accommodation which offered room tea/coffee facilities...

Spent two nights here. Very comfortable and the staff were excellent. I had made a mistake about the date of the booking but they handled this without fuss and without any additional cost. Very central. Thoroughly recommend

Two days in Bologna, hotel is in the old city everything is walkable. Don't drive in take a cab. Streets are narrow ancient and tough to remember, have a map at all times. The hotel is very nice. High 4 rating. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Best I've seen in Italy. There is a nice elagance to the place....

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 days while traveling to Bologna and Modena, and had a fantastic experience. The hotel is beautiful and the happy hour and breakfast options were great. It is in a convenient location (great restaurants around, a minute from the main piazza, and a 10 min walk from the train). Overall, I would give...

Really warm and friendly welcome from all staff. They are all so helpful, nothing is too much trouble and they are a credit to the hotel. Room was just lovely, with a little balcony with table and chairs on to have wine in the evening. Bathrooms are very spacious, with plenty of toiletries and a real hairdryer! Everything is spotlessly...

Dear Lynn, Thank you for addressing us such a kind review. Your appreciation of our “warm staff” and our “lovely rooms” delights us very much: it was a pleasure to offer to you a “spacious bathroom” and a “comfortable bar area” providing a “good breakfast” and the “buffet”. We are happy as well to have satisfied your “cleaning expectations”. Looking...

This place is very well located, just minutes from the Piazza Maggiore and the Due Torre. Rooms are good for such a location and very reasonable. But what makes you smile is the staff, all of whom are so friendly and helpful. They helped with everything and anything. It's a winning combination and not so easy to find.

Arrival you note the beautiful lobby and dining halls. The front desk people are so attentive and speak good English. My room was a single and very cheap $100ish but still the smallish room did surprise me. With no view out the window, I decided to spend most my time touring Bologna by foot. With Google maps you can see...

Dear Schonwiederagain, thank you for your review. We are pleased that you appreciated our “quiet and all over comfortable rooms”, even though they seemed to be “not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just a short distance from the two Towers and Piazza Maggiore, in the serene setting of medieval Bologna, you will find the Hotel Corona d'Oro 1890. Its peaceful location, just a hundred meters from the two towers, is the perfect base for your visit to Bologna: its elegant furnishings and magnificent frescoes, together with a staff that is exceptionally attentive to your needs, will make your stay at our Hotel unforgettable. The palazzo, which in the 15th century was the prestigious residence of the noble Azzoguidi family, traces its origins to the 13th century. The hotel takes the visitor on a journey through various stylistic and architectural eras: from the magical art deco in the lobby, back to the frescoes of coats of arms and landscapes from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and back still further to the medieval severity of the coffered ceilings which adorn the Azzoguidi conference hall and the stately portico outside. The thoroughly renovated Hotel Corona d'Oro provides upscale amenities that ensure a luxurious and comfortable stay, fitting for even the most discerning of guests. It also offers first-class suites and spaces for conferences, meetings, and exhibitions, all of which feature independent access. ... more   less
