Location is really great, virtually a couple of steps brings you to the main square; two towers are maybe 5 mins away. Breakfast is a standard Italian fare - some cakes and fruit (be aware that although some reservation sites do not mention this, it's always included in the price of your stay). Some people might find strange that the bathroom is shared, but since it's actually three bathrooms they are never full, always available and very, very clean. Room equipment is more basic than luxurious but generally it's very pleasant accommodation.

This hotel was a delight- a fantastic location and very good price. Very homely and nice old style. We were offered a choice of air con room or a fan with a larger room for the same price and happily went for the very large room (no 3) with a fan (nicer than air con we think) with a wonderful view looking over a roof garden. Our room had a shared bathroom down the corridor but frankly I'm happy to save a little and it was no problem- always very clean and we never needed to wait to use it (there are three toilets). The self service breakfast was a very welcome and unexpected plus (not specified in the booking description). Staff very helpful too- kindly put out wine and some food in the fridge to cool.

I am quite critical about hotels, and stay in many bland chain ones with my work, so it is unusual that I will be so positive and am writing this to encourage their business which has taken a big hit with Covid. that It was so nice we rearranged our plans to keep staying there for four nights (instead on just one) and used Bologna as a base for day trips. Bologna is GREAT btw.

We stayed here as a large family over New Year’s Eve.
The rooms were generous and even though we had a shared bathroom, it suited us as we knew the others sharing it with us.
Nice simple breakfast.

Location was excellent as you can drop back if you ever get sick of eating!

Would recommend.

Centrally located hotel run by some friendly Chinese folks. Situated on the top floor of an old building. There's a small lift. Feels more like an old communal flat, than a hotel. About 10 rooms, 3 shared bathrooms. Everything is very old. Everything was clean and well maintained though. Triple room was very spacious. There was no wait for the bathrooms and they provide you with a hairdryer if you ask. Shampoo was in the single use packets, so recommend bringing your own. Breakfast was actually nice - only bad thing was the coffee from the coin machine (free for breakfeast), but pastries were fresh and of a good quality.

The place had everything you would need. The only issue if any was the shared bathrooms. There was three bathrooms for the ten units. Wasn't an issue for us. Near loads of attractions within walking distance. The rooms were kept clean and the staff was very nice.

I'd recommend

Friendly staff and nice location. Would not want to have to park car here. We had large room with private bathroom. Breakfast was not what I was expecting but this is Italy. Mostly just pastries and juice. We would stay here again.

This hotel is really central- just minutes away from the main square, and about 15-20 minutes walk from the main train and bus stations (a taxi for two to the hotel either station is about 8 euro). Our room was very clean and spacious- we were on the second floor of the building, with the main reception of the hotel on the 4th floor. The lady who checked us in didn't speak any English, the fact that we spoke no Italian didn't deter her in the slightest as she showed us around speaking in very deliberate Italian, repeating the really important bits for emphasis. I still have no idea what she said.

The view from our room was unremarkable - it fronted onto Ugo Bassi, a very busy and noisy thoroughfare (at about 4am on our first night I swore there were freight trains out there) but you do get used to this noise very quickly. The hotel itself was usually quiet enough at night time, though this would depend completely on the guests staying in the rooms on your floor. Be warned that the walls are pretty thin- on one night the sounds from the room next to us were hilariously pornographic.

Breakfast is left in your room everyday- cartons of juice, bottles of water, a little fruit and some fairly uninspiring packaged pastries. None of the rooms were ensuite, however we had our own lockable bathroom just around the corner- scrupiously clean and quite large.

Overall I'd recommend the hotel as a good base to explore Bologna from- its a very reasonable price for comfortable, clean accomodation. The location is great, and even if you can't get used to the roaring Ugo Bassi outside, the farmacia just down the street sells effective earplugs!

A friend and I booked 3 nights at the Hotel Panorama as we were looking for somewhere cheap but central - not always easy to find in Bologna. We were travelling very much on a budget (I'm a student), and to be honest all we were really hoping for was comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. We paid 70 euros a night for a twin room (that's not per person, it's per room).

The hotel is on the 4th floor of a palazzo just off Via Ugo Bassi, very close to Piazza Maggiore and very near the bus stop for the station (and I think the bus stop for Bologna airport, although we flew into Forli' so I'm not sure). You have to buzz on the intercom to be let in to the building when you first arrive but after that they give you an electronic keycard thing to let yourself in. There's an old-fashioned lift up to the 4th floor - I'm not a big fan of lifts, but it's a long way up the stairs otherwise!

The staff were very friendly and very helpful, although I'm not sure if they spoke English or not. It didn't matter to us as I speak Italian and I'm sure if there were any communication problems you'd be able to work things out with gestures etc.! Our room was a perfectly reasonable size, very clean, with a sink and enough wardrobe / drawer space. Beds were very comfortable but quite narrow (that's quite usual in budget hotels in Italy, I've found), towels provided were big enough to wrap round you (a pleasant surprise!) but quite thin, although they did the job well enough! The room also had a TV and what I think was an air con unit, which we didn't use as it wasn't really necessary. The view from our room was nice, it overlooked the hills to the south over the typical red rooftops. And it was perfectly quiet.

The bathrooms were down the end of the corridor - there were three of them, all very clean. They all had a shower, which worked well - enough power, temperature control worked, etc. - a sink, a toilet and, of course, a bidet, and the biggest bathroom had a bath too. One morning there was no hot water and when I went to tell the woman at reception she was very apologetic - apparently the water heater had inexplicably turned itself off. She said that hadn't happened in the ten years she'd worked there. But we only had to wait 15 minutes for it to heat up again so it really wasn't a problem.

On the first morning we'd prepared ourselves to head out for breakfast (the website hadn't mentioned it, nor had it been mentioned in any of the emails we'd exchanged when I'd booked it, so we assumed it wasn't included). But at reception there were jugs of fruit juice and plates of croissants and cakes, etc (one of which was delicious homemade apple cake), all included in the price. Fab! :)

I found this hotel through someone on tripadvisor that said it was charming. Somewhere I read it has "great views if you crane your neck". Well, one true: charming, but the great view - no neck-craning needed! I had a terrific view from my bed even! Over rooftops and to a church. I loved Bologna and the Panorama was terrific. Clean huge room. The shared bathrooms are huge and clean too. The staff was friendly and helpful and most spoke English. Terrific place and fantastic city.

I have travelled a lot in Italy, and I have written many reviews, but this one has been very difficult. It will be in two parts, because we stayed there two different days in the same week.

This is the review for the night of May 16, 2014

First, I want to say that over all, I would have given it a 10.
We were in room 3 on this visit, overlooking a small courtyard,
and was fairly quiet. It was a very large room and there was a sink in the room, and plenty of large fluffy towels. The room was very clean as were the three bathrooms. The process for adding a night went very well, and they were most helpful. There is a lift, there was a lot of hot water, and good water
pressure. There were plugs by the heads of both of the beds. Breakfast was adequate, a typical sweet Italian breakfast, and the coffee, although
from a machine was very good.

So why did I not give it a 10? While my adult son and I were
waiting for a train at the station after check-out, we noticed some red 2mm raised bumps on hisarm, and I had one over my eye. His were in a straight line, and
in series of three. I have been in medicine for 40 years, and these were SUGGESTIVE, I repeat suggestive, of bed bugs. I emailed the hotel and notified
them of this, and suggested they check the mattress. We still had our reservation for two days later, and fully intended to keep them. As I said, I felt they should have the information, and to simply check.

I received an email back explaining the hygiene process they went through,
that others had not had any problem. They also said that people had
slept there after us and had not reported any problem. (Keep in mind
that we had just left the hotel 30 minutes prior to my email to them,
so I doubt anyone had slept in the room after us). I realize that there
can also be a delay in the appearance of the bites, but my intention was to
give them the information.

All I wanted was for them to check the mattress, both for their guests,
and for their own protection. I generally check the mattresses when we
check in, but I had neglected to do it this time. I would have been satisfied if they had said, they had checked, and they did not see any evidence of infestationn.

This is the review of the second day of our stay on May 19, 2014.

When we arrived at the hotel, the blond woman at the desk checked us in.
She then brought up the issue of my email to them about the bites. I had not intended to bring it up since we were staying there anyway. When
we tried to show them to her, she cut me off with the information that
they had to be allergies, because she had looked on the internet and
they weren't bed bug bites. She actually said "since the internet said it, it had to be true." I explained that I was a medical provider, but she said that didn't matter,
the internet said that it wasn't possible. She would not allow me to
explain that I intended the email simply to advise them of a possibility, and it
was not an accusation, but she kept cutting me off, and her voice was
getting louder and louder. She finally gave us the key and took us to our room.

For my review of the room, I will say that this one (room 8) would not have had
as good of a review in any case. It was on the street side, so it was much noisier,
and there where no plugs by the head of the twin bed. The other things applied, however. It was very clean, as were the bathrooms. Still good water pressure, and
plenty of hot water and clean towels. I did check the mattress cording, and did
not see any evidence of bed bugs.

Although I would recommend this hotel to anyone for all of the reasons I
normally would recommend one, I give this a lower rating than I would have
for the unprofessional treatment we received at reception. If I was to receive
an apology, I would certainly raise the rating, but I do not expect one.
